Re: Spennymoor Away (KO 1pm)
Not going, never again , no place to take the kids 👎 Absolutely right, am still getting over the turnstile farce, collapsing fence, crumbling concrete terrace without cover & poor sight-lines etc etc. Shame, as the vast majority of fans from both clubs can get on together, but I won't boost Uncle B...

Re: New stadium funding
Very interesting comments in York Press about their new LNER Community stadium. Biggest complaints were about half-time queues & price of a pint (£6.50)! Also a lot of grief about putting in a section of safe standing in South stand - cost of £250k. Wonder why this wasn't designed in the new build....

The lads have made a good start and 2nd half did play some attractive attacking football which should draw more fans in.

Re: Darlington V Gloucester
First half hour we struggled as Gloucester seemed to find space & pace but defence was solid despite ref randomly booking our players & lino continually tying his laces rather than cintributing to decisions. Hazel took his goal well & obviously a pacy handful who should feed well off Beck once they ...

Re: Alfie Hughes
That grass could be ĺong, else Alfie Hughes is the smallest winger I have ever seen. Seriously, AA has picked up some excellent players during these last few days. Shame they were not in time to take part in the pre-season friendlies & sort out how each can slot into how we want to play. Let's give ...

Re: Darlington V Gloucester
Think they abandoned full-time model at start of 2022, but on their website there are only pics of half the squad so presumably not had a lot of time together. Either that or their web-master is rather slow on updating it

I'm a fan of the 50/50 draw. If you've got a bit spare you can get a few more tickets than normal knowing that 50% goes straight to the club. No pre thought or direct debits or anything, and of course there's always a chance a tickle :) Yep, me too. You can do the 50/50 online as well as buying the...

Re: Rivers
Would have thought Rivers is an integral part with Hazel & Beck now available as targetman in our middle. Just hope Rivers puts in his crosses as soon as he beats the defender this season, also makes more of a contribution to our goal tally this season. Glad he is staying put with us.

Re: Darlo v Rochdale
Thought Rochdale was an odd team for a friendly, until I twigged the link to Charman. Yep, good test of our latest squad which did show we still have a way to go before returning to League 2 but we should be able to compete for promotion in NLN. AA has put in the foundations for a good season. Can't...

Good job done, AA. Given us a decent squad to kick off the season this time, so hope we can get off the blocks quicker & build a stack of points for our promotion push.

Re: Greetings again Darlo fans
Thanks for the update, Shakerfan. I can empathise with your joy in gaining promotion & competitive games in little grounds that are the grass roots of the game. Also the dismay at disunity caused by splintering, yet being positive about recovery of Gigg Lane - at least it did not disappear under new...

Re: Newton Aycliffe v Darlington Tuesday July 5th.
Good workout tonight. Totally dominated the 1st half and led 4-0 at halftime with goals from Mondal Hazel Lambert and Rivers. Second half was more disjointed with multiple substitutes and Aycliffe pulled 2 back, before a goal from substitute Marcus Maddison. Thought we looked good at times, especia...

Re: mark beck
Great target man to have up front, although not quite as quick now, can certainly hold the ball up & gives opponent defences trouble from set pieces. With him and Wheater in the box, they should be having nightmares every time a decent cross comes in. At least AA gets to have a look at him in the fl...

Re: Retained list
Totally agree Beck has nothing to prove given his history, but we need to be bringing on young players who may then attract bigger clubs in with a transfer fee. If only it were that easy. We need the best players possible within our budget. We won't be funding a ground through the odd £20k-£50k fee...

Totally agree Beck has nothing to prove given his history, but we need to be bringing on young players who may then attract bigger clubs in with a transfer fee. Re: Best Darlo goals you’ve seen live
Giving my age away now, so FA Cup 2nd round December 1976 against Sheffield Wednesday, who had been putting us through the mill & testing our resistance most of the game, finally we got the ball just into their half to big Ron Ferguson. He slipped his marker but, lacking forward support, about 35yds...

Re: Retained list
I'd sign O'Neill any day of the week on a 1 year deal with an option, no farting about with trials. In any case, he might have his sights set higher than us. Totally agree with this. Get him in! Yes, Beck has had his day but Ty O'Neill has his best days ahead of him & could link up well with Hazell
