Re: Darlo v Gloucester

Remember our game at Fylde a few seasons back when that club was selling beer to anyone (whether drunk, sober, very young or old) all the way through the game and let people take it onto the terraces. Their keeper seem to get showered in beer shampoos... at least it looked like beer! Yes, I remembe...

Re: Hecky rules again.

It's a long time. What quite often happens after a sacking is the manager doesn't get a payoff but just keeps on drawing his salary. I have a friend who knows a current EFL manager and he told me last year that he was getting a wage from 3 different clubs

Why is our focus so poor from the kick-off?
Straight after halftime kickoff on Saturday, 2 goals down. Straight after kickoff last night, 2 goals down. I don't know the answer to your question though, I took it as a rhetorical question.

Re: Blyth Spartans

Taylor is a massive upgrade at keeper, I have no worries like I have for 3/4 seasons. I would agree with this but he can be a bit hot headed. An eccentric/vocal/involved goal keeper is a good thing but you need to keep a cool head sometimes too. At times, in the second half of Saturday's game he go...

Re: Boston V Darlington

Definitely need Ellis tonight. When the ball gets chucked in to "the mixer" he seems 100% focused on being the first person to get to it. Not only this he looks like he's enjoying himself too

Boston tomorrow evening, which won't be an easy task but there's no reason to doubt that we can take something from the match.
Probably a number of injured players knowing the way they play.

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

Managing restarts from distance is the problem. If it's an issue get close and manage them actively. If it's a repeat issue get in place the ball, stand on a free kick. Get your fourth to stand in the way on a throw in so they can't go further. The reality is these things are told not to make a fus...

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

Of course placing the ball in the wrong position isn’t an outburst of dissent, but doing it on several occasions when the referee has told you to take the ball back and either refuses to do so, or clearly moving it back a few inches is. If you don’t think that is and as a referee don’t at the very ...

what kicked off in the second half in front of the seated stand with the Gloucester player (Mensah?) when the ref was called over then ran across the piych to speak to his linesman and a steward near the dugouts?
A drink was thrown at him apparently.

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

I think I’m right in saying you’re a ref? Assuming you are, if a player on a number of occasions doesn’t listen to you and shows dissent through either his words or actions and you had spoken to him before about it, you wouldn’t caution him? If it is an act of actual dissent. That is the point bein...

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

There was another incident that also fired me up. A Gloucester player goes down injured in front of the seated stand, he starts off (I’m pretty sure about this) off the pitch, then rolls onto the pitch. Eventually a delay insures but wait a minute, no away team physiotherapist is active, so more del...

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

A clear booking yet the ref just ran away. Out of interest what are you cautioning for? An act of dissent? Aggressive attitude? Failing to respect the distance from a restart? Delaying the restart of play? Over celebration inciting crowd safety issues? Can't just make up reasons to caution people. ...

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

Here’s a little example from yesterday’s game. Just one thing amongst the many. At the end of the game, in the final minutes, our goalie TT attempted to take a free kick from obviously the wrong position (maybe 15-20 feet too far forward) and the ref stormed towards him and ordered him to move the b...

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

The injured player rolling on to the pitch was a good one. This stopped play for a good while and it’s been ages since I’ve seen this ploy. The linesman on that side should have spotted it. Their opening goal  Premier league standard, he just caught it right - and a thought about Kev - he d...

Brilliant. It sent me back thinking about the last time I watched a Darlo game that came alive like that and I settled on the Spennymoor playoff semi at Bishop Auckland. I've been suspicious of early goals ever since England lost to Germany at Euro 96, and when Darlo occasionally get one it worries ...

York were a well run club up until recently, now they don’t own their own stadium and have to rent.

Other clubs rent and it’s not a problem in itself but you can only sell the family silver once.

When it comes to Darlo and the F.A. cup to me it conjures up visions of Conlon's missed penalty against Peterborough. For those who were lucky enough to have missed it, what happened was this - it was at Feethams under the floodlights, the winner of the tie would end up playing Newcastle at home (Sh...
