Not surprised by Hunt's release, as he didn't dominate our defense like I'd hoped he would. Saltmer never generated much confidence & I'm sure there are better options out there. Never saw Hunt or Saltmer play, apart from on TV at Bristol Rovers.
Did you not watch Quaker TV Pete?

Re: Favourite ever Darlo video clip/highlight & why

Got to be Robbie Painter's goal at Leeds in front of the packed away end. For Feethams noise, Steve Gaughan scoring the only goal of the game vs Hartlepool in 95/6, remember Radio Cleveland replaying the commentary and the roar actually sounded like a proper football match! And it was scored at the ...

Turn a page in the program into a football pitch and then divide into yard squares. Sell each square or number of squares at £1 or more per square and put fans name on them for the season, (or initials if too small to see name). Between the goal posts, centre spot, and penalty spots cost double. No...

Re: Board Statement 15 Feb

How is it that we can play in the trophy and not the league? Surely if we are playing at all (and training) then the players are being paid in full. If that's the case then we might as well play league games as we're paying the players anyway. Yes away trips cost money but will limited income from s...

This will be the same Fylde who wanted last season to be Null and void when they were about to be relegated  I trawled through the news stories on the Fylde website and didn't pick up this vibe. They were unhappy about being relegated on ppg and considered legal action about that decision but...

I've been a bit of a moaner last couple of selections, 2 seasons ago when we chose the same design 2 seasons running (well I say we, I certainly didn't vote for it) and was it last time when an extra shirt was added after the first vote? I think these 4 are a refreshing change from the usual bland o...

Anything but back to the horrible black & blue stripes that appeared years ago...but then again I am sure some on here would have even liked that monstrosity lol.
I'm wearing that shirt right now, I wasn't struck on it at the time but it's growing on me now 28 years later.

Darlington under AA have always played their best football and won their most games with a solid and mobile 3 in midfield, a relatively mobile back 4 and a mobile front 3. The team playing this season have not consistently had anyway near this solidity, mobility or formation. Best team performances...

Re: Forgotten New year day fixtures

Not one I quite remember but the stand-out scoreline from new year's day fixtures is 1930, Darlo 8 - 3 South Shields, League division 3 North. A hat-trick each for Fred Laycock and Jack Hill. Jack Hill scored 9 goals in 7 games that season including another hat-trick in a 5-2 win at home to York in ...

Excellent read. I would commend it to all 'owners'. So there you have it, Spen, in black and white: "thousands of pounds as a ‘signing on’ fee, plus a very good weekly wage" to play for the Pride of County Durham.
This for a 33-year old bit-part player, what were they paying their top players????

The R rate is lower than here in London in Darlington... I can't see why it won't be Tier 2. Tbh I think tying going to an appropriately distanced outside stadium to these rankings is absurd. Especially when retail is open. London are expected to go into Tier 3 aren't they? It might be but also the...

Whilst I'm mot arsed if its played again or not, had the ref done his job properly then they wouldnt have scored the second goal so there would have only been the 1 goal in it with stoppage time still to play. Nicky Hunt’s welfare is the paramount concern here. For the record I think Boston should be awarded the game 2-0 and the 3 points. Can't argue with that, might have felt different if there was one in it but 2 goals in 4 minutes with 10 men was unlikely. Not sure the league will take into account ho...

Re: Swindon away

Anyone checked the Swindon goal for offside? The "squared" ball went forward, the attacker is ahead of the 2 closest defenders, only Michael Liddle may be playing him onside but the distance he is from it and the angle make it difficult to tell.
Didn't think the Rivers "foul" was a penalty.

Re: What the Arena should've been

If you compare the Arena to a sensible sized (8-10k) seater modern stadium of similar design (i.e. a concourse under/behind all 4 sides), surely the footprint would be close to the same size, the difference being the height of the structure which affects the building costs for sure but does it reall...
