Spennymoor Sold Out
by Scott Thornberry - 13th February 2013
Town have issued important information to fans of both sides, who are all being strongly advised to give themselves plenty of time.
With 2,400 tickets sold, all spectators are advised to arrive at least an hour before the game kicks off (at 7.45pm), with turnstiles open from 6pm.
Moors general manager Steve Lawson said: “There is segregation in place and spectators must enter the ground which is stipulated on their ticket – Wood Vue for Spennymoor fans and Tees Crescent for Darlington fans.
“Extra parking provisions have been made but it is still limited and everyone is encouraged to use public transport, taxis and group up as much as possible.
“We’d ask all fans to respect the surrounding areas and show consideration to neighbouring residents.”
Northern League chairman Mike Amos says the fixture will bring back memories of huge derby day attendances of the 1950s.
“A 2,000-plus gate is unprecedented in the recent history of the Northern League, though quite common in the former glory days of the 1950s,” said Amos.
“Friday’s game promises to have everything. Both clubs have had marked success, a high-profile and enjoy an enthusiastic and vociferous following.
“It’s going to be like one of those derby days in the 1950s – an occasion to be greatly relished.”
Town have issued the following information for fans of both sides.
● The game is strictly ALL TICKET – so no match ticket, no entry. No cash turnstiles will be in operation on the evening and the game is sold out.
● Both Turnstiles open at 6pm in Wood Vue (Spennymoor) and Tees Crescent (Darlington).
● Entrances stated on ticket must be used. If entry is tried via the wrong entrance then you will be refused entry and sent to the correct turnstile.
● The local police teams are involved in over seeing proceedings and may ticket cars that are illegally or inconsiderately parked. Spectators are also asked to respect the areas surrounding the ground.
● Car parking is available at St Charles RC VA School from 6pm and the club would strongly advise that the area is used as parking is restricted. Durham Road can also be used.
● Facilities in the ground are an outside Bar, Clems Fish Bar wagon and extra toilet facilities for Darlington supporters.
● The club bar for Spennymoor supporters is restricted to 120 at any one time. A burger van and extra toilets will be in operation, as toilets in the main stand will not be in use for spectators.
● Fans are strongly advised to use public transport or car sharing and to give themselves plenty of time.
● Any persons that are deemed to be intoxicated and are likely to cause for concern will be refused entry and no refund on tickets will be given.
● Supporters coaches will told to disembark around the Salvins public house area and then told to park elsewhere away from the ground by the police.
● Instruments such as trumpets, drums, horns, flares or vuvuzelas are strictly prohibited
