Re: Southport V Darlington

Think some people are massively over estimating what the Boost the Budget gives us by the way. Certainly is never a guarantee of success and also don't we also know there is budget left as Armstrong didn't want to waste it when he couldn't get the players in of the calibre he wanted. Bit disingenuou...

Re: FA Trophy round 3

Anyone hear the rumours that they were a way of getting celtic into the english leagues? I heard that may have been the gamble that they may progress and almost become adopted. The shift to a logo which was a clover inside a green circle and green and white hooped strip was probably quite intention...

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

The club are appealing for the person who threw liquid at a Gloucester player to come forward to explain their actions. I understand that the club have to investigate this if a complaint has been made, but really are the players of today so soft that this is a big deal. It looked to me like the per...

Re: Boston V Darlington

I think AA said on interview that the ref said Cassidy was sent off because he didn't touch the ball. It looks from the video he does get the ball first. Would what they ref said make a difference in any appeal, or would it purely go down on the lunge/force of the tackle etc? Zero difference the re...

Re: Boston V Darlington

Is it worth appealing against the red card , or a pointless exercise? Depends what basis you are appealing on. If it's because the other guy didn't get sent off then no, if it's because another tackle another time wasn't red carded then no, if it's because he won the ball and the other manager said...

Re: Boston V Darlington

To be fair the referee is right on top of it and it won't have helped that Cassidy would have been lunging towards him. Had this discussion on twitter today. Sometimes a ref can be too close to an incident to see it clearly. When I have reffed games I would try and be around 20 yards from where the...

Re: Boston V Darlington

Red card, for me the ref got it right. Lunging in from a high position is never going to end well we can discount the opinion of our own supporters who thought it was - not sure what their agenda is. Does an opinion need an agenda? He lunges that much is obvious, his leg is straight. I've paused it...

Re: Boston V Darlington

Came from slightly behind and wrapped both legs around the ball to win it. Is that a foul these days? "Wrapping both legs" and "from behind" sounds a bit dodgy tbh but it all depends on the level of force. Think you run a risk if you leave the ground (assumed he'd have to leave the ground if both l...

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

Apart from the many thousands of investment fund managers in the UK who are named and whose investment goals/targets are publicised and then measured against the actual performance of the funds. Very easy to identify the failing ones. Sound. When officials are paid the same as fund managers and FTS...

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

My big frustration with refs as it always has been is lack of transparency. We as fans don't get to see their scores from the Home team, away team and assessor The reality is this will never happen. In no area of work are individual performance reviews published to the customers / stakeholders of a...

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

Yeh it's a red card - well it looks red, in my opinion, from that angle. AR1 can't help much it is the wrong side of them to see the swing. Ref should have had a decent view but clearly didn't see the extent of it especially to swing the free kick around the other way. As for the rest. Its not a fou...

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

Out of interest, lo, how long is a referee's assistant meant to keep her/his flag up for once she/he has flagged for offside? If it's the free kick I'm thinking of, I thought the issue was that TT was being told to take the ball back, but didn't know where he was meant to be taking it back to, as t...

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

But what you haven’t addressed is Taylor was forcibly told by the referee earlier in the game about the same thing (remonstrating and pointing at the place he should take the kick 3 times). I’ve told you this countless times, but you just ignore that. That is irrelevant. It still isn't an offence. ...

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

Lo, please don’t think I’m picking on you but with the Taylor incident the Ref did make a fuss. He came running in fast and hard and rightly told Taylor to move the ball back. So now he’s done that, he is still reasonably close and watches Taylor take no notice. I mean if it doesn’t matter, don’t m...

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

Yes numbers are down but then you look at how much the FA charge to qualify and think nah I’m not paying that. Plus from what I understand they have put other things in place that makes it more difficult for already qualified refs to continue. A long standing ref who I know, ex league linesman, sai...

I left the house at 6am and got home at 1am on Wednesday for £60 match fee...or £34.80 after tax and national insurance... For night game? Takes you 3 hours to get home but you set off at 6am? Plus you will get travelling expenses which more than cover your costs and them some! If it’s anything lik...

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

Managing restarts from distance is the problem. If it's an issue get close and manage them actively. If it's a repeat issue get in place the ball, stand on a free kick. Get your fourth to stand in the way on a throw in so they can't go further. The reality is these things are told not to make a fuss...

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

So a high arm used for leverage which makes contact with an opponents face (I’m assuming you’ve seen both stills) is still a foul, I’m assuming you still agree with that. Again, because you only seem to read certain parts of posts, I’m not saying whether it was a red or yellow, but to give a free k...

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

Read it Lo. It doesn't have to involve force or brutality, a challenge that endangers the safety of a player is a red card offence. I would think flailing your elbow at a player's face would be included in that. Underlying requirement is excessive force. Per law..."Using excessive force is when a p...

SERIOUS FOUL PLAY A tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force or brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play. Force or brutality. See you said it. A still image cannot possibly enable a judgement of either of those. It could be wrong but I'd need to ...

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

Problem is you very rarely trust your OWN fans and going back to the dissent, the ref wasn’t happy with where the ball was placed and told Taylor several times then and on another occasion , but still allowed him to take it. I and others have told you that many times now, but you clearly haven’t li...

what kicked off in the second half in front of the seated stand with the Gloucester player (Mensah?) when the ref was called over then ran across the piych to speak to his linesman and a steward near the dugouts? Re: Darlo v Gloucester

I think I’m right in saying you’re a ref? Assuming you are, if a player on a number of occasions doesn’t listen to you and shows dissent through either his words or actions and you had spoken to him before about it, you wouldn’t caution him? If it is an act of actual dissent. That is the point bein...

Nope if was a match day and funny enough there were football league games who needed officials. Weird take. A clear booking yet the ref just ran away. Out of interest what are you cautioning for? An act of dissent? Aggressive attitude? Failing to respect the distance from a restart? Delaying the restart of play? Over celebration inciting crowd safety issues? Can't just make up reasons to caution people. ...

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

They are a full-time team and are unlikely ...
