Re: Potential new signings

I'm pretty happy with our early work in the window, we secured key players like Taylor, Lambert and Lawlor, and added in some quality in Rose and hopefully Hazel based on his previous record. To go for playoffs i think we'd still need to add: - Squad player CB - Ball winning midfielder - Wide player...

Re: Best Darlo goals you’ve seen live

Jason Kennedy - (vs Rochdale) league 2 play-off semi final 1st leg.

Pawel Abbott - (vs Grimsby at home at the arena?) Lobbed the keeper from the edge of the 18 yard box when he was about a yard off his line.

Re: Retained list

Tyrone O’Neill becomes a free agent after his contract at Scunthorpe is terminated by mutual consent. I'd imagine Alun will be interested considering he's signed him three times already and If we could get the player back from his initial spell he would certainly improve us but it's been a while sin...

Re: Joe Wheatley

Great signing for them - I don't know why it went wrong with us but good luck to him. Agree if they get him fit and focused could be a really good signing for them. I think the main problem for him last season was fitness. Covid pre-season knocked him sideways and then after that he never really lo...

Re: Nathan Lowe

I only saw him play once for us in person at the last game at Kidderminster so can't rwall7 comment on his overall ability. Looked from some of the earlier game highlights that he had a bit about him and clearly Kiddy have thought the same. I do wonder though, had we signed him, would our Midfield o...

Retained list

Full retained list released. https://darlingtonfc.co.uk/news/quakers-announce-retained-list Good to see the option exercised on Lambert. But I didn't realise Mondal already had a contract for next year. It's largely the released list I expected to see: Brandon Taylor George Smith Joe Wheatley Lexus ...

Re: Goal of the season.

Kev’s second or the Gateshead wonder free kick for me. But I reckon there is one choice missing, Charman’s last goal at Blackwell Meadows, a nifty turn and perfect placement of a shot to the top far corner - up at the grassy bank end, can’t remember the opponents right now :eh: (Up and running on t...

Re: Wheater

I'm afraid to say I don’t think he is the answer to our centre half problems. He looked way off the pace yesterday. He looked shot after about 10 minutes in. Armstrong needs to look again. Looks like he played with a groin injury the entire match to me but players through it to help his team mates....

Go on MCFC - who do you think those ones are. Haha, Im not risking that, dont want to upset if they look on here. I will say I thought Lambert may be one of them as he didnt look right but think he was carrying an injury, he was struggling a few times second half. I would like him to stay if ...

Re: Kidderminster V Darlington

Poor from start to finish today. Kidderminster are a good side and bearly got out of second gear, but we didn't really test or put any pressure on them largely because Wheater, Lawlor and Lambert looked barely fit, and credit to Wheater for seeing out the game looked to be struggling fro. early in t...

Re: Farsley match thread

Lowe could be that man :?: I've not seen Lowe play for us yet what sort of player would you say he is? Plenty of Sheilds fans said he likes a shot from outside the box which we've probably been guilty of not doing enough historically. Agree with some of the comments above, looking at Purver, Rose, ...

Re: Farsley match thread

A disappointing if not entirely unexpected sounding game yesterday. Obviously with BTB launched it would have been good to get a win infront of a solid home crowd for what was a end of season dead rubber of a game. It sounded like it's gone the way our season has since the Alfreton game, a little la...

Re: BPA v Darlington

Just watched the highlights. TBF I've seen worse 0-0's. Both teams seemed to give it a go without much fear of having much to lose, both just lacked a bit a quality in front of goal to get the result. We had a couple of chances and their keeper made a very good save to keep out Dos Santos in the 2nd...

And who can forget "one of the most technically gifted players I have ever worked with" Alex 'Electric Pace' Henshall. I think Tommy said the same about Glover having a huge future in the game. O'Neill What really concerns me is that Armstrong didn't fancy him in any of the last 4 games and there must be a reason for that. Probably due to him being injured  Hadn't realised he was injured. Was nothing in any of the club match previews for Curzon, Gateshead or Brackley to say he was ...

Re: Signings

There's something very frustrating about both O'Neill and Cassidy. Cassidy - undeniably works hard for the team and has certainly created a few chances and goals for team mates this year. The work ethic makes me want to like him but for me his goal involvements (goals + assists) just aren't good eno...

Slightly disappointed not to win yesterday after Cassidy sounded like he had a good chance from open play and then missing 2 penalties. But going to remain philosophical about it. I thought before yesterday we'd need 65 points for a playoff spot, and I still do, so the task now becomes 14 points fro...

In terms of my own analysis it works by giving teams attacking and defensive scores based on their home and away results. Attacking strength looks at goals for divided by average goals for in the league, similarly defensive strength is goals against divided by average goals against for the league. P...

Predicted table below (disclaimer, I don't think it will end up like this, the way the model works is to extrapolate past results over the remaining games of the season so teams who made a good start like Curzon, Chorley, Kettering are probably enjoying a bit of a boost compared to where their form ...

I think I'd say the opposite tbh, from the camera angle behind the goal looked to me like contact was on the line, the line belongs to the box so penalty for me.

Re: Darlington v Southport

For me there's no question Cassidy works hard. Every time I've seen him this season he's put himself around to cause a nuisance for defenders etc. My main criticism has been his goal return, last nights goal took him to 5 in the league for the season (his first since November) and he's probably play...
