Rivals No More

rivals no more

As you can see we are no longer part of Rivals, but why is this? At 7am this morning I turned on my pc to find the message saying that Rivals was currently no longer available. At first I thought this was just a technical issue and it would be resloved.

I went on to the publishers messageboard to query what was happening and we were all in the dark. Then some other publishers received their mail and a letter had arrived saying the following....

Following the closure of a company involved in hosting all the relevant websites and a review of http://www.rivals.net is has been decided to close the Rivals websites as of the date of this letter.

As a result, Rivals hereby gives you three months notice of termination. Rivals will continue to pay the Fees (as defined by the Agreement) for such three month period but does not require you to perform the services defined in the Agreement as from the date of the letter.

In recognition of the service you provided, Rivals is willing to transfer to you the domain name of the Site (please note that a legal registrant transfer fee may be payable to you). In addition Rivals will suppy at your request a disc containing the archived articles you have published on the Site. Please confirm by 31st July at the latest, if you would like to exercise either or both of these options by contacting Trevor Kramer.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your work relating to the site.

To say I was shocked would be an understatement. I took moves immediately to set up a messageboard for us to still use and I hope you will all continue to post.

There are great plusses from this though. Two Darlo season tickets holders are also website designers and have agreed to build us a new Uncovered and it will have some great new features. Obviously things are just starting up today so we will hopefully get a basic site up and running and aim to have a fully working all singing and all dancing new site ready for the start of the new season.

Up until then we will continue to update the news through this layout.

Apologies again for the inconvenience but at least we will now have an independent site once again and do whatever we like.
