Re: Potential new signings

Having the trio of Taylor, Wheater and Lawlor signed up for me is the bit we have really been missing in previous seasons.

There are a couple of bits missing and some back up needed but feel less like fundamental gaps than we have had previously.

Re: Retained list

Pretty much as you have said of course it's a guess - isnt that what all transfer rumour and supposition is? I just think there are sufficient full time sides who Beck would be more than good enough for. Halifax, York, Gateshead, Spennymoor and South Shields are the obvious ones to me. I'll be hones...

Re: Retained list

Its a windfall and it gives breathing space but it shouldn't MENA we don't sign players who are good enough, fit in with what we need because they don't have a sell on value.

Reality is Beck has many options to stay full time in NLN even if he doesn't get fixed up elsewhere.

Re: Retained list

Totally agree Beck has nothing to prove given his history, but we need to be bringing on young players who may then attract bigger clubs in with a transfer fee. If only it were that easy. We need the best players possible within our budget. We won't be funding a ground through the odd £20k-£50k fee...

Re: Retained list

If Beck were available it's a no brainer. Might be an over significant drop though - notice Gateshead have lost both their strikers this summer already - not sure he suits Williamson's preferred style of play mind. Defenders hate playing against him regardless of what he scores. He causes problems i...

They're run by three women, which I'm sure they'll say gives them a very different (and probably positive) perspective.
Different approach and to some extent a different outcome it would seem.

Re: Just made Top 30

They definitely have the benefit of their location both in terms of connectivity and sheer size of the population who can get there easily. They only have to galvanise a small portion of their local(ish) community to boost their attendances Still, as with many of the above. Get your local community ...

Re: Just made Top 30

Wrexham are proving that, despite having wealthy investors and very healthy attendances, it's no guarantee of league football. Some surprises in there too - Dulwich Hamlet are a mid table NLS team but are putting some League clubs to shame. Gateshead, despite a very successful season don't make the...

Long shot, but what about Marcus Carver from scumlepool?
Didn't they only just sign him in January? He's contracted for this season so I guess a loan would be possible.

I have a suspicion that if he were available then Jamie would be in for him from Buxton.

Re: Just made Top 30

Back in 2007/2008 season we had about 4k fans turning up every week.... Yep and we couldn't sustain the cost of that squad with those attendances. Suggests we have an inelastic quality / demand curve compared to other clubs. The cost of improving quality outweighs the extra fans (and revenue) that ...

Re: Retained list

They are full time this season aren't they? That was the intent when they hired Johnson and Morley it was explicitly advertised as a role for a full time squad. I would be more surprised if we could compete. You wonder what Buxton are throwing at things this season. Whatever it is convinced Jamie Ve...

I think Drewe played for free. If so we need to give him the benefit of the doubt - also he was playing in a poor team, which doesn't make things any easier. Can't remember the specifics but weren't we beyond the player registration deadline so all our signings needed special dispensation. Broughto...

Yeah, he played for us in our first conference season. Wasn't bad by any stretch, but I think I was hoping he'd be a bit more productive than he was. Always thought he was one of those players who peaked too young There was a documentary about him and how good he was, it may be over simplifying it ...

JJ Hooper is available from South Shields - not sure if he would be a decent option or not.
Is he out of contract or listed ? Decent player to be fair
Listed but imagine it's to get him off their wage bill for Phillips signings.

Danny Johnson - but aware this is very over optimistic
Has he been released by Mansfield? Thought he had another year on his contract.
He’s been made available for transfer
Ahhh. Can't help but think Gateshead or York would be interested if he is going to drop mind.

It's amazing to think that we reached the target with 533 investors (at the time of writing). Last year we had over 700 investors - if everyone invests again this year who knows what figure we will reach.
Over 700 pledges.

There will have been fewer individual investors I think.

Re: BTB - It's back

Wouldn't surprise me if it was pitched a little shy of what was hoped for given there is a psychological boost which comes from smashing it v falling just short.

Just shy of 500 pledges this year v last year with 712 suggest there is still a way to go.

Re: BTB - It's back

Staggering if we get near last season's total given the way things are.

You wonder if it would be prudent for the club to make extra provisions for pledges not to be fulfilled at we get into winter this year as the price 'cap' goes up.
