Re: Leamington v Darlo
Why are the full backs not on the posts when defending set pieces .They would/should have cleared both of them yesterday,or is that too old fashioned I wouldn't say its common to have full backs on the posts for deep freekicks. Takes offside out of the equation and let's them disrupt the goalkeeper...

Re: Leamington v Darlo
Nothing particularly good to write about that. Baring a really excellent finish from Hazel an afternoon to well and truly forget. First half was really awful. Neither team had any quality. Ball spent most of its time in the air. We were happy to kick long down the throats of their CBs which Hazel wa...

Re: New faces
Guessing it was James Spencer at Farsley who’s just joined Curzon.. Yeh pretty sure AA has voiced his admiration of him in the past and was obviously available, so very likely it was him. Would be interesting to know why he chose Curzon over us. Cannot believe they offered huge money more than us a...

Re: Darlington V Telford
Just watched highlights. Thought defence was very poor at the time yesterday but some of the defending and marking was worse than poor. Not a defender anywhere in sight for both disallowed goals, and think we may have got away with the first offside. The second one, from a fee kick, their forward g...

Re: New faces
Anyway back to the original thread. AA mentioned having bids in for a couple of new players and hopefully some fresh faces in for Tuesday. Love a bit of transfer speculation, so does anyone have any thoughts on possible new signings. Both sensible and fanciful suggestions welcome. Couple names to t...

Re: Lambert attracting attention
Only slight issue is Lambert is out of contract in the summer.. do we cash in or do we keep him with the hope of promotion and let him go for free in the summer? Way I see it. Lambert gives us a much better opportunity of making it to the play offs. Finish 5th or above and you get at least one home...

Re: Scarborough Away - Mon 2nd Jan (SOLD OUT)
Watched the goals highlights. There won't be many teams in this league who can live with our front 4 when they're on form like that. Lovely range of goals too. Beck beating his man at the back post for the 1st. Hazel running in behind the CB for the 2nd. Two close range finishes (being where you wan...

Totally get that we have to be financially secure, but also good management also look at the big picture . Top of league and an opportunity become available to strengthen with a proven player who wants to come and everyone agrees would be an asset. Doesn’t happy very often. Don’t buy the “ he wante...

Re: Darlington V Alfreton
Brilliant win for the lads last night. Shouldn't be forgotten that basically the same 11 have done away trips to Telford and Kidderminster in the last week, whilst Alfreton had Saturday off. I'm not surprised we faded second half a little, but as others have made the point, enough characters and qua...

Buxton v Darlo
Chance to bounce back tonight from a fairly poor day away at Kings Lynn. Buxton have had a bit of a mixed start 12 points from 12 games, 9 scores, 15 conceded. Hopefully we can come out of the blocks quickly. For me, I still think we look better 4-3-3, I'd be tempted to bring in Leesley for a natura...

Looks like I may need to correct myself. I was relying on last season’s info and should have rechecked. Looks like you buy a standing ticket at the turnstiles; the club’s website doesn’t seem to let you buy them online For seats, the club requests you buy in advance. Sorry for any confusion. I am n...

There is one thing glaring in its omission in the following statement: "Blackwell Meadows currently meets the criteria National Ground Grading Category B, enabling the club to play in the National League North (Step 2). On reaching the Football League (League Two), the capacity must be increased to...

Who actually owns the land at BM? I was told it’s DBC, RC lease ends at the same time of our licence to play at BM. If we move I can’t see RC surviving long term. Checking on free information at Land Registry, some of land there is Freehold & some is Leasehold Can you expand on that please? Is the ...

Frustrating to have the injuries, but based on performances (albeit Dodds has only had one game at Hyde) I don't think it would really effect team selection based on form. As other have noted, not sure whether Moke has recovered from the Illness he posted about earlier in the week. If not, or not fu...

I certainly would risk either of they're still feeling them. I'd be tempted to go for: ------------------------- Taylor ------------------------ Griffiths -...

Decent move for the lad. Only the division below and playing under a manager that we know was a decent CB in his time.
Wonder of we'll look to do something similar with Alfie Hughes? Give him a chance to get some game time and keep developing.

Darlo v Peterborough Sports
Just looked in on our weekends opponents and how they're getting on against Redditch in their FA cup replay. Currently leading 1-0, but Jordan Nicholson (yes the one that played for us under Tommy Wright) who is the leagues joint top scorer with Mark Beck has gone off injured and they've had a man s...

Am I the only one who thinks Hyde away is a decent draw, that 9 times out of 10 we should win. It could have been a lot worse. I'm sure there is an old cliche along the lines of 'It's only a good draw if you win'. But agreed it could have been much worse we've avoided the better funded sides like F...

Re: Darlington V Southport FA Cup
Watched the highlights. Certainly not a classic from a darlo point of view. Both goals conceded weren't great. Failure to get first contact at the corner for the first. Have seen a few blaming Taylor for this, but looks too congested for him to come out for me. The second Griffiths gets caught squar...

Good to get the win. It wouldn't be Darlo if we didn't make hard work of it. Penalty was a pen by the letter of the law so we can't have any complaints. Thought the red was about right too, the second foot getting involved made it dangerous in my opinion and thus he had to go. After that looks like ...

Plenty of tasty opposition, I'd love it if we played Macclesfield or Bury. Obviously, I'd prefer it if we didn't play a fellow National League North side. Couldn't think of a worse team to play than Macclesfield. Their budget will be bigger than ours. Lowest placed opposition possible until the fir...

I feel like September will really give us an idea of what to expect this season. I'm still very optimistic. Boston (H) Telford (A) Bradford PA (A) Peterborough S (H) Blyth (H) Very interesting. I still believe we can make the playoffs this year. Completely agree. All those sides are below us in the...

Not a classic by any means. But think as other posters have said that would have been 0-0 last season. I don't think we ever really hit top gear although we didn't need to against a very limited Farsley side. Felix was unlucky not to have a great volleyed goal in the first half and the keeper reacte...

Re: Chorley V Darlington
If Alun is going to persist with the 4-3-1-2 formation then he needs to look at whether Lambert on the left and Mondal behind the front 2 is actually working. I don't think it worked against Chorley as both had poor games, particularly Mondal. Just shows what a game of opinions it is as Lambert get...

First mid-week of the season. Will be interesting to see how much the squad is rotated with the visit of fast starting Banbury to come on Saturday. There certainly some options to change things from an attacking sense with the likes of Rivers, Felix and Maddison available and fresh. Less so from a M...
