Re: Southport V Darlington

Fortunately among those who would ultimately decide on this kind of thing there is complete faith in AA and the rebuilding job that has been taking shape. And quite rightly so. It's a longer term project than a few games and we will see the benefit going forward. There's a bigger picture here that c...

Re: Graeme Lee

Micky Nelson has done well to get the assistant's job there after getting the push at Blyth following their horrendous run of results. I get the feeling Raj has had a big eye on the managerial wage bill in his appointments. The fact that the new boss has no experience as a manager or assistant manag...

Re: Southport V Darlington

Jake Cooper also played as a striker as a kid and I think was initially with Sheff United in that role before making the switch to central defence. He's not bad at getting on the end of things at set pieces.

Re: Southport V Darlington

Just imagine how far that ridiculous Southport long-throw merchant will be able to hurl it, hurricane assisted, tomorrow.

There may be some travel disruption to contend with trying to cross the country as high winds continue.

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

Remember our game at Fylde a few seasons back when that club was selling beer to anyone (whether drunk, sober, very young or old) all the way through the game and let people take it onto the terraces. Their keeper seemed to get showered in beer shampoos... at least it looked like beer!

Re: Boston V Darlington

I think most looking at that would say that if Cassidy's challenge is a red, then the Boston player should also have walked as well. It looks unfair in the context of two similar challenges. Yet again we got the s*** end of the stick from the officials but we'll just have to get on with it because t...

Re: Boston V Darlington

I was so pissed off by the ten minutes of madness last night but I remain convinced that the strong squad which has been pieced together will, with time and patience, give us a good season... and an entertaining one. I look forward with a good deal of optimism because the right framework is in place...

Re: RE: Chester FC

Things had begun to break down some time ago. Johnson gave some jaw-dropping post-match interviews after defeats in which he almost seemed to be inviting the sack. It was along the lines of "That was terrible, it's just not good enough and the recruitment has been poor." Then he offered no plan or v...

Re: Boston V Darlington

They've got a strong home record with five wins from seven. But the return of Charman is a real boost for us following his three-match ban for trying to get to his feet after being pinned to the floor by a Southport player. This will be a tough midweek test but we can get something if we are at our ...

Apart from the many thousands of investment fund managers in the UK who are named and whose invesment goals/targets are publicised and then measured against the actual performance of the funds. Very easy to identify the failing ones.

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

I've quoted the law as it's written in black and white and it states that a challenge that endangers the safety of a player is a red card offence. It couldn't be clearer.

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

Read it Lo. It doesn't have to involve excessive force or brutality, a challenge that endangers the safety of a player is a red card offence. I would think flailing your elbow at a player's face would be included in that. You'd be better off trying to defend the ref after you've seen it rather than ...

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

SERIOUS FOUL PLAY

A tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force or brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play.

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

Awful though the ref was I'm not sure making an official complaint will be in our best interests going forward and nor do I think it will achieve anything. He was very inconsistent and made a lot of mistakes in his handling of the game and missed a lot of things but I would be happier if we just mov...

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

Someone chucked a drink at a Gloucester player who was time wasting, the ref was nowhere near it. Think an apple would have been better for the ref, older fans will remember the Tom Fitzharris incident years ago  As for the incident today, someone in the crowd between the Tin Shed and the Stan...

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

The ref was terrible and it seems to be just about every other game now. He missed a very clear flailing elbow directed at Cassidy and turned down what seemed very good penalty shouts as well seeming to only have eyes for Gloucester on the freekicks front. There was also a blatant foul by Gloucester...

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

Solihull are full-time with a big squad and usually top half but don't fit in with your ballpark figure if their quoted £900,000 is right.

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

According to their owner they have one of the top four budgets in the league and I think they are now over budget because they have had to bring in more players to arrest their disastrous start to the season despite already having a decent squad on paper. They are a full-time team and are unlikely t...

Re: York City.

I think they'll be OK in the long run, the safety cushion of a supportive city council and the guarantee and security of a ground to play on will ensure that. The ground is of a great size, has fantastic sporting and community facilities around it and will be completely viable. York greater area has...

Re: FA Trophy 2nd Rnd Draw

On the positive side, Southport will be thinking this is a fairly routine passage to the next round after our abject surrender in the league match. If we can sort out our obvious weakness in coping with a succession of big punts into the box, we might surprise them with our passing game. If you can ...

Re: Chester Away

Their goalkeeper was terrible. He may have stopped a couple of one-on-ones that we hit straight at him but he was all over the place for the corner we scored from and the second goal he just handed to us on a plate after a weak shot from Griffiths. It looked like an open, exciting game with plenty o...

Re: Chester Away

Two of the three Southport goals were free headers as was Chorley's late winner (that goal was someone running in as Johnson describes) and, of course, two headers, two goals yesterday. Maybe that will be addressed when, as seems likely, Ellis is playing alongside Lawlor. I do feel a bit sorry for S...

Re: Chester Away

We seemed to have sorted out the problems of switching off at the back at critical times but it returned today just when we should have had it won comfortably. Shame because after the own goal early on last week the defence was rock solid and saw out the game superbly well.

I don't think even Raj Singh would be that insane. Miller's beginning to look like a rabbit in the headlights, especially since Spenny had to bring Ainsley back as Head of Football.
