darlo to take on harrogate in pre-season

Darlington will play Harrogate Town away in a pre-season friendly, a week before the start of the 2011-12 campaign.

Mark Cooper will take his side to Wetherby Road on Saturday August 6, seven days before the Blue Square Premier League season kicks off.

Harrogate, nicknamed the Sulphurites, last season finished 12th in the Blue Square North League, one division below the Quakers.

The 50-mile trip down the A1 is likely to be Darlo’s final pre-season friendly before their league season starts a week later.

Quakers will add a seventh and final fixture to their pre-season calendar, with a high-profile home tie at the Northern Echo Arena, probably around the weekend of July 30, expected to be confirmed soon.

Darlington’s pre-season schedule to date:

Friday July 15: Newcastle United (H), 7.45pm
Saturday July 23: Middlesbrough (H), 3pm
Tuesday July 26: Sheffield (A), 7.30pm
Tuesday August 2: Newton Aycliffe (A), 7.30pm
Wednesday August 3: Whitby Town (A), 7pm
Saturday August 6: Harrogate Town (A), 3pm
