Preece To Join Tykes
by Scott Thornberry - 17th July 2009
Formewr Darlington goalkeeper David Preece is set to sign for Barnsley on a one year deal. The former Sunderland shot stopper spent two seasons at The Quakers after being released by the Black Cats in 1997.
The 32-year-old, left Darlington for Aberdeen in 1999 in a suprise big money move, one which only David Hodgson could arrange. His replacement was a more than ample Andy Collett!
Preece has played in Denmark for the last four years with Silkeborg and latterly OB Odense.
Barnsley manager Simon Davey told the club's official website: "David has done very well training with us and has all the attributes needed to be a quality goalkeeper in the Championship."
He added: "We're delighted to have brought him here to Oakwell. David has the experience and the ability to provide healthy competition for Luke Steele."
