Re: BTB - It's back

I’m sure there’s plenty left to donate. I’ll be adding mine in the last week when payday comes around again, I’d have done it sooner but just paid out for a holiday for me and the bairn. I’m more than confident we will hit 100k easily. Absolutely no doubt we'll hit £100k. I'm pretty confident we'll...

Re: Retained list

Mitch Rose also has an ABH conviction from as early as 2021 for assaulting a man & woman (fracturing the woman’s cheekbone). I’m not convinced of the message which that would send if we signed him. Is there a point in someone’s life where they are allowed to do the job they are good at without some...

Assuming that Griffiths, Hope, Rose & Lowe sign: GK Taylor (Martin) LB Need one (Hope) RB Hedley (Griffiths) CB Wheater Lawlor (Need one) (Need one) CM Rose Moke (Lowe) (Purver) Wide Midfielders Lambert KDS (Rivers) Need one Strikers Hazel (Mondal) Need one Need one I'd guess it'd be something clos...

Re: Retained list

D_F_C, do you think that the budget would support 22 players to start the season? I think it would be closer to 18 players. Agree with this. Mondal provides cover for the wide positions and striker, Hedley covers both full-back slots and Purver can also drop back. We could do with adding a Rob Purd...

Re: George smith departs

If Hedley and/or Griffiths fall victim to injury that will keep them out of more than a couple of games then I suppose we dip in to the loan market. If Smith is injured half the season and on the bench the other half there's no point paying his wage. As alluded to above, Armstrong is under a fair am...

Re: Retained list

As already said a multitude of times, Cassidy probably the biggest surprise. I'd have liked to have seen Ellis stay but if he's moving into management so be it. Perhaps securing Hazell so early has allowed Armstrong to keep his options open a little more than he might've, and so he's taking a gamble...

I did say when we first brought him in to train that it was a risk and that he could be another Nicky Hunt. I still think there's a chance he won't regain the level of fitness required, but completely agree he deserves a pre-season before he's judged. He clearly still has the quality and mentality t...

Re: Jacob Hazel

No issue with a 2-year deal for me. As said above, he's unlikely to be someone we're hoping to develop and sell on. He's likely to be at his peak over the next couple of years but if he does have a phenomenal season and attract interest from bigger clubs then a 2 year deal gives us an element of pro...

Re: Jacob Hazel

A very promising signing. I'll admit I doubted we were likely to be in for him given his profile but it looks like he'll be a good signing and perhaps shows there's some intent to build a core of players who might not just move on after a season or two to bigger and better things - we'll only progre...

Has to be Tommy Taylor for me. Without him in goal, we'd be a lot further down the table. He's good Pete but I personally don't rate him as highly as some on this forum. I reckon there's room for improvement in a number of areas of his game, and I'm looking forward to watching him stay with us and ...

Looking at the second half of the season in isolation, where someone above has split it into three distinct runs of form, lets not forget there was also a lot of upheaval in those few short months. We lost our best forward. We lost our captain/arguable best player from the last few seasons. We broug...

Some good news in the Echo regarding Danny Rose with Armstrong saying: “We’re just about there” in terms of a deal. Got to get a striker in, Jacob Hazel would be the one I’d be going for all round striker pace power strength and knows where the goal is. Other than Glover and Vaulks, I have zero recollection of any of those names. Maybe Lingthep. Did they really make our matchday squads?

I do vaguely remember Wright having some weird policy of always having a kid on the bench just so they could experience the match day - is that correct?

Two FA Cup runs and a decent enough run in the Trophy, a number of player sales - all in all raising probably £300k whilst steering us through the coivd times. Basically I can argue negatives and positives of the last three years but wanted to balance the post further up, do I think we are in a muc...

Re: Lawlor signs 2 year deal

Hopefully with a proper pre-season Wheater can sort out whatever niggles he still has. My concern would be that if he continues to miss every other game (or whatever the current rate is), we won't develop any consistency at the back and that will hinder us no matter how the rest of the squad shapes ...

"BTB hasn't exactly set the world alight" You think we'd be challenging for the playoffs without it? Maybe we would, but the less we, as fans, are willing to contribute to the playing budget, the less chance of a competitive squad and the less right we have to whinge if we're struggling for results....

Re: The ‘what if’ season

It's all ifs and buts. If the Reynolds money had been spent on the playing side, but that included training facilities, infrastructure to provide a steady flow of young talent etc, then that would have helped sustain the club at a higher level than maybe attendances alone could manage. But it didn't...

I wondered why Thompson missed the Alfreton match. Loanee or no, I would have had him taking the penalties & hope he would be interested in a contract with us next season. Very quick & lively, capable of opening up most defences. Meanwhile AA must get the lads practising pens, I mean the could come...
