Best Darlo goals you’ve seen live
1. Gabbiadini (home to Exeter 1998-99 season. Completed his hat trick by beating three men and then lashing one into the top corner from 30 yards) 2. Gabbiadini (home to Leyton Orient 1999-00 season. Hit one on the outside of his boot and chipped the keeper on an angle) 3. Martin Smith (away to ….??...

Re: Kurt Willoughby and Clayton Donaldson
Heaney has signed for South Shields
Michael Woods also released by York. If fit he is a great player in centre mid, a bit of a Gary Bannister type player

Re: The ‘what if’ season
You can ask “what if” questions about any season. *What if this player hadn’t been injured or suspended? *What if the season hadn’t been ended early in 19/20? Would we have made the top seven? *What if we had the correct number of seats in 2017 to get into the play-offs? *What if Martin Gray hadn’t...

Imagine if this happened now
The way the away fans at Feethams caused the advertising hoardings to collapse would provoke a huge investigation nowadays

Re: Peter Kirkham talk
I started supporting Darlo in about August 95 - when Hodgy & Platt took over. I think Kirkham was part of that squad but never featured - what happened there?

Re: The Hodgy team of 99/00 - if they had been promoted
It’s always extraordinary to think that team didn’t get promotion. Even with the poor run-in, if we’d only drawn with Northampton at home in April rather than lose (1-0 courtesy of a former Hanger, IIRC) we’d have been promoted. It would have all collapsed the following season, mind. I remember goi...

The Hodgy team of 99/00 - if they had been promoted
I’ve often wondered ‘what might have been’ if we had beaten Peterborough that night at Wembley - would that team have gone on to have a good season in Division 2, or would Reynolds still have forced most of them to leave. One thing I have noticed, looking at the careers of most of that team is that ...

Re: 25 years next week since Wembley 1996
Platt was a good guy for sure but didn’t seem to be able to carry on the optimism into 96-97. No idea why he sold Robbie Painter to Rochdale

25 years next week since Wembley 1996
Struck me that next week (25 May) it’s 25 years since Darlo’s first trip to Wembley. The summer of Euro 96 and Oasis at Knebworth, a year before Princess Diana died, to me that year felt like the last year before life started to get a bit less care free. Perhaps because I was 16 at the time and it w...

Stick yer ESL up yer ass
The only positive from this shoite idea might be increases in attendances lower down the pyramid. I really hope players and managers at the ‘big six’ clubs step down and go to other clubs. ESL. Stick it up your ass. Load of absolute bobbins

Re: Favourite ever Darlo video clip/highlight & why
Got to be Robbie Painter's goal at Leeds in front of the packed away end. For Feethams noise, Steve Gaughan scoring the only goal of the game vs Hartlepool in 95/6, remember Radio Cleveland replaying the commentary and the roar actually sounded like a proper football match! And it was scored at the...

Favourite ever Darlo video clip/highlight & why
Mine would be a David Geddis 89th minute header in the Welling home match in 1990. Not ‘the’ Welling match obviously but the crowd reaction when he scores is possibly the best Feethams roar ever captured on camera. We’d dominated the game but missed countless chances and I think at the time Barnet w...

Footballs Darkest Secret
Been watching this programme (last part on bbc tonight), and I just can’t believe all this stuff that is coming to light. It’s so grim it’s unbelievable and given how widespread it seems to have been you just wonder how many manager’s of clubs knew about it but turned a blind eye

Re: George Reynolds
With hindsight I think we would have survived without George coming into the club in 1999 as Hodgy could probably have sold off players like Gabbas, Liddle, Preece and brought in circa £700-800k in transfer fees to keep the wolves at bay I would tend to disagree with this, player sales would not ha...

Re: George Reynolds
If only we had won against Plymouth on that rainy Friday night at Wembley things could have been very different. To be fair you can trace our current situation all the way back to the early 90’s but Reynolds’ building of the arena and move away from Feethams certainly sped up our demise as a league...

I remember at the time wondering whether that transfer was Kenny Dalglish just helping out Hodgy as we were in fairly dire financial straits under Peden (not that we knew that at the time of the transfer)

Re: Stevie Mardenborough scores winner at Anfield
All I remember about Mardenborough is that he would run with the ball like the wind but was unable to put in a cross to save his life. Was better for us in the later years of his tenure when I think he was played more as a striker

Photos of Feethams 2004-5
Fell down a Youtube worm hole earlier today looking at a feature on disused football grounds. I seem to remember that someone on here went around Feethams in 2004/5 time when all the stands were still up and took a load of photos inside the stands/changing rooms etc??? Anyone still got a link to them

Re: Coronavirus.
I read an article over the weekend that talks about the ‘Hong Kong flu’ epidemic that hit the UK in 1968 - 80,000 deaths, yes 80,000!!! Yet it is barely a footnote in history. On that occasion the Government went with a herd immunity approach. No lockdown etc...

Seeing as it’s coming up to 20 years since Wembley 2000
And to ease the boredom of lockdown, I was trying to think of some kind of challenge. I recently found a letter that I sent to Hodgy in early 2001 - he replied btw - in which I asked him a load of questions about his time in charge and in particular his thoughts about the 1999/00 season. I remember ...

Re: Reynolds
Was the club genuinely debt free after Reynolds came in - ie did he buy it from Peden/Brealey and pay off everything that was owed? I find it hard not to get riled by the man, for me from the Summer of 2000 onwards the club was never the same, and it’s sad that despite the positive moves made since ...
