Re: Darlington V Gloucester

I’m still not sure AA knows how to play this excellent squad, I don’t want to sound negative but first half a bit of hoof ball seemed to be our plan. Second half different story, we were on the front foot , yeah there number 4 got sent off, after that, boom, we were on it. Have to agree, the format...

Re: Kaine Felix

Not overly convinced about having Wheater, Lawlor and Emery as the three CBs for the season. Wheater won’t play 50+ games and it appears to be a big step up for Emery. Sukar can also cover but was a full back at Step 3 last season. Hopefully I get proved wrong but that’s potentially looking a bit t...

Re: Whitby 30th July 2022

Looking forward to a day out at the seaside with a couple of friends. Hopefully an enjoyable game, fish and chips and a few beers( not driving). Expecting to see a strong team starting, given this is the last preseason game, and hopefully a few of the wrinkles at Guiesley will have been ironed out....

Re: Guiseley V Darlo

Most are right that pre season results are immaterial including this one. My only concern are reports from the game like we were “ bullied” , “they were much fitter” “they got stuck in more than us” etc etc. Our biggest problem last season even with a settled team was that we simply did not perform ...

Re: Darlington V Middelsbrough

Thought the boro no 6 controlled the game and would like to see him on loan, no idea of his name but made it look so easy. Thought with Hazel and Lambert in second half we looked much more threatening and thought rivers had a decent game. All 3 to start for me. Maddison is clearly a gamble and canno...

Re: Darlo v Rochdale

Yeh agree, just listened to it and he didn’t seem overly enthusiastic to be honest. Would have thought with money from player sales alongside BTB and normal budget that he would have been given a decent budget to work with. Mind you the likes of Wheater, Rose, Maddison, Beck, Lawlor, Hazel must all ...

Re: mark beck

Fair play to AA with the recent signings.
Was getting concerned that he had missed the boat again but am pleased to be wrong.
2 more and think we have a really good squad. Centre half is a must and a ball wining defensive midfielder.
Well done AA so far this summer.

Happy to admit for Gramps sake that I am now pleased we didn’t sign a couple of the attacking midfielders I thought we may have missed out on😁.
Get this guy back to fitness and could be one of the best in league.

Re: Potential new signings

So pre season is often about speculation, conjecture, ifs and buts as to we may or may not be signing. Very little is based on fact because rightly so us fans have no idea really. In my opinion, and that’s all it is, I personally would be amazed if AA had not tried for a number of those players ment...

Re: Potential new signings

Come on Gramps your better than this! Talk about twisting words…… “ another one which would be surprised at if he was not after” becomes me supposedly having some insider knowledge of the clubs definite transfer bids and misleading people. Maybe my grammar wasn’t the best, give you that, but don’t p...

Re: Potential new signings

Would be amazed if we hadn’t tried for Lowe, Woods, Allen, Cooper, O’Donnell, Felix, Wearne etc. All good players who would have added value in positions that most of us have said we need strengthening. Totally accept that some will have gone to full time clubs which we cannot compete with and of co...

Re: Potential new signings

Ok, understand still plenty of time and have a nucleus of a side which differs from last year. Get it. Cannot deny though that we were all saying similar things last summer and it ended up pear shaped. Agree we have to aim high to quote AA but that only works if we actually get some of those players...

Re: Potential new signings

My view is that we are miles ahead of this time last year (which we know AA messed up) ) but still short of maybe 3/4 quality players good enough to get into team. Time will tell and can only judge I agree as season gets nearer whether AA has done a good job with recruitment. No excuses for him thou...

Re: Retained list

I’d only sign O’Neill on a trial basis or short term contract as his last loan wouldn’t suggest that he is currently worth some of of our permanent budget. Prove himself, show he his fit and interested, score some goals and then talk about a contract. Becks an interesting one as realistically cannot...

Disappointed as thought he was exactly what we are missing in midfield, big, strong and gets forward and shoots . Really like all 3 of Rose, Moke , purver but very similar and can barely remember any shots on goal collectively. Also think we need a physical, strong, big lad in there too as the 3 abo...

Weird post, but I have no idea at all in reality whether this current core of players ( with a few additions) is good enough for a play off challenge next season or quite the opposite, they really are just not good enough at all!!! Forget the first half of season but basically this squad has deliver...

Re: Darlington V Brackley

Think today kind of summed up where we are. We can compete against any team in the league and even have spells where we are the better team but we can only do it in for part of a game. Yes they were very organised and that is definitely a feature of the top teams which we are a long way from, yet un...

Re: Gateshead v Darlington

Love the type of midfielder that AA has brought to the club but most successful teams also have a “nasty bugger” who can break play up, sit in front of the back 4. Would like to see this type of signing in the summer, alongside a re vamp of the forwards. Just dont think a combination of the likes of...

Full credit for keeping our season alive over the last 10 games or so, but wasn’t expecting that today. Or was I ? Big crowd, some expectancy and opposition who simply battled, closed us down and stopped us playing our touchy feely football. Whenever these happen we rarely perform and so it was toda...

If someone had said, 2 months ago that we would be in a play off position with just a few games to go I would have laughed, probably did! I was one who thought AA could not turn it around so credit to him for sure. It’s often been Wheater and Ellis who get the credit but there is no way without Lawl...

Excellent team performance again today. Think Thompson has made the difference in last run of games and would love to think we have a chance of keeping him, but probably not realistically. Cannot blame him at all, why wouldn’t he, and to get money when he could have gone in summer anyway, had to be done, no issue. Re: Building for Season 2022/23

The strikers are the key signings this summer for sure and could make the difference to next season. The nucleus of defence and midfield is there even if we don’t get lawlor and Rose back. Having said that there is often a few surprise departures so let’s wait and see. Still think a hard tackling ho...

Great signing purely based on whenever I have seen him play in the past. Reckon it must mean at least one of existing 4 will be leaving. Moke, Hatfield, Rose would be fairly acceptable next year! Fingers crossed. Reckon Wheatley most likely to leave, but who knows.

It’s pretty obvious that the pitch is shocking and does not suit at all the way AA wants to play so no wonder he moans about it. It looked to me like it had been cut again on Sat, why! It cannot be fixed until summer and even then can only be minimal without a big spend so just leave some grass grow...

A draw away from home after twice being behind is ok. Can’t really work up a lot of enthusiasm to be honest. Feels like end of season apathy creeping in for me, with still a third of the games to go. Think Old Git is just being realistic to be fair. I know a number of hard core long-standing fans w...
