Re: Can we actually play a season with a surplus budget..
Chesterfields new stadium holds 10,000 and FCUM is meant to hold 7,000 to 10,000. As I said before we need a land deal...but it was mentioned before things fell apart that there could be £2million in that land for the council if they move on covenants a bit! Whether the council are interested in us ...

Re: Can we actually play a season with a surplus budget..
If that ground cost £1.2million you would expect that the majority of that was spent on the main stand. I know this is a very simplistic view but a copy of the Bishop Auckland ground with replica of the main stand on the opposite side and another tin shed could potentially cost around £2.4million (p...

Is that what it's come to? scouting from Sunday league. erm have you not heard yet that some non-contracted Northern League players do play saturdays and sunday's (for their mates teams)!? There are lads I play with up here that get paid to play for their Juniors teams during the season yet pay £5 ...

Re: Can we actually play a season with a surplus budget..
like we both mentioned hopefully something off the back of the land!? will give us our starting block. It's just a case of walking before running getting a secure ground that can house us up to evostick prem and won't take too much additional development to be suitable for BSN. How many temp seats a...

Re: Can we actually play a season with a surplus budget..
thats my thoughts...no point running before you can walk.
start of with something tidy and appropriate like bishop which I think is realistic and then see what we can do after that, very daunting though I agree.

Re: Rolling Euro 2012 thread
After this tournament I would agree Terry was exceptional. The only other thing maybe instead of Welbeck would be a Sturridge or Adam Johnson...probably better with Sturridge as more of a goal threat.
Michael Johnson went to Leicester I believe.

Re: Rolling Euro 2012 thread
I would prefer to see us maybe blood Rodwell/Jones/Smalling as centrea backs instead of Lescott as they are better on the ball than he is. Hart Richards Rodwell Terry Cole Wilshere Gerrard Cleverley Welbeck Rooney AOC I like Rodwell, so I am a bit biased in putting him there and wouldn't argue again...

Re: Can we actually play a season with a surplus budget..
I thought Bishop cost over £2million. That seems affordable if we can get some sort of cut of the arena land deal. Especially as we will have temporary stands in our ownership to transport back over.

Re: Rolling Euro 2012 thread
good point...Gerrard even admitted pre-tournament that he can't handle box-to-box anymore.
A Wilshere/Cleverley combination sat in front of Gerrard allowing him extra space to pick out the passes could work moving forward.

Re: We are "Darlington 1883"
I don't think it matters too much.
The FA can't touch us on merchandise, correct? We own the IP so can sell all merchandise bearing Darlington FC & our emblem. That is more important after all and I am sure in time they will get bored of the 1883 and it will be ditched.

Re: We are "Darlington 1883"
well interesting...1860 Munich's name isn't shown as the full name on league tables.
don't Bolton Wanderers usually appear as Bolton? Wolverhampton Wanderers appear as Wolves?
Is how a name appears discretionary to that league? Can we convince leagues to just show us as Darlington!?

Re: We are "Darlington 1883"
Thats my understanding, if you don't have FC as a prefix i.e AFC Bournemouth then they just add FC to the end but it's seldom used - for instance the league tables never have FC at the end of club names but we'd still be called "Darlington 1883 Football Club" as that's what we are, a football club....

Re: We are "Darlington 1883"
bit disappointing hopefully we can drop it in due course as other clubs managed to do. Can it be an annual request to the FA to revert back to Darlington FC? Or alternatively have a proper vote over the season as to a new name that people actually want and not have such tight timeframes so that we c...

Re: £112,300
The important thing is the cash flow.
This £200k doesn't all have to be paid out for 2 years isn't it (although getting it off our necks earlier is best obviously!).
I mean by the sounds of it with above budget ticket sales we should have an actual surplus from that as well!?

Re: Rolling Euro 2012 thread
Problem is Balotelli should be taken out, he dithers over one-on-ones so much but he also does have that flash of class and can score goals - Di Natale & Cassano are more CF's than anything. Cassano has been injured all season I thought so I was slightly suprised that he is outright first choice. Ar...

I think said it a bit wrong. The way that Tunnicliffe looked when I saw him play for Man U he looked like Gerrard does now sort of thing. Re: Rolling Euro 2012 thread
Sorry but bigger and stronger is a valid point, you only have to look at the Germans - I don't deny they are technically gifted but they can certainly mix it up as well. They don't pass for the sake of passing like Spain they are a lot more direct in their play which i think the lads coming through ...

Re: Rolling Euro 2012 thread
I don't think our youth is all doom and gloom we do have some talented young players, and players that can play good passing football and can also mix it up and play direct. Hart (can realistically be our goalkeeper for years to come) Richards, Jones, Smalling, Gibbs & Kelly (possibly Flanagan altho...

yep and whenever you see them listed they are down as FC Halifax Town... If they had gone to Halifax Town FC I bet they would just be down as Halifax Town on the fixtures. The other thing for the pedantics out there is that a prefix it doesn't actually really make sense in English like it does elsew...
