Boot Sale Indoors
by Scott Thornberry - 22nd October 2010
Darlington’s popular car boot sale is set to go indoors to beat the weather!
The Quakers launched the car boot sales, in partnership with Darlington Borough Council, in the parking areas of the club’s Northern Echo Arena earlier this year.
The sales have become hugely popular, with the maximum number of sellers (100) being sold every week and an average of around 2,000 bargain-hunters descending on the Arena.
But now, with the inclement weather on the way, the car boot sales are going indoors, using the stadium’s vast concourse areas to cater for the popular Sunday sales.
“We’re hoping this unique offer will mean we can maintain the number of buyers and sellers to the stadium,” said the club’s general manager Phil Preston.
“It’ll be the first of its kind in the area so hopefully the sales will continue to be just as popular, if not more as offer shelter that others can’t.
“It’s an ideal opportunity to clear out the attic and make some extra cash without worrying about the weather!”
Darlington’s car boot sale could go indoors as early as this Sunday (October 24).
The car boot sales are only for the sale of second hand goods by private members of the public. They cost £10 per car if indoors (£12 if indoors, including two tables) and entry for buyers is £1 each (accompanied Under-12s get in free).
Sellers will have access at 8.30am and buyers at 10am until 1pm. Please do not arrive early, the gates will NOT be unlocked before these times.
The site accommodates 100 sellers and 750 free car parking spaces, with refreshments, toilets and catering all provided by the football club.
Stewards will be on duty throughout to ensure that everyone enjoys their time at the Arena.
