Four Leave Club

four leave club

Darlington have confirmed that four players have left the club with only one possibly returning after their respective deals expired after Saturdays victory over Shrewsbury.

Jamie Devitt, Tony Kane and Russell Hoult all saw their one month loan deals run out whilst Kevin Gall’s short term deal also ran its term

The departure of Jamie Devitt is the most disappointing of the four with Darlington manager Steve Staunton stating that he had wanted the young winger to stay on at the club but Devitt preferred to return to Hull and fight for a place in the first team.

“We’re disappointed we couldn’t convince Jamie to stay a bit longer,” said Staunton.

“I spoke to Phil Brown and he was happy for us to extend the loan, but Jamie has his own ambitions to break in to Hull’s first team, so we wish him all the best.”

Tony Kane failed to make an impression during his spell, infact some might say he was one of the most dire loan signings we have had in many a season.  Staunton though is hoping to  extend Russell Hoults stay and will be in touch with Notts County through the week to broker a new deal.

Kevin Gall’s release to some will be suprising, but his lack of goals will have possibly made the gaffers decision for him.  He did run his socks off but the end product was never really there.
