Re: Spennymoor

Now nine points from safety, and just in an absolutely desperate situation. Gowling really needs to get this team playing now, yes he's inherited a shitshow but we're still just losing week after week after week.

Re: Spennymoor

I mean, possibly. I want him to succeed but we're just not improving. We've hardly had a shot since he joined.

Re: Spennymoor

I imagine it will be the same shape as we ended on Tuesday but with ngandu and salkeld running off hazel, and platt and Hatfield in midfield? I'm not there so can't confirm but that's how I read it.

Also, no we haven't had a new manager bounce but we have had gradual improvement, which if anything is better

Re: Parallels

It's easy to draw parallels with Staunton, but really when it comes down to it while Staunton too inherited an unbalanced squad put together on the fly, he also had the disadvantage of being a useless halfwit who couldn't manage a rice pudding, and I feel that is maybe a more pressing issue. If gowl...

Someone needs to edit the title of this thread - someone might get the wrong idea ie Blyth.

Re: Match off

Some things stand out after today: 1 The gap to safety just got a whole lot bigger as everyone else seems to be able to grab the odd win now and then. 2 Tuesday looks a tough one, given Blyth were a bit unlucky to lose late on to Tamworth, a team who we managed to make look like Premier League. We'...

Banbury match off

Pitch has about a foot of standing water on it from the looks of it.

Both of these defenders, while young, seem to have a wee bit of pedigree. Hopefully they can have an impact.

Can they extend their online sales window then? Nobody is buying a ticket tonight for a game that could be called off

Re: Hannah returns to Boro

I think 3-5-2 is something that needs time. You can't dip in and out of it, particularly at our level, because it needs players to understand their jobs a bit more. I don't buy this idea that we can't play it, we don't live in some unique bubble that prevents us being able to adapt to a system used ...

I must say I haven't seen any actual evidence of TT spitting his dummy online, and after the Tamworth game he was the first person to approach Robson and tell him he'd done nowt wrong. Now I'm not an insider and don't know what happens behind the scenes but I hope he's not being unfairly maligned he...

Re: Banbury Utd - away

Are they worried it's going to sell out or something?

This is a weirdly restrictive policy for a national League north club.

Re: Tamworth V Darlington

All of the blame cannot be put at Armstrongs door as i think a lot of the players have really underperformed as well they should be trying to work there socks off but for reasons only known to themselves seem to just be going through the motions. Possibly because Armstrong left them completely devo...

Re: Tamworth V Darlington

An absolutely massive set of fixtures coming up now. We've played the best teams in the division, now we have the ones around us. Kings Lynn, Blyth, Banbury, Peterborough sports, farsley, and Chester who have underperformed so far are six of the next seven, along with a potentially embarrassing meet...

Re: Tamworth V Darlington

We have to hold our nerve and give Josh some breathing space to turn things around. No need to reach for the panic button just yet. However, if anyone still thinks we are too good to go down they are deluded. He has a big job on his hands and we all need to stick together and get behind him. Absolu...

Re: Tamworth V Darlington

The second half there was absolutely hopeless. The team lack belief that they can do anything about this, and as a result are just hanging about after conceding until the final whistle goes. No spark, no drive, no creativity, sometimes left standing with the ball and nobody doing anything with it, j...

I think our defender headed it against his own player for the first one. Second one we messed about with the ball until we gave it away.

No place for the new boy even on the bench today anyway. Taylor also omitted, unsurprisingly. Looks like salkeld is starting at left wing back, unless we're changing shape to four at the back.

Re: New signing

Not sure what to think about this. He sounds like he fits the profile of what we need, as a player who carries the ball and "loves to create", and just because he's coming from a lower league doesn't mean he won't improve us. I hope his time in Scotland suggests he's open to relocating and we're not...

Re: Darren Holloway

Heard a few players when they went over to see him go “come back Daz” which I thought was strange. Names? Griff, Felix and TT The more I think about this the angrier I get. This is all hearsay at the moment, but I wouldn't blame JG for taking a hard line on this. Holloway is the past, and a pretty ...

Re: Darren Holloway

Personally I'd take the view that "daz" should do the honourable thing and keep away. If he gave a toss about the club he'd back the new management, and I don't think any of the players have played so well as to be indispensable, so if they're desperate to follow him out of the door they should do s...

Yeah, I agree. When you're leaking goals I think it's unlikely a new manager will come in and think the simplest answer is just to try to outscore the opposition

Re: Kaine Felix

TBF it is hardly fair to expect the lad to slot into the team & get onto the scoresheet if he only trains with them once a week. Can see why we wouldn't pick him for the Scarboro game as he would be cup-tied & may cool interest from other sides. No doubt he has potential but needs to be moved on no...

Different categories of offence I think. Dogso for lawlor carries less of a suspension than serious foul play for sukar.

Interesting he referred a couple of times to making the squad a bit younger. Not sure who our younger players are at the moment - obviously harker, then maybe curry, then Nelson, liddle and sukar in their mid 20s?
