Steve Staunton only took over at the healm officially on Wednesday but has already brought in a striker and a left back to try and shore up areas which we are weak in.

Experienced striker Noel Whelan has joined the club on a non contract basis whilst 20 year old Robbie Threlfall joins up on a one month loan deal from Stauntons former club Liverpool.

Whelan, 34, has played at the highest level for many years.  Former clubs include Leeds, Coventry, Middlesbrough and Millwall but has more recently been putting his boots on for Neil Aspins Harrogate Town in the Conference North, joining them in December last year.

Threlfall meanwhile has won the FA Youth Cup with Liverpool in 2006 and 2007.  Although being on the fringes of the first team he has yet to make his senior debut and has been restricted to playing in the reserves.

Both will go straight into the squad for Saturdays tough encounter with third place Dagenham and Redbridge.
