Re: Rugby League

Poor performance by Wigan yesterday afternoon, far too many mistakes & yet we could have leveled the score near the end of the game.

Re: The Boxing Thread

No idea to be honest. i was surprised that the fight wasn't on sky or BT. I've done the first thing in my life & recorded the fight on BBC5 Live. I'm actually listening to it now & it's in the second round, quite exciting. Amazing crowd of 75000 in the AT&T stadium in Dallas.

Re: Hartlepool By Election

At the moment, there is no prospect of Labour forming any future government. They are too divided & can't come up with any policies.

Wow the Conservatives win with a majority of 6940. Wonder if Starmer will be under pressure to resign.

Re: Wheatley stays, Hunt and Saltmer released

Not surprised by Hunt's release, as he didn't dominate our defense like I'd hoped he would. Saltmer never generated much confidence & I'm sure there are better options out there. Never saw Hunt or Saltmer play, apart from on TV at Bristol Rovers. Did you not watch Quaker TV Pete? Yes sorry I did wa...

Re: 6 players leave

The problem for Alun is that he needs to make signings now, but it's very hard for him to know what his budget will be, when btb runs to the end of May. Perhaps the club should look to run btb in future years through April?

Re: Rugby League

Good to see that Wigan's Tony Clubb, has been banned for racist language in the game against Hull. Although surely a longer ban would have sent a stronger message, that this idiotic behavior can not be tolerated.

Re: Hartlepool By Election

If you believe the bookies odds, the Conservatives are nailed on to win Hartlepool. The best odds for a Conservative win are 1/6 & the best for a Labour win are 7/2.

Re: Boost the budget 2021

Surely given the dire state of many clubs football finances, any BTB funds should go further than before? We can hopefully bring in some really good players for the upcoming season.

Re: Rugby League

You seem to have lost the nucleus of a pretty decent side & now your having to bring in fringe players who aren't up to it. Fortunately for Leeds, there are worse sides in the SL.

Great to see Troy Wilkinson from Darlo winning at the weekend, with some terrific punishes to maintain his unbeaten record.

Re: What do you like on TV at the moment?

Absolutely brilliant news, as the BBC are showing The Killing again on BBC4 tomorrow night, the first 3 episodes are showing of the 220 part series. For me The Killing is the best TV programme I have ever seen, even better than the fantastic Bridge. Watch it & you will be amazed.

What is a realistic figure for btb this time round? I reckon £150k is achievable.

Well you're one sixth of the way there. Tough game for Wigan tonight & a real arm fight. Jackson Hastings was MOTM yet again & i think Hardaker won the battle of the full-backs.

Hopefully sometime in the future, there may be relegation to the Northern League. But whilst there is a shortage of clubs in the leagues above & the prospect of some clubs not surviving the pandemic, this isn't likely to happen anytime soon.

Re: Rugby League

Yes I don't think Radford will move Castleford forward, it's probably at best a static appointment & at worst Castleford could drop away from being a top 6 side. I certainly don't think Castleford fans will view Radford as an upgrade on Powell.

Re: Potential new local derbies

I'd imagine Stockton & Hebburn would be keen on getting promotion, as they both seem to be ambitious with a bit of money behind them. Not so sure about Shildon, as there ground would no doubt need a fair bit of money spending on it & I'm not sure they are in a position to make such an investment.

Boost the budget 2021

Well I've received an e-mail from the club, like I'm sure a lot of you have had. The e-mail is copied below for those that haven't received it. Last May, yourself and 707 other Boost The Budget investors raised a staggering £131,385 – £31,385 over target – allowing Alun to attract the likes of Erico...

Re: Rugby League

Well congratulations to Hull KR on beating Leeds, my predictions of Hull KR fighting against relegation look to be a bit wide of the mark. Wigan for once, were not on the TV, so listened to the commentary on BBC Manchester, but a solid performance to overcome previously unbeaten Castleford.

Yes sorry I came on here before checking on the RL sites. It's a crying shame that he is lost to RL in England, but you can understand him wanting to return to his native country. At least we can appreciate his skills for this season.

Nothing is official, I'm sure Wigan will do there best to hold on to him, as you say he is a great player. There is the prospect that due to his residency in England, he could be picked in England's World Cup team, which may persuade him to remain playing in this country. Let's hope so.

Lucky lucky Hull KR, as they get away with a blatant penalty which should have been awarded in the last 2 minutes, right in front of the posts.
