Re: D.J. interview online now.
Unlike DJ to get his communication wrong but is a sign of the current kind of negative vibes coming from interviews recently. Ok, deliver the realism but don’t mention “mid table” at every opportunity and how the budget will be less over and over. Not sure what’s wrong or different but a combination...

Re: New players and targets
Goodness, Scunthorpe are setting their stall out.
6 new signings, good experienced pro,s most from higher leagues who I would have in a heartbeat for Darlo!
No idea of their financial status but these guys will have been expensive!

Re: Retained list for 2023/24
Would be a big loss in my view if Purver go,s. For me he was our most consistent player by a country mile and does that defensive midfield role very well. For me it would be keeping him and playing two more creative players around him. As well, he never stops talking and organising which no one else...

Re: Meeting with board
See your at it again Darlo97,you really have a problem with Darlington media team, I really wish you would take it up with the relevant people. It's getting monotonous seeing you bring it to virtually every thread posted, we know you don't like the media output time or how they put information out,...

Re: Meeting with board
Not sure I agree. Surely the discussion took place when he signed a new contract a few weeks ago about finances and the way forward from both sides. etc. This period is surely when players are released, approaches made etc, and a fully committed manager doing his job is what we need. If he is, then ...

Re: Meeting with board
I think it's probably less to do with standards set by other clubs as supporters wanting something to get stuck into after what feels like a horrendous period of drift, particularly when we're trying to drive boost the budget. So I think you're right, but also understand the impatience as it feels ...

Re: Meeting with board
To get back on topic, I reckon some kind of statement is due today. The meeting was on Thursday, meaning that Friday and the long weekend could have been used for thinking, reflection and tweaks before some kind of galvanising statement (hopefully) is drafted. Spot on. There will undoubtedly be som...

Re: Boost the Budget
£75,000 mark now passed. Brilliant effort to pass this landmark on Day8. There is bound to be some slowdown in the process, before hopefully a big spurt in the last few days. Any positive news coming from the club would help, so any information on new signings or contracts being renewed would be we...

Re: Peterborough Sport v Darlo
Said many times that I like the guy and want him desperately to succeed. Slightly better interview but until he stops blaming the lack of investment in January as almost the sole reason and accepts a large part in our demise is down to him then he won’t change. Do his strengths (mainly bringing on a...

Re: Who stays and who goes
His next interview has to be either a statement of intent with enthusiasm or a resignation statement. It’s one or the other and as fans who love this club we need it to be, and quickly, to avoid a period of uncertainty while others do their business. Still not completely certain which is best for th...

Re: Who stays and who goes
Could it be that he has decided he hasn’t got the desire for another rebuild but knows if he walks he gets nothing, I guess. Whereas if he makes enough negative noises on top of recent results he hopes DJ will fire him, in which case he could get a pay out, again I guess. Gut feel is that AA thinks ...

Re: Who stays and who goes
Sick and tired of listening to AA blaming everyone for our decline since January, ie.” Every other club strengthened in January except us, we lost Beck and Dodds.”. One sentence where he included himself in some blame along with the board, the players etc etc. Already saying many players will leave ...

State of the pitch
Football matters aside, think the groundsman deserves a massive amount of credit for the difference he has made to the pitch this season. Even the last match of the season, including a downpour, saw the pitch to be the best it’s ever been in April since we moved to BW in my opinion. Normally it’s ro...

Re: Who stays and who goes
I honestly think next season Taylor [RB] - we saw the impact of Dodds. Can't expect someone of his quality but shows our weakness here without him Lawlor (need to know where his head is given he has a contract - he should be good enough but has struggled lately) Sukar [LB] (Newall seems to be well ...

Re: Who stays and who goes
I have always been a fan of Tommy Taylor, and he has been our best keeper of recent times. However, I don’t think he has been o top form of late. I have no idea what he was doing for the first goal today, when he seemed to have a rush of blood going for a ball that should have been dealt with by hi...

Re: Darlington v Kings Lynn Saturday April 22nd 2023
It's just it then doesn't seem right or fair for the same people who essentially praised DJ after the contract extension to now turn around a few weeks later and say: "He really messed up. Should never have happened." Are people not allowed to change their minds or at least have doubts given the ab...

Agree with you completely but it’s pretty obvious that he is staying unfortunately. Would certainly replace Holloway with a “defence coach” but that probably won’t happen either.

Re: Darlington v Kings Lynn Saturday April 22nd 2023
Completely in the game and then we can’t deal with a long throw and a cross, concede two 6yard box headers and it’s game over, yet again! I accept that AA is staying but he has to be ruthless and a three of Taylor, Lawlor and Sukar as our central defence just cannot start next season. They simply ca...

Re: AA has to go now surely
poor recent recruitment, He has signed the only players available willing to fit within our wage structure. Spencer wanted more than Beck was offered to stay. He's decent but hes not that good and had only scored 5 goals this season. His wages would have been far greater than Hazels who had around ...

Re: AA has to go now surely
I'm willing to look at his record much longer term and it stands up. He's put bad runs behind him before and come back strong and with patience from fans he'll do it again. I've put my case with facts about his managerial career and the rest and hopefully the people who decide these things see beyo...

Re: AA has to go now surely
All I would ask and am disappointed with is that he rarely takes ownership and admits that he is at fault for our current form. Odd snippets but mainly he blames other things like , it’s the players confidence, losing players, refereeing decisions, lack of money. Accept all those have had a bearing ...

Sick and tired of AA not taking responsibility and constantly blaming the “type of club we are” etc etc. No excuse for poor tactics, poor motivation and poor recruitment in second half season. Those things are a big part of his job at the end of the day and is failing with them badly and clearly has...

Re: Darlington v Curzon Ashton Tuesday April 18th2023
No sitting on the fence now. I like the guy but he has to go. Tonight was abysmal from start to finish. Our only tactic being to hoof it even though our target man wasn’t playing. Every other team come with a plan, execute it and beat us. We don’t have a plan A or B. Must win game and he plays 5 at ...

Re: Another poor day…..
Like DJ a lot and without him we are knackered, but my he has messed up with a new contract for AA.
AA looks and talks like he has not got a clue. If you lose the fans and the players then it’s time to give someone else a chance.

Re: Brackley V Darlington
The breakdown in discipline (with both manager and assistant sent out of the dugout) is also something that alarmed me today. I know we seem to have had some poor decisions go against us recently and it sounded like their lad won a soft penalty by doing a Tom Daley but the management can't lose the...

Re: Brackley V Darlington
If we had won 1 out of the first 14 games, in the relegation zone with the players he currently has at his disposal then almost without question he would be getting untold grief even from the more fair minded supporters. Probably would have been replaced, don’t see how anyone can argue. Fact is he i...

Not a chance South Shields will go straight through the NLN. It’s taken them a few seasons to conquer the NPL with being full time and having Geoff Thompson bankrolling them. It remains to be seen how deep his pockets are Not sure I agree with the 'it's taken them a few seasons...' comment. Didn't ...

Agree with most of above, we were absolutely clueless for 80 mins of game, seemingly incapable of doing anything except launch it for our non existent big forward. ( That was before January guys) . Bradford looked Like a top table side in first half, only because we allowed them too. They played fro...

Same again I guess on Monday. Seriously know how knackered you are after that sort of drive so credos to the...
