Re: Potential new signings
You’re relentless and tedious… my original point is based upon players that other teams have signed around us. We have made a good start with Hazel and I am probably being impatient. I would like to see a couple more signings before the first preseason game. Huzzah! We’ve got there. Glad you’ve con...

My opinion is I feel that our current squad isn’t good enough to compete for playoffs Of course it isn’t, because we haven’t completed our business yet. Players have been on holiday. Contracts still run until June 30th. As a genuine question, why are you so desperate to make any sort of judgement n...

Re: Potential new signings
Darloed, you say "The early bird catches the first worm". What about "Slow and steady wins the race"? We had our first three permanent signings (Rose, Hazel and Sukar) sorted by May 19th. Hazel was sorted before the last game of the season. That all seems pretty early to me. By mid-June we had 15 p...

If your opinion is a ludicrous one designed to get a rise out of people, then I’ve every right to challenge you on it. And saying we’ll finish bottom half of the table when we’re not at the end of June is a silly, baseless opinion. Don’t make the mistake of thinking because you hold an opinion I ha...

Looking at the likes of Kidderminster, Boston and even Peterborough Sports making quality signings is so frustrating. I honestly feel a bottom half finish this season is the reality. You are definitely a troll on the wind up. Another six weeks until the season starts, the bulk of last season’s squa...

Re: Retained list
Really happy to keep Griffiths. A solid performer in my opinion and helps keep some continuity in the back line. And with the extra games this season, he, Hedley and Sukar will get plenty of match time. Think that takes us to 15 players in the squad now. Pretty clear what we need as well. A centre b...

And if you’re feeling really optimistic, here are the play-off dates for next season if you’re wanting to book time off work…… Eliminator A – Tuesday 2 May - 5th place vs 6th place Eliminat...

Not even worth worrying about something with that staggering level of ignorance. Sadly there’s a lot of it about it in the town when comes to the club.

Re: Retained list
Had some great games for us and some brilliant moments - the equaliser at Walsall will live long in the memory. But he’d definitely reached the end of the road with us and fresh challenge for him was needed. Some will get worked up by the fact he’s gone to Spenny, but he’d undoubtedly got to a point...

If we have Sukar sorted as left back, it would suggest Joey Hope won’t be returning.

Interesting to see that Rose has tweeted he’s joining as a player-coach (something not mentioned by the club).
Wonder if that’s a similar arrangement to Rivers in helping coach within the academy, or whether Rose will also be helping the first team.

Re: Retained list
To be honest I think that Mondal and Rivers are lucky that they're already contracted for next season otherwise I'd fancy that they'd have been released. Certainly Mondal would’ve gone, and I suspect AA may send him on loan at some stage this season, particularly if he gets the players he wants in ...

Re: George smith departs
Seems Darlo_CR has it right again. Presume if Hope stays, we then go for one more full back as cover. Still think it’d be a gamble if both cover full backs are fairly young (think Hope is 19). But I see and understand the logic.

The three “debatable” departures are Cassidy, Smith and Storey. I do think the last few weeks of the season convinced AA he might need to mix things up a bit more than he initially planned. It is a shame with Cassidy as he did offer us something we badly missed in previous campaigns. But that’ll be ...

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Griffiths and Hedley as fullbacks with Hope and another youngster as back up. Probably wiser using Smiths wage elsewhere in the team and get a young replacement for cover. That would be a bit of a gamble though in my opinion. We’ve got an expanded 46-game league seaso...

Yep, this is totally normal and no way absurd. Saying a sixth tier defender reminds you of England’s legendary World Cup-winning captain.jjljks wrote:Have watched Wheater play in our team & he reminded me of Bobby Moore in his latter years at Fulham.

More than happy if Brackley go up. We’ve got enough long trips next year so would be happy with them out of the division.

Re: Wheater
I'm afraid to say I don’t think he is the answer to our centre half problems. He looked way off the pace yesterday. He looked shot after about 10 minutes in. Armstrong needs to look again. I’m afraid to say judging a 35-year-old who didn’t have a full pre-season because of a serious injury on the b...

To me Houchen was a much worse chairman and Scott & Sizer were equally just as bad all about the money not the club. As I remember Scott and Sizer were just money lenders - all they wanted was their money back and I can't see anything wrong with that. They ended up owning the Arena by default then ...

Re: Jacob Hazel
An exciting signing with the potential to be a really key player for us next season. The fact we’ve moved to get him signed up before the season is completed shows how important it was to get a finisher for the new campaign. If AA is after about six new signings in total, that would suggest he’s got...

Ruthless by Singh to sack Lee before the final game after they consolidated in the league, got to 4th round of the FA Cup and semi final of Papa Johns. Just 5 months as manager there. Also comes just days after a fundraising match there for the manager's wife's battle against a brain tumour. Great ...

The last few weeks have been really weird. As soon as we got into the play-offs, that’s when we fell away. That does make me wonder if there was a mentality issue, or indeed whether something happened in the squad. It was all very strange. Right at the point where you thought they’d dig in and give ...

Interesting team selection: Taylor; Griffiths, Wheater, Hedley; Moke, Rose, Lambert, Thompson, Mondal, Cassidy, O’Neill.
No other centre backs in the matchday squad - potentially we’re going three at the back and all out with five attackers?
Or someone like Cassidy as a makeshift centre back?
