Re: Jake Lawlor

Great to have Lawlor back. The slight disappointment is that he is only on a contract until the end of the season. Taylor, Ellis, Lawlor, Hatfield, Rose, Purver, Cassidy; we need to try and build the squad around these next season. A fully fit David Wheater would be a bonus. Agreed. I've seen enoug...

Re: Luke charman

I’d be very surprised if we haven’t negotiated some add-ons as part of the deal, but I’d imagine those won’t be made public at the time. This is just a reality of where we are as a club. I’m afraid to get further we need to identify more Charmans and turn a profit on them consistently. That’s how we...

Re: Kidderminster Game

No Lawlor or Cooper extension, and no announcement on Rose yet. Means the team pretty much picks its self for tomorrow. Still plenty good enough to give anyone in the league a game. Not sure where Kidderminster will be at fitness wise, but they played midweek after their cup heroics, add to that th...

Re: Kidderminster Game

If they’re quite young, personally I’d fork out for the seated stand. Sight lines are an issue at Blackwell, so I’d imagine anywhere else isn’t great for kids. The tinshed is always full, and if it’s raining it’ll be even worse.

Re: David Wheater

I think the answer is we don't know. Don't know if all over 34s are the same - they were slightly different style of players. Hunt was a better player at his peak, I think this is a personal opinion (which is fair enough) but didn't Wheater get himself into the senior England squad - not sure if Hu...

Re: Farsley game

Considering he made the worst decision ever in denying us a penalty when it was 2-0 he could quite well have changed the course of the game. Fortunately for him we scored again soon after but had that goal gone to them it could easily have got them back on top. Didn’t think I would see a worse deci...

Re: Fans Forum Postponed

How on earth could we be paying for an entirely new ground? Magic beans? Seems an unrealistic expectation to me. Further development at Blackwell - or land next to it - seems more likely doesn’t it? A sports hub might meet the criteria for some kind of grant to develop on it. This is presumably what...

Re: Spennymoor game

Yeah the replay is damning. Just embarrassing behaviour. I’d imagine that should be overturned if we appeal it. I don’t think anything Charman does is unreasonable, he’s shoving someone who has him in a stranglehold around his neck.

I’ve got to admit, I thought the minutes applause was inappropriate when I read it. What are we applauding? A man being murdered at the age of 23 is heartbreaking. I think a more somber approach is appropriate. (Not really a criticism of Darlo or anyone at the club btw, just a general trend toward t...

Re: Morley and Johnno

I think it is developing into a kind of rivalry. It's not Hartlepool, but it's so local it's hard to think of it another way. A derby of sorts. Then again, arguably, so is Gateshead.

Was recently asked by a Darlo exile coming home for Christmas whether the Spenny game would be ticketed & if possible could I get him a ticket so we could go together. Re: Next seasons kit

I've gone 1 and 1. 3 will win the home vote though, especially as we've had a year off hoops this season. I think 1 will win the away vote especially now that yellow has been introduced this season as our third kit. We've not had a red kit for a few years now (since that burgundy one that I loved, ...

They look more than capable of being that team, based on current form. They started ok, but they're in absolute freefall. Probably a good decision to move him on, but not sure who else they'll be able to get in. Wonder what Martin Grey is up to...

Yeah, i've also been surprised. I was a solid 'meh' and expected him to be a bit-part change of pace when we couldn't use Charman or Nelson. He's turned into a vital player.

Re: Blyth Spartans

They had a decent start but they're in freefall right now. I actually think this season they really shouldn't be, there's enough about their squad to stay up. Arguably they deserve to go down after the last few years, but I like the local away game.

Re: Next seasons kit

I'm torn between 2 and 3 for the home. I do like classic hoops, but I've no issue with varying the hoop based designs, and the third one here is a bit weird somehow (I think it's the white sleeves). 1 all the way for away though.

Last year is just weird to me. It barely registers in my memories. I was grateful of something to watch, and I watched more non-Darlo football than ever before during the pandemic (or at least since I was a kid anyway), but… I don’t have any fond memories of our cup run really. It’s not just not bei...

There's plenty of teams with inadequate grounds in this league who still do better. It shouldn't prevent on-field results. We're not very good right now because the team isn't quite right, isn't playing very well, and the squad is a bit imbalanced. Gray got us to the playoffs when the ground was obj...

Re: Southport...

I don't understand why we have to have this self-pity party every time we go on a bad run or have a bad result. 'Gone as far as we can' etc. Our budget is comparable to other teams that have gotten out of this league, and certainly those that made the playoffs. It's difficult, but it's not impossibl...

Hasn’t he just recently had Covid too? If that’s the case, he won’t be match fit yet. Correct. AA and the coaching staff manage him in training and will have a far better view of him and his fitness than some uninformed posters on here and social media. I’d prefer to trust their judgement. Not sure what being 'woke' or 'vegan' has to do with any of that. I miss Feethams, and old Football Stadiums in general, but the kids and younger generations didn't 'update' football. The process began in the 90's, and generally (this might shock you to learn), adults tend to make the big decisions....

Re: Darlington v Hereford Saturday 9th October 2021

I mean, there are about 6-8 rich clubs now in the UK. My biggest concern is that we are basically on a path to a super league by proxy. Those 6-8 clubs are so wildly rich compared to even other Premier League sides... so how do the others compete in future? The precedent has been set now, so what's ...

I'm pretty sure you've got the wrong end of the stick upthread, q4l. I think 'Old Git' - or rather TKOA - was suggesting that four years was very much within the foreseeable future and that there was every chance the Toon could be winning trophies by that time. Given that Sheikh Mansour's wealth is...

I'm really not sure 'if Telford scored every change they had, it could have been 3-3' from a game that finished 3-0 is a reasonable comment... as though teams take every chance at this level? We comfortably deserved the win. It was a big improvement, and pleasing after an improved second half last w...
