Re: Potential new signings
When I Ty you call me a troll so no winning with you lad I (and others) think you’re a troll because you post daft things to get a reaction like: “It’s mid-June and we’ve clearly not finished all our signings but we’re going to finish bottom half” or “I’ve been a fan for 15 years but why do people ...

Re: Potential new signings
Looking at the likes of Kidderminster, Boston and even Peterborough Sports making quality signings is so frustrating. I honestly feel a bottom half finish this season is the reality. You are definitely a troll on the wind up. Another six weeks until the season starts, the bulk of last season’s squa...

Re: Retained list
Many options to stay full time in the NLN?
Does he? How do you know this?
Or are you just guessing again?

1. Gabbiadini (home to Exeter 1998-99 season. Completed his hat trick by beating three men and then lashing one into the top corner from 30 yards) 2. Gabbiadini (home to Leyton Orient 1999-00 season. Hit one on the outside of his boot and chipped the keeper on an angle) 3. Martin Smith (away to ….?...

Re: Retained list
Totally agree with this. Get him in! Yes, Beck has had his day but Ty O'Neill has his best days ahead of him & could link up well with Hazell Had his day? He’s 28, he was our best centre forward in a team that finished in the NLN play offs and has clearly improved since then. O’Neil had a good spel...

Re: Retained list
I'd sign O'Neill any day of the week on a 1 year deal with an option, no farting about with trials. In any case, he might have his sights set higher than us.
I rate O'Neill higher than Beck.
That's not to say that Beck couldn't be a good signing for us if we could get him.

Re: Just made Top 30
If they can't afford promotion to the National League on average gates of 2,680 then they are paying their players too much, me thinks.
Or they need to do a Darlo style boost the budget, let the fans be their rich benefactor.

Re: Just made Top 30
Those top few average attendances are absolutely eye popping. Well done to those clubs. Even Macclesfield 3,300... South Shields well ahead of us and Spennymoor now not far behind - though cheap and free tickets helps there. Most clubs seem to have had a good uplift in attendances after the covid st...

Re: Darlo’s worst XI
Kirk Jackson... enough said !!! I'd forgotten about Kirk. 21 games and one goal. This would be one more goal than I would have scored if I'd played 21 games for Darlo - or perhaps not :x There was another struggling striker from around this time too, I can't remember his name but I think he might h...

Re: Nathan Lowe
Prior to this season Lowe had 15 goals in 67 games for Shields and at FC United he had a goal every 4 games. You could see he has an eye for goal by what he did in our game at Gateshead. You're making the mistake of thinking that goals in the tin pot leagues mean something. The gulf between Evostik...

Re: George smith departs
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Griffiths and Hedley as fullbacks with Hope and another youngster as back up. Probably wiser using Smiths wage elsewhere in the team and get a young replacement for cover. That would be a bit of a gamble though in my opinion. We’ve got an expanded 46-game league seaso...

Re: Retained list
To be honest I think that Mondal and Rivers are lucky that they're already contracted for next season otherwise I'd fancy that they'd have been released. A bit sad to see Smith, Ellis and Cassidy go. It may be a case that we would have kept Ellis but he had the chance to go into management, so all t...

Who knows. If you can afford full time I think they would get a better return for their money if they just took a cherry picker to Altrincham, Curzon Ashton, Buxton and Matlock's squads. Get their best part-time players would get them through the next two divisions quick as anything. They do say th...

Re: Signings
Thing with Cassidy is, it shouldn’t come as a great surprise he’s not a goalscorer. He never has been so we weren’t signing him for his goalscoring record. We signed him because we needed more of a presence up front. In the previous two seasons, we were crying out for that type of forward, a physic...

Re: Signings
Pretty much in agreement with Lallacab on who we retain. Basically we lose Beeden, B Taylor, Hope, Storey, Wheatley, Mondal, Rivers, Cassidy, and make decisions on whether we're going to try and sign the loanees. I'd go for Thompson, Rose and possibly O'neill if any of them are available to sign per...

Re: New stadium funding
As an aside, I've just thought - say we did somehow get promoted next season, which is the earliest chance - that's at least 1 year and 4 months before we'd be kicking off in the National league, so perhaps by that time we might have firm plans in place for the new ground or may even be at the stage...

Re: New stadium funding
Agreed, five years seems a more realistic timeframe really. If it's sooner than that, I'd be amazed. It does raise some questions over what happens if we manage to get promoted in the interim, but that'd be a problem i'd be delighted for us to have to deal with! Agree on 5 years, it's not going to ...

Re: The penalty that wasn't
In defence of the referee I thought he had a decent game. The penalty is a really tight call, but he took his time, consulted the assistant and made his decision. The line is part of the box so I think he may have just got it right. Yes I thought he had a much improved match compared to the Glouces...
