Re: Potential new signings
I recall that Andrew Nelson and Omar Sanyang were to be invited back for pre-season training "to help with their rehab". I wonder if this was just to help them out, or with the hope of adding them to the squad at some point, depending on how they progress. Probably both. Inviting them to pre season...

Am I imagining it but did Gabbiadini score a cracker of a goal at Northampton in the win there in December 99?

Re: Just made Top 30
Another interesting set up is Clapton CFC ( not to be confused with Clapton FC. The Clapton Ultras had long been in dispute with the Clapton owner Vince Bean - rumoured to be a bit of a crook allegedly. In the end, they set up their own club at very bottom of pyramid and eventually bought from the l...

Re: Just made Top 30
If they can't afford promotion to the National League on average gates of 2,680 then they are paying their players too much, me thinks. Or they need to do a Darlo style boost the budget, let the fans be their rich benefactor. I have no idea why they would struggle on their gates, unless they have a...

Dulwich seemingly have problems of their own from evidence they gave to Tracey Crouches review They are so reliant on alcohol sales that they possibly couldn't afford to take promotion to National Leaguep as they would not be able to have fans drinking during game....until or unless law is changed h...

Printing from the northern Echo has gone right down the pan with these so called new reporters, They don't checkout facts before before printing spurious anonymous letters full of holes, It's not for repirters to censor letters, no matter how silly they are. Re: Darlington Reserves - One For the Older Ones
I remember Darlo's Reserves won the Wearside League in 1968/69. I don’t remember whether the Reserves continued in the Wearside League until they joined the Northern League. Thanks for that - from my attempts to look at Wearside League in subsequent seasons, I find no mention of Darlington Reserves...

Darlington Reserves - One For the Older Ones
Looking on the website Football Clubs Historic Database,https://www.fchd.info/DARLING2.HTM, it shows that from 1921/2 season up to 1966/7 season there was a reserve team. Then from 1982-3 to 1985/6 a reserve team played in the Northern League. Between 1967 and 1982, did Darlington have a reserve sid...

Re: New stadium funding
When we moved to the Arena I did wonder if there were any plans to put a train station close by - the Bishop to Saltburn line runs very close to the ground (though even closer to Billy Welch's gypsy site). Assuming a train ride would be less than a fiver, it would have stopped people grumbling abou...

AFC Wimbledon's new stadium doesn't have parking for fans. Neither does Morecambe. they are both relatively new built stadiums. If the ground is in the town centre there's no need for parking. Interesting that none of Blyth’s squad are currently singed up for next season. I’d be interested in Buddle & O’Donnell http://www.blythspartans.com/news-blyth-spartans-confirm-retained-list/ Two thoughts. They either didn't sign contracts with options in them (most contracts are 1 years but with a...

Re: NLN playoffs
Slight deviation from topic, but according to the Hartlepool Mail, Gateshead manager Mike Williamson is attracting interest from Hartlepool and Barrow. I think that would come as quite a blow to Gateshead if he moved on at this critical point. Given how fantastic a job he has done at Gateshead, los...

Re: Kidderminster V Darlington
Don’t think we need to make any improvements in terms of defence. I’d keep everyone we current have including Storey good 4th choice and young. One issue I do have with defence because it’s old we play too deep and with our current midfield crop we pretty much have a midfield full of CDMS. What we ...

a) players may choose to go elsewhere fir more security
b) more likely to be able to get a transfer fee as if on a 1 year deal, clubs will wait to end of season to get player on a free.

I reckon there’s more to this Golden Share thing than meets the eye, to me it’s never been explained properly. For instance, I was told by a solicitor lately that holding the deeds to your house isn’t the big thing it once was. They’re not that important anymore as it’s what’s written on government...

I thought Mr Q had a good game. When he was walking around pre match he looked positive, he seemed to know where others were around him and he didn’t fall over on the bobbly dry pitch. Attacking strength looks at goals for divided by average goals for in the league, similarly defensive strength is goals against divided by average goals against for the league. ...

dont forget a Darlo season ticket next season will consist of 23 games rather than 21 due to league getting extended so that will trigger an increase in ST prices. There was mention in another thread about raising the cost of membership to the DFCSG. This set me thinking more generally about the future for football clubs. 1.
