Wembley Video

by Scott Thornberry - 9th May 2011

wembley video

It was a day that no Darlo fan will ever forget and if I am honest no Darlo fan will ever experience again.  The fact we scored in the last minute of extra time made it so emotional.  I fill up everytime I hear Rays commentary.

I've put together this little video to try and put the day together, from the train station to the Green Man.  From the Underground to Wembley Stadium.  Lets Milk this one baby because "these things don't happen to Darlo!"

Mate, I'm in the bad books tonight. Having been on here from 4 til 11 last night, there's still loads I haven't seen.

Then, just about every ten minutes or so, I return to Chrissy Senior and Ray "you can have my babies" Simpson.

Even Smudger couldn't ruin the moment with some half arsed attempt to say, well, something.

'Lets Milk this one baby because "these things don't happen to Darlo!"

I think people on here are doing a pretty good job.

I just hope the club do the same - there is so much positive feeling and goodwill towards the club they have got to take every opportunity to flaunt the trophy all over the town - put it, the players and management on display all over the place.

From a commercial, marketing PR point of view this could be a once in a lfetime opportunity - not directly money making, but keeping the interest and enthusiasm going over the summer and hope that it translates into more season tickets and attendaces in general.

No doubt the premier league sky watchers wearing their Man U/Chelsea etc shirts will snear and mock, but I'm sure most people, especially all the youngsters who were there on Saturday will just want more and more of it.

It's funny really because I've not spoken to 1 single person who's ever physically seen their team win at Wembley (includes Boro/Newcastle/York and the big clubs), and although I got a few chuckles when I said you could never replicate the feeling by watching it in a pub, the majority all agreed. York fan I know listened to the whole game on BBC Notts and was made up that we won, even moreso that it was into the 121st minute. Rather than envy, he pretty much knew just how good we'd all be feeling.

At the end of the day, we're a tiny club with a tiny fanbase and maybe that's what makes it all feel so good - we've had our day in the sun and finally come through on the most beautiful of days and most beautiful of stages. I'm almost disappointed that it's over 48 hours ago now, and the greatest day of my life is consigned to memories, photos and footage.

But milk it I shall
