Re: Southport V Darlington

Be interesting to see what we do tomorrow night with a few who could do with a bit of game time and Cassidy out injured. FA trophy is definitely worth our focus this season. With mediocre league form and exiting the FA cup early we could do with something to build a bit of excitement in the fanbase...

Re: Durham County Cup

Been kicked out for the Durham Challenge Cup for fielding an illegible player. To do with the registration of one of the academy players by the looks of it. Frustrating but since Beeden and Hope are now both out on loan the only beneficiary of these games was young Martin in goal, who it would have...

Re: Boston V Darlington

Watching the highlights. The goals are horrible. Awful defending, people out of position, no pressure on the ball cause they're trying to get back into shape and no one seems to know who is supposed to be pressuring the ball. Red card, for me the ref got it right. Lunging in from a high position is ...

Re: Boston V Darlington

Personally apart from 1st 15 mins i thought we sounded the better team.. Same old things though waiting to go behind before we turn up Sent from my EML-L09 using Tapatalk Why did we start so slowly? Is it the player’s fault or is it a management issue? Formation issue for me, sounded like we just d...

Re: Boston V Darlington

Wasn't particularly happy with 3 at the back. Very tough formation to get right without a lot of coaching. We have a couple of evenings a week. This one is on Armstrong tonight unfortunately. Let's not blow a positive goal difference on one awful showing.

Re: Boston V Darlington

Team is out.

Taylor, Griffiths, Lawlor, Cooper, Ellis, Hedley, Purver, Rose, Lambert, Cassidy, Charman.

Subs: Storey, Mondal, Rivers, Hatfield, Dos Santos

Looks like 5-3-2 / 3-5-2 with Lambert the more advanced of the midfielders in behind Cassidy and Charman.

Re: Boston V Darlington

Tough midweek trip away to Boston. But so was Brackley and we've proven we can go away midweek to tough places and play well (we'll ignore Southport as the opposite). Tough decision around team selection. Charman likely to be available again and I'd be tempted to bring him back in. He was bang in fo...

Re: Darlo v Gloucester

Can only go by the highlights but my take would be. Nugent is a lucky boy for the elbow. Clearly thought he got something in the face from Cassidy in an earlier move so decided this was his chance for pay back. Throwing your arm and forearm in an opponents direction like that is clearly dangerous. W...

Darlo v Gloucester

Gloucester making the long trip up north for tomorrow's game. Sacked their manager after a poor start to the season and last weekend was their first win since the Second weekend of the season when they beat York. Second most goals conceded in the league so let's hope our goal scoring exploits can co...

Re: Next seasons kit

Credit to Joma think there's some decent kits in there also nice touch with the DFC on the back of the neck.

Tough choice but think Home 2 and Away 3 for me. (Love the red away kit but think red is one of the most popular home kit colours in the league so get to wear it less).

Re: Chester Away

Sounds like it will largely be the team from the Kettering game with Wheatley swapped in for Purver. Happy with that as after the first 30 minutes we were good in and out of possession. -------------------------- Taylor ---------------------- Griffiths --- Cooper --- Storey --- Hedley Rivers --- Whe...

Re: Kettering v Darlo

I guess there won't be a video as it might conflict with their match report. According to that Cassidy should have been sent off, Rivers should have had treatment off the field for the foul that lead to the penalty. And it was a fair tackle and not a penalty. Got to say that I was not at the game s...

Re: Kettering v Darlo

Well that was a bit of a strange game, started 4-4-1-1 with Hatfield in behind Cassidy and Lambert and Rivers wide. First 30 minutes I thought we were dire. Lost every header and 50/50, weak against a big strong team, we were trying to come to feet too often which was leading us into congested areas...

Kettering v Darlo

Tougher test incoming this weekend against a Kettering team who have played limited games compared to to rest of the league, have been low scoring but also very defensively solid. With Paul Cox as the manager we can expect a physical game and it will be a real test as to whether we've learned and im...

Re: Relegation places

Beat me to it Gramps, copying my post from another thread: I see the FA have confirmed they're going ahead with the restructure of divisions to get the 2 step 2 divisions up to 24 clubs apiece and fill in the gaps in the pyramid left by Bury etc al. As such, just 1 team each will be relegated from t...

Re: Darlington V Guiseley

Got the job done yesterday and definitely some pleasing elements to the game. Cassidy getting a goal that his all round play has deserved over the last couple of weeks. Lambert coming in and playing well, Mondal and Cooper getting their first goals. But still the frustration of conceding a goal. We ...

Re: Darlington V Guiseley

Guiseley announce 6 new signings just before the game. 4 out of the 6 academy graduates and only 1 of them above the age of 18. They're without 15 squad members today due to injury. We really really need to be putting them to the sword today.

Only just watched the highlights. Looks like we created chances and had either the Cassidy or Hatfield shots In the second half found the net I think we'd have probably gone on to win. Re: Away to Newton Aycliffe - Tue 19th Oct

Cant comment on performance levels but a win is a win and some good minutes for players who haven't played regularly. Well done to the lads, especially looking at the back line played. Not many first team appearances in there and even less playing time together. Good to see Mondal and Lambert on the...

Chorley v Darlo

A tough trip to Boston has been traded for a tough looking trip to Chorley. Chorley seem a slightly difficult team to read, looking at the table their position looks very promising, in the playoff places despite having played one less game than those around them. With 17 goals scored in just 7 games...

Re: Darlington v Hereford Saturday 9th October 2021

Watching the highlights there seems like there was plenty to be pleased about. Taylor had to make some decent saves but most were from 15-18 yards which gives the keeper more of a chance, the back four looked largely solid and kept the opposition out of our box. Shame to lose Smith to injury as I th...

Re: Danny Rose

Guessing this is to cover Griffiths injury, with Hedley slotting back into RB until he's fit again and can challenge. Although if we're sticking with 4-4-2 after it worked v Telford then surely Hatfield, Wheatley and Purver gives okay cover for 2 positions. With Lambert also a possibility of we chan...

Couldn't have gone much better yesterday. 3 points, clean sheet, into positive goal difference. All in all a very good day. Sounded like Charmans goals were well taken and Dos Santos has set the bar for goal of the season contenders. Plenty of games against teams in and around us in October, arguabl...

Re: Darlington V Telford

Isn't Hatfield our second highest scorer? I'd say that's really an indictment of a lack of goals in general, but I really meant in terms of creativity. Hatfield is good for a goal or two, as we all know. Is 10 goals in 6 league games a lack of goals? Only the top 7 + York and Chester have scored mo...
