Prediction League is go!

prediction league is go!

Continuing our efforts to bring you the best darned Darlo website on the planet, we are pleased to announce the launch of the new prediction league facility on the Darlo Uncovered website.

Predict the home and away scores, attendance and first Darlo goalscorer for our next fixture and score points for right, or close to right answers. Points might not make prizes on this occasion (it is free to play, after all) but it'll still be damn good fun.

To use the fixture predictor, you will require a modern, JavaScript enabled web browser. Work is underway to prepare the fixture predictor for browsers with this functionality switched off. Go to our Fixtures page and our next fixture is highlighted with a yellow stripe. Clicking this stripe will open a window into which you can enter your predictions.

Predictions can be updated as often as required, but must be finalised 30 minutes before kick off.

For full rules and point scoring info, please see this forum topic.

This is a test launch, and while we don't anticipate any problems we realise there may be one or two teething problems. If you have any difficulties please leave a comment in the associated forum thread.

Good luck!

Looks great. Where will the individual points and accumulated points be shown for each person?

Good work

Good work
That'll be up soon enough, with not having a great deal of time to develop features, we're just kind of drip feeding them onto the site as they come.

It was important to start letting people enter their predictions for Saturday as early as possible, so everyone can get involved.

The plan is to have a league table up as soon as we can, so bear with us if it's not there straight after saturdays game, so keep predicting as all your scores will be counted once the table is up.

Looking very good!

One thing that might be worth 'enabling' is for people to be able to predict for multiple games at a time, people of have holidays which means they are unable to predict every week indivisually...

Think it's already been mentioned that you need an up to date browser with Java enabled - contact me by private message if you need further help.

Just you MSG  Looks great though, better than a thread that would just get lost down the board somewhere

What web browser you running? You'll need JavaScript initially but we're looking at ways of making it possible to use whatever you're running. Even if you want to predict your score by mobile on the road heading to the match :)

Also, Magical, multiple predictions is something we're planning on doing - this is just the first version. There's lots of work still to come!

TwoSaints - 7th August 2009 08:43:43

I like it and am very confident of being completely crap at predictions

MSG Quaker - 7th August 2009 08:44:53

Cheers lads, I have managed to sort this....for the record 1-1, 2901, Windass!!!!

dfc1883 - 7th August 2009 16:58:42

Just to remind everyone, you have until 2:30pm tomorrow to get your predictions in.

The cut off half an hour before the game is to avoid anyone actually being in the ground having an unfair advantage in being able to see appox. how many people are there and updating it via their phone.

I've added Dowson and Chandler to the First Goalscorer options, so if you want to change your mind to either of those two, just head back to the fixtures page and choose your options again.

As it stands we've had 93 people enter a prediction so far with :
Aldershot to win: 21
Darlington to win: 38
Draw: 34
Attendance average: 3239
With Dean Windass being the most chosen player for first scorer

RUMPLESTILTSKIN - 7th August 2009 22:54:22

How many people in the ground will have the means to predict or change the prediction? The problem with those who live away from Darlington is, having to rely on such as SKY to give us the line up for the game. THis does not happen until about 5 - 10 mins before the start.

I would be quite happy to wait until 10 mins (or 1 min) before the kick off before making a prediction. Those at the match are normally pretty crap at counting anyway.

Seems a good turnout

We're up to 100!

Fantastic stuff - thank you to everyone who's taking part. I will try my best to get the league table up and running before the weekend is out :D

Is the Prediction League table up and running yet?
