Kevin Dos Santos Signs, Charman New Contract

Bit of positive news this morning.....

Kevin Dos Santos has signed from Tadcaster Albion. Right winger/left winger, 21 years old.

Re: Players on trial

I think how well we do next season, ultimately depends on our next 5 signings. That might sound blatantly obvious, but it will depend if these next signings are just squad players, or can genuinely make a different to the starting 11. We need: A dominant centre-half (David Wheater or Jake Lawlor etc...

Finance Update

Surprised this has gone under the radar a bit, but the club provided an update last week on financial matters: https://darlingtonfc.co.uk/news/post-year-end-update-statement -Net profit made for 20/21, slightly higher than £14,045 last year. -Net cash has improved on from 19/20. -The £64,800 loan fr...

Erm is this the player some supporters (and DJ) helped fund his operation?
We don’t know the circumstances of his departure yet. His knee injury may well be the reason why he has left.

Re: Alex Purver

Seems like a very decent signing, at a good age, with plenty of NLN experience. I still think we need a centre-back, another centre-mid, two wingers and a centre-forward to compete with Charman. We’ve lost a lot of pace with Campbell & Sousa departing, so I’d like to see someone brought in with that...

George Smith is a good signing. Fairly impressed with him when I have seen him play for Harrogate & Gateshead.

Jordan Cook doesn’t have a club, and is based in the Sunderland area. I’d be surprised if we don’t ask the question given we only have Charman upfront.

Wilson kneeshaw is better than some are saying, I personally think he would be a good signing,
He had a serious injury and he has worked hard to get back to fitness, so it's a yes from me,
He can prove doubters,
Kneeshaw isn’t on trial.

Re: Erico Sousa

TBH he has been trying hard for another club but Grimsby not much of a step up, however the easier travel could be a deciding factor in their favour. If he does leave, we will need to replace him with someone quick & strong. Sousa could worry most teams on his day & I would be sorry to see him go. ...

It isn’t necessarily about Darlo v Pools. In this case, it should be Darlo v Singh. Re: Local'ish clubs released lists

I don't recall saying we shouldn't sign any midfielders. As regards Spencer, I wonder whether the travelling up was becoming a pain for him. He's a civil engineer on the highways and has spoken previously of the difficulties of juggling things. Of course - I know you didn't. My point was just that ...

Slipped under the radar this, but good to see the club has cleared the majority (if not all) of the loans due back to fans that borrowed money to the club in 2017 & 2018: https://darlingtonfc.co.uk/news/thanks-for-helping-our-finance This was listed in the 19/20 accounts as £37,337, with an addition...

Re: Local'ish clubs released lists

Any central midfielder (like Spencer) signing for us faces a real battle in trying to dislodge the Wheatley-Hatfield pairing. They may have to wait for injury or suspension. Any new centre-mid signed will pick up plenty of minutes across the season. They would not need to wait for injuries & suspen...

Jamie Spencer would be a good signing, as would Ben McKenna. Both, I should imagine, may return to their more regional routes but I wouldn't be surprised if we have offered contracts to both.

Yeah I’d be amazed if Hope was first choice. He’s 18 with a limited amount of senior appearances. Even by AA’s own admission, he hasn’t seen that much of him. Think he’s one we’ll aim to develop with him gradually getting more and more matches under his belt. Yes, and he is likely to be a cheap opt...

I would be surprised if the players we have signed are notably cheaper than those that have left in all honest. Player for player they could be more expensive. Mondal / Maguire, Taylor / Saltmer, Beeden / Hunt. Griffiths / Liddle We should have some budget left from Campbell, Reid, Watson as well. ...

From the interview the lad seems to have a bit about him too so hopefully a leader at the back as well. An interesting break from AAs policy of signing players from the area. For me a good thing as we don't need to focus completely on local lads. The balance needs to be right, with the bulk of your...

The actual Tommy Taylor we’re signing is an interesting one. Highly-rated by Scarborough fans (although they were very disappointed he took a sideways step to Buxton rather than moving up the pyramid). He was regarded as one of the best goalkeepers, if not the best, in the NPL last summer and had a ...
