Re: Marske away in the Cup (if we beat Chester)

Don't tell AA but if we should make it through the pitch at Marske looks a bit bobbly with long grass :D . Their game with Shields looked a bit scrappy but they scored with three very good finishes, two of which followed long balls over the top. I'm sure Hopson, Gott, Burgess (and Ian Clark) would l...

Re: Darlington V Chester

We'll have to perform better to get through to the next round although a first clean sheet is welcome. I'm sure Chester will feel that the hardest part of the job has been done.

I'll be taking me Flymo down to BM before the next home game!

Re: Darlington V Chester

Fair result in the end. Not much happened in the first half and they defended well when we upped the tempo in the second half. The game featured one of the strangest refereeing decisions I've ever seen. In the second half their full back fell as he dealt with a long ball and seem to handle it (witho...

Re: Brackley away 14/9/21

The footage is poor but the quality of that first goal really shines through. The passing, movement and finish really was something special. Cassidy is emerging as quite a find.

Re: Brackley away 14/9/21

Looks like we may well have the solid defensive line-up we've been looking for because big, physical Brackley provide the toughest of tests. Presumably Rotherham have given permission for Cooper to feature for us in the FA Cup. Good to see Storey showing the sort of form that we all knew he was capa...

Re: Brackley away 14/9/21

Can't wait, three and a half hours on the road to the Northern powerhouse city of Brackley for the lads followed by a game against the single-goal-victory kings. I really wish these feckers would just bugger off and get promoted despite the locals being a welcoming and friendly bunch. They seem to b...

Re: Blyth v Darlo

While I get AA's frustration at the way we gift-wrapped them a two-goal lead, I must admit I would have been more inclined to highlight the positives of the way the players hauled us back into the game. Hopefully we will soon get to a place where we don't have to score three or four goals to win a g...

Re: Blyth v Darlo

"We spoke about them not being great at defending," said the Blyth boss after the game and he wasn't kidding as two hoisted balls into the box handed them free headers and a two-goal start. We were much better with a back four when Beeden came off and Cooper operated next to Storey. In the end Blyth...

He has also played 30 games at this level and managed to get 3 goals as a bonus. So he'll know all about the physical side of National North football and by all accounts did very well at Gateshead and loved the challenge.

Re: New signings?

Whitby's preferred centre back pairing has largely been Lewis Ritson and Dan Rowe with Burn on the bench. Ritson is from South Shields and used to captain Hull's under-23s. Ritson and Rowe have both been performing very well for Whitby and Rowe is their captain.

Re: Raj singh Northern echo interview

I wonder if he had taken control of the club for a second time having left it in tatters the first time how much Darlington FC would be in debt to Raj Singh plc (or whatever it is known as) by this stage. Although I seem to remember that when he wrecked us last time he said if the fans were taking c...

Re: New signings?

I thought that overall the crowd was very supportive yesterday in trying to lift the players back into the game. There may be more difficult times over the next couple of weeks as it will be tough getting anything out of the Blyth game in all the circumstances and midweek at Brackley almost has the ...

Re: Darlo v Bradford PA

The alarming bit in AA's interview was when he said: "We went into training on Thursday looking to change it but we didn't get the right attitude from certain players so we didn't change it."

That doesn't sound good at all. It doesn't give the impression of harmony.

Re: Darlo v Bradford PA

We dominated possession today and should have got got an equaliser when that fantastic chance presented itself. But of course we shot ourselves in the foot yet again with two more defensive lapses. You can't give anyone a two goal start like that and clean sheets seem a million miles away. I do thin...

Re: Darlo v Bradford PA

If I was the Bradford boss and had seen our first couple of games I would stick big Adam Nowakowski up front as often as possible. The £1 a week man isn't afraid to go in where it hurts but hopefully AA has come up with a cunning plan for us to deal with threats in and around the box this time.

Re: New signings?

In the case of Storey I don't think AA or the fans have felt he wasn't good enough. He certainly has ability and everyone felt it was a good move that he stayed with us for this season. He has been a decent player for us but has put in below par performances recently for whatever reason. Hopefully h...

Another one bites the dust. Covid has taken hold in the Telford squad and their game at Boston tomorrow is off. "Telford have announced that several members of the first team have tested positive for COVID-19 and that many others have also started to feel unwell."

Re: Fan owned club

The problem is that for some we will only be a proper and worthwhile club if we return to our traditional place as a league club now. They are not willing to accept our position as a competitive, non-league club which strives to move forward and they seem to believe there is some sort of conspiracy ...

Re: Curzon 31.08

Well look at the 2016-17 season when AA was in charge of Blyth and they won the NPL. They finished on 101 points and scored 114 goals with 44 against (fewer than any other team in the league). That suggests a solid enough side to me. Some circumstances have combined so far this season along with som...

Re: Curzon 31.08

The Blyth team that reached the play-offs let in 62 goals, as many as TW's Darlo. Maybe you will always have a poor defence when AA is in charge and you hope you can cover that up with attacking talent. If that's an attempt to say that AA doesn't know what he's doing, it's one of the most ridiculou...

Re: Curzon 31.08

We stood off their player and gave him the freedom of the penalty area for the first and allowed the ball to bounce around right in front of the goal for the second with no-one showing any determination or steel to clear it. Schoolboy defending like that is unforgiveable and Curzon couldn't quite be...

Re: Darlington V Alfreton

That defence worries the hell out of me. Hopefully it's a work in progress because Alfreton found it way to easy to cut through our back line. If they continue to operate at that level we won't be keeping clean sheets. From what I saw Purver, Griffiths and Rivers should all be starting on Monday.

Re: Curzon 31.08

Personally I think clubs should always accommodate cash at the turnstiles rather than having to buy online tickets. Curzon have also set the adult online tickets at a meaty £16.26 and their home attendance against Guiseley was 254, with around a third of them from Guiseley. A fair few Northern Leagu...

Billy Heath has continued his policy of signing the biggest players he can find so we'll need to hone our defence to cope with the usual barrage of long throws, free-kicks, huge punts, corners and physical aggression. Alfreton actually had a very good pre-season, but have been awful so far when it c...
