Personally I find it when clubs offer to reimburse tickets quite embarassing, so I wouldn't want us to do it. They perhaps should however have put out a statement formally apologising, which may have helped those who are particularly angry about the result, although personally I'm not bothered about the lack of statement either. Thumpings happen occasionally, and as soon as we had a man sent off that always looked a possibility. We're making a habit of heavy defeats this season, under both managers, which perhaps says something about the players under pressure. Which doesn't bode well for the pressure of a relegation battle.

I am also worried about the fans forum - I will be surprised if it doesn't turn toxic. I'm actually amazed things haven't gone too toxic (I'm thinking of the Nuneaton game at home under Tommy Wright) already given how poor we've been for nearly an entire year now, but I fear there will be some long term consequences of the forum tomorrow.

You are worried about the fans forum, but equally you are not bothered about a lack of statement from the club - arguably the two go together and some form of communication would help mitigate toxic behaviour tomorrow. Oh, and our SLO has just gone back at a supporter for calling the board spineless - so that won't help matters.

Tuesday night was on a different level to anything we have seen this season. I'm fed up of hearing that these results happen when we were one goal away from equalling the NLN heaviest defeat record, and this was our worst result in over 30 years.

8-0 is one thing but seeing the players give up is another.

Against a team that had only won 7 games from 16 before we turned up, by the way.

I said that I'm personally not bothered about the lack of statement. I also said that the club perhaps should have put out a statement, which may have helped those particuarly angry about it.

I am at a loss as to why the board should put out a statement, it was the footballers and managent that did the "dirty deed". What would the board say?
Good grief let's be sensible, the board made the management decision yes, we are not sure yet if it was the right one,(although not looking good at the present I agree), seem to remember sir Alex had a slow start and did ok in the end. The board putting out a statement saying we are sorry about the management, is not going to help the situation and undermine further the management and I think us fans,(including me), are doing more than enough of that.
Think we have to bite the bullet, and just get behind the team till the end of what is looking like a difficult year, to be honest we have little other choice imo.

Completely missing the point.

Barely anyone would actually take up the reimbursement, but it's a PR win, a virtuous gift.

Or shall we remain silent after our worst result in decades & allow things to build up for tomorrow night? Looks like it.
So what pot of the fans money are you taking from to cover these reimbursements? Boost the budget? 50/50 sales? Other clubs with rich owners can do this as a PR stunt but it’s not what we’re about.
The club has cash in the bank and generates income aside from BTB/50-50 sales/gate-receipts.

How many travelled/how many would actually go for the reimbursement? I'd bet about ten, and that's being generous.

You don't have to have rich owners to pay that out, and I can assure you, we've tried PR stunts before to benefit the club - so this isn't alien.
Yes the club do have cash reserves and it’s absolutely imperative that they are managed sensibly.
It’s not about the amount of money involved it’s about the principle. As supporters group members we’re supposed to be ‘owners’. The idea that we get our money back when the club doesn’t perform well implies that we’re nothing of the sort.
Also, what happens the next time we’re on the end of a trashing? What happens if we get a similar result at Scarborough/ South Shields. Would you offer 800 odd Darlo fans a refund?

Quakers2009 our very hard working slo who also happens to be a passionate Darlo fan objected to the board being called “ cowards “ and rightly so .
Lots of people will be worried about the fans forum as there is a feeling that nonowts will vent their anger at board members who may already be at breaking point . These guys are Darlo fans as well remember and will be feeling it more than most .

They are ultimately the ones who care so much they volunteer their time for absolutely nothing to help the club run, and I would hazard a guess that their financial contributions are also above average on top.

I get people are passionate and don't want it to happen - but the worst case is we get relegated.

Well if we get relegated we will just have to get promoted again. We will still have a club.

It is only football ultimately, it is a social activity, entertainment and ultimately just a game.

Passion is great, but so is perspective.

Anyone subjecting another person to personal abuse over a game of football is just madness to be honest - and frankly think football is better without them anywhere near it.

I have no idea. I just know there shouldn't be a circumstance where our SLO is having to stand up to them from abuse.

Frankly the fact we even have an SLO is symptomatic of the systemic abuse problem in football...so guess it's no surprise.

To be fair, there are countless examples where a refund has been offered to fans at other clubs after a particularly hideous performance.

We lost 8-0 to a side in the same division that, prior to kick off, weren't even in the top 5.

Our worst league result in how many years? 50 plus?

I don't think people realise how seriously bad Tuesday night was.

It would have been a good (and cheap) PR exercise prior to tomorrow evening. Not many would take up the offer, but it would be the thought & sincerity that would have been appreciated.

Yep, if DJ leaves we'll end up making poor decisions on managers, be bottom of the NLN and get relgated to the NPL.

If DJ leaves it will be much worse than that, the previous CEO steadied the ship before leaving for Hearts and stints at Pools and York in different capacities but before them we had good intention people but club nearly totally went bust,( and I mean totally out of business). We need someone with a proper business head and that is DJ. if we have to have the odd set back at least be in a position of security for the club. As far as I can see DJ does this because he cares about the club, even though it impacts his other business interests and the club is on a stable footing, we have been through a lot in the many years I have watch the mighty Quakers, (since the 60's) and having a steady, practical person overseeing is what we need imo.

It was a board decision not a DJ decision.

You're also forgetting the small matter of trying to create a ground out of thin air, DJ needs to be able to crack on with it.

There is a balance between being financially stable and being successful on the pitch. We are financially stable but this is about the worst Darlo team I've ever watched, its not fun at all.

I'm guessing pretty much any of us could keep the club in the black, we'd just reduce the budget, not sign players etc., and we'd get relegated of course. The skill is being both financially stable and successful, which is much, much harder. DJ is a businessman but is he a football man?

Depends. I don't want us to go out of business, team has been relatively successfully to be honest given the situation we have endured over the last fee years, and given the odd time I have talked to DJ yes he is a football man.

I don't want us to go out of business either, but somehow we're not making the right decisions over recent times, we shouldn't be facing relegation. At least 22 other clubs in this league appear to be balancing financial stability with success better than we are. Some of that may be due to owners pumping money in, but our budget is supposed to be a top half budget.

From some of the bits I have heard, a few other teams have "additional" income streams we don't have access to on top of the declared budget, but let's just agree to disagree, this year we may have got it wrong, time will tell, and to be honest it is not the end of the world, just uncomfortable and a tad disappointing. Still I will be going to Scunthorpe on Sat rather than our lass , her mam, grandson and sister to York. Hoping for reasonable result, but expecting another stuffing, its football :D

Ghost, do you really believe that?, people say things in the heat of the moment, I have not talked to a single person in my circle of friends who would do either, as they are fans and hurting the club further is not what a Dan would do.
