Re: Hybrid next season

I suppose it's possible that the management and players are describing this casually within the club as "hybrid", and that's seeping out into interviews, which might create a bit of confusion. DJ seemed pretty clear on it though.

Re: Hybrid next season

DJ talks about this in his boost the budget interview. It doesn't sound hybrid to me - they're adding in a third training session, but it will only be used when needed and the players' contracts have been drawn so they only get paid for the extra training when it's used.

Re: George smith departs

Purver has filled in okay on defence when asked to. maybe with hedley playing so well there purver and hope are being kept on as backup and Smith's wage is being freed up to strengthen elsewhere. Was an old Penney trick having players who could cover several positions. Gives you a bit more slack on ...

Re: Kidderminster V Darlington

I think if we're picking out players who won't be here next year based on yesterday, I'd be very surprised now if O'Neill were to return. I get the feeling he's maybe in a bit of a slump after tumbling down the divisions, after being regarded as one to watch when he was a youth at Boro. I hope he ge...

Yeah, rubbish game, didn't deserve to win, Lowe was mom for me though and hit the bar with a very good free kick.

Robbie Dale

See Robbie Dale is leaving Blyth again. Interestingly, Blyth don't say he's retiring, they say he's leaving - wonder if he's actually going to pitch up at another club up that way. Shields perhaps?

Re: Farsley match thread

The highlights strongly suggest we need Lambert to stick about. All our creative play seems to revolve around him, and he has a little bit of trickery to open up chances for other players I do wonder too whether rose and moke are quite similar, and whether maybe we could do with more drive from one ...

Re: NPL and Southern Central play offs

Both seem a very long time ago now, almost too long ago for this to make sense, and I think they won their own respective leagues this year, but yes, I think you're right.

Re: NPL and Southern Central play offs

I think it's only one down because they're expanding the league, and there's a vacancy due to somebody going bust (but I can't remember who now)

Re: The Top 12, Monday April 18th 2022

I'm assuming two teams up from each division? As a Shropshire exile I'd be hoping to see rushall and Warrington come up but I'm pretty sure I'm in a minority there. Regardless, given the number of southern teams coming into this level you'd assume all four teams wil be landing in the NLN, plus kings...

Re: Gateshead v Darlington

Sounds to me like we're running on fumes a bit at the minute. Wheater and Ellis with knocks, and missing three of our strikers meaning we had nobody to turn to to hold the ball up. The momentum was killed at alfreton and now the team are probably feeling the effects of a long season. Plenty of what ...

Lawlor was very good too yesterday. While Ellis was the one who looked like he'd clatter his gran to keep the ball out of the box, lawlor was very tidy indeed. He'd be a big signing for next season.

Agree about Ellis, absolutely monster performance. We deserved the win overall, they really only had one decent effort, which would have been an absolute wondergoal but hit the bar.

I really do think it was a penalty, looking at the footage.

Also, I like Armstrong very much, but I wish he'd wind it in a bit about referees.

I get the sense that AA is building for next season now, so, without having any insider knowledge, I reckon we'll be looking at maybe 3-4 signings in the summer, and few departures. Armstrong said a while ago that he only really likes loans as a way of getting a feel for players he wants to sign, a...
