Re: DAVID JOHNSON

I understand James Tedford, previously the Operations Director at Southport, has been invited as well.

Wonder it it was specific representatives from Step 2 clubs or all of them.

Re: Sutton United

I disagree Old Git. The artificial pitches may be better than they were but they don't match up to grass. The players don't like playing on them either. To me, by banning artificial pitches the EFL are putting the quality and integrity of the league first, which is not short sighted. It is funny as...

Re: Local'ish clubs released lists

The fans definitely want to sign Armstrong. From what I've seen of him there is no reason why he'd be dropping to our level this summer.

If Hartlepool don't go up he's another one that I could see as a Harrogate signing. He looks good enough for League Two, just maybe not Salford.

Re: The vote of no confidence in the National league.

I wonder where the fine money goes. With all the clubs involved it's a nice little earner, brought about by the League's incompetence, because let's face it - if the second tranche of funding had been loans then all clubs would have played on. Well strictly speaking it would be the clubs who would ...

Re: The vote of no confidence in the National league.

I suspect it's more they will argue that we didn't play that particular game was that we thought the season was going to end, so didn't want to incur costs that would effectively be wasted, and that isn't what they deem a valid reason. We will obviously be arguing that we were making a decision to c...

I'd rule out any that aren't at least native to the north of England, can't see them being tied to the region to sign for us.

Congratulations on a massive total, surpassing all expectations. Now up to AA to build the squad that takes us up to NL.However, Covid might still scupper things with crowd numbers restrictions & potential travel bans so may have to rely on QTV which brings NL rules into conflict with fans needs. Their coverage in general of local news and sport has declined to a depressingly dire level. I wouldn't use them as a metric for anything.
Fair enough. In that case I guess we shouldn't really be bothered what they do.

Re: Boost the budget 2021

The Northern Echo is an irrevelance now anyway. Haha I suspect that might be how the NE feel about a 6th tier football club. Regardless of the brilliant effort made the issue is how much do other people actually 'care'. It feels like it should be a newsworthy, given what local news usually entails ...

Re: The vote of no confidence in the National league.

Good post en passant. I go along with what you've put. The reality is the NLN and NLS clubs need to identify the candidates they want to appoint to board positions and then vote them in. There are enough vacancies going. Lo, I'm wondering if this is even possible? We've seen on numerous occasions t...

Re: The vote of no confidence in the National league.

I don’t understand your viewpoint Lo tbh. I'm saying blaming Mark Ives for something which predated his role is probably a tad unfair. Equally that demanding to replace a board where 60% or something have already left their roles isn't exactly that productive. The reality is most of those who were ...

Re: The vote of no confidence in the National league.

Interestingly clear support for Mark Ives in that and clear reference to the issues being with the arts...and also the view that the NL clubs won't vote to diminish their power. I don't read it that way. Ives hasn't got 'clear support" - yes there were a few hollow platitudes thrown his way in this...

Re: Ty o,neil

If we could get him seems like a no brainer tbh. A choice between him and Charman for the ST role, ideally supported by Sousa / Mondal / Rivers and Holmes would be a strong and exciting forward line. Sousa has not yet signed and probably won't, Mondal we know nothing about, Holmes hasn't played in ...

Re: The vote of no confidence in the National league.

Tbf that is more like a shareholder system in a listed company. Whoever pays for more shares gets more control. One member one vote is infinitely more fair, as everyone acts in their own self interest regardless. Those with more money / more fans will then do what is in their best interests. The cur...

Re: The vote of no confidence in the National league.

Well it's certainly not democratic when a "convincing" result is won by the least amount of cast votes!! Jesus H Christ!! Trump won 304 to 227 in 2016. Pretty convincing right? In terms of popular vote he got 46.1% v 48.2% (Clinton). The US is still recognised as a democracy as far as I am aware.

Re: The vote of no confidence in the National league.

Proper governance route. Clubs nominate and vote for new board members. The GM is accountable to that board and is employed by them to run the company. As clubs "we" need to identify board members and then vote them into positions. They then have the power to appoint a different GM. That is the prop...

Not sure I’m buying the idea the general manager has no responsibility.
It would be the equivalent of a CEO of a FTSE100 company trying to change the voting rights of shareholders.

Pretty sure DJ said we supported no confidence. I am not sure abstain votes are by definition votes in support of a motion either. Sure there as talk that the motion wasn't to remove what was left of the board (circa 80% have already left after all) it was to try to use it as a trigger to change som...

Too bloody right. I don't think Lo would like it if my vote was five times more important than his at a general election. Agree, but I don't think that would make you a dictator. Re: The vote of no confidence in the National league.

I see the National League board are calling the result "convincing" It beggars belief how undemocratic the league structure is. More clubs voted yes than no - ie more clubs have no confidence as opposed to think things are okay YET the league board spin out that they’ve convincingly won. It’s like ...

Taylor
Griffiths
Beeden
Storey
Hope
Hedley
Hatfield
Wheatley
Sousa
Charman
Mondal / Rivers

Definitely need a centre midfielder, and without doubt cover beyond a starting XI!

Looks strong though.
