Re: Retained list
Totally agree Beck has nothing to prove given his history, but we need to be bringing on young players who may then attract bigger clubs in with a transfer fee. If only it were that easy. We need the best players possible within our budget. We won't be funding a ground through the odd £20k-£50k fee...

Totally agree Beck has nothing to prove given his history, but we need to be bringing on young players who may then attract bigger clubs in with a transfer fee. O'Neill has the potential to do this if he can get a good understanding with the rest of our attack. Sorry, but it is where the club is at ...

Re: Best Darlo goals you’ve seen live
Giving my age away now, so FA Cup 2nd round December 1976 against Sheffield Wednesday, who had been putting us through the mill & testing our resistance most of the game, finally we got the ball just into their half to big Ron Ferguson. He slipped his marker but, lacking forward support, about 35yds...

Re: Retained list
I'd sign O'Neill any day of the week on a 1 year deal with an option, no farting about with trials. In any case, he might have his sights set higher than us. Totally agree with this. Get him in! Yes, Beck has had his day but Ty O'Neill has his best days ahead of him & could link up well with Hazell

Re: Retained list
Glad to have Griffiths for another campaign. He will learn a lot playing alongside Wheater & hopefully continue to improve. At least the defence will start with some understanding between themselves & not have to build one from scratch after the league kicks off. We need a good start in August in or...

Re: Just made Top 30
I think you’re right Oldgit. Things do change in football but once we get out of our present lull, word will get round and crowds will pick up. Absolutely right. Bit of a chicken & egg situation with building a stadium and a squad capable of winning in style. I feel BM is now a limiting factor to t...

Re: Transfer Rumours???
Bit of a surprise regarding Sousa as he played 33 games for Grimsby last season and started in the playoff semifinal and final. Think it likely he will be snapped up by a National League team, but if not would be very welcome back at Blackwell Meadows. Sousa must be gutted that Grimsby let him go. ...

Re: Potential new signings
Noticed Justin Donawa was not in the Solihull Moors squad for playoff final. Has he fallen out of favour with them? Would welcome him back into ours for next season as we seemed to carry a goal threat when he was up front. Broke his leg a few months ago, presume he isn't back to fitness as yet. Tha...

Absolutely and I wish him all the luck, a real top person as well as player. Slightly concerned we only have one player signed up for next season and he's a youth teamer who has never made an appearance Hmm, that concern should be more than slight if our experience this last season was anything to ...

Sorry we missed out with him. Very different player from Rose / Moke / Purver & gave us that option of changing formation on the pitch if things weren't working out. Like to see AA strengthen the squad by signing a bit of height / muscle / scoring ability.

Reading comments by Clayton Donaldson, it looks like he is retiring "on a high". Mack Heaney nearly scored as many last year but is younger.

Re: New stadium funding
Lo36789 is right, DBC & their "planners" have failed us spectacularly over the years with lazy thinking. TBH Blackwell Meadows is the best of a bad crop of possible locations on the edge of town. The other alternatives require brownfield redevelopment, say of the old cattle mart or back of Northgate...

They are in deep s*** now. The stadium has been separated from the club and big loans taken out.... https://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/financial-expert-kieran-maguire-analyses-7098067 Hmmm, now that all seems a very familiar story. Well I didn't see that coming, we deserved the win in all 3 playoff games, not relying on pens, a red card or anything, a big summer of recruitment coming up. Sorry to lost our derby with you guys temporarily but in sure AA will have you up soon 👍 A fair amount of credit must go to ex- Darlo keeper...

Better get sorted with the gambling owners quick, as the Premier League are already thinking about banning shirt sponsorship by betting firms.

Deffo won't be getting any EU funding or from Saudi Arabian Investment fund or the dodgy Ruskies who fund Chelsea & Everton. DJ has brought the club to the brink of another era, but this time all based on sound financial planning for the future. Would have been nice to identify at least a shortlist. The car parking at grounds is not an unsurmountable problem if public transport links are there & affordable. DJ right to pu...

Re: New stadium funding
Eastbourne Sports Complex was mentioned in the speech of our new D B Council Leader. He promised improvements to the facility, but I wonder if this will include a community stadium like York. As usual, the Echo spluges as "news" that DFC are wanting to move away from BM then failed to identify anyth...

Williamson is a big follower of the Japanese concept of Kaizen – or change for better – constantly seeking continuous improvement everyday. If he pitches in with Singh and the Poolies he may also eventually be looking to follow the path to hara-kiri. At least Poolies have a cheap & radical preventa...

All gone wrong at AFC Fylde too. Boston managed a 2-0 away win and also a lot of allegations flying over their manager James Rowe, ex- Chesterfield boss. Spoiled Will Hatfield's move.

Happy to see return of Rose to squad, even if this is combined with coaching & perhaps doing his badges? Guess that AA gave Cassidy a last chance by putting him into back 4 for last home game, but he did not look a natural. Would like to see Lowe given another chance to get into the team as some sig...

Have watched Wheater play in our team & he reminded me of Bobby Moore in his latter years at Fulham. Yes he was not as fast as in his prime but great reader of the game hence often in the right place at right time. He gave confidence to others around him who improve through that experience. Painfull...

Re: NLN playoffs
Case to be made for each side, positives & negatives for example Fylde - nice for Will Hatfield, Brackley & Kidderminster both very long trips, Boston seems longer but not quite. Chorley a team of big cloggers & finally York - a bogey team for us but quite a decent away trip. Got to be Brackley for me
