Re: Hereford away
Having moaned all week I think I might have been wrong - on the evidence of our second game anyway; Salkeld could have had a hat trick, Taylors display was excellent, including some accurate kicks down the left, the penalty was very dubious and their goal was brilliant rather than reflecting poor de...

Re: Hereford away
We did well at Hereford last year so why not this season? There's a lengthy thread waiting on that one and I think we'll get it after Saturday's match. Is that really the extent of our managers faith? It's the daftest thing I've heard from him and makes me think he's lost the drive and imagination a...

Re: Curzon crowd
An on/off switch would have come in handy for me with some of our comedy defending. Looks even worse on the highlights. Don't think Curzon will find many teams as generously obliging. Exactly, OG reckons a cup run plus avoiding relegation could be acceptable but I don't know how you could swing tha...

Re: Players on radar
What game are you talking about? I've been playing exclusively gambling lately, which has slightly lost touch with the outside world and the gaming industry. By the way, not so long ago I found a new online casino, which I hadn't heard about before and info about which can be read at the link, and ...

Re: Abuse at Scarborough
Desperate measures if our defence creaks next season? Incidently, how many vehicles have played for Quakers? We must have had a Ford in our time, wasn't Mick Tait built from an old Tank and somewhere in the old Soviet Bloc there must have been a sporty little car called a 'Bortic' - a nice runner in...

Re: Best Darlo Loan XI - Thread
I think the Olivier Bernard issue shows up the difficulty of grafting top players onto a team who are not on the same wavelength. He struck me as the kind of player you hardly ever see at our level and used to a different standard. The other players don't always pick up on what they're doing. Peter ...

Who are they, associates of the bed wetters, friends of the arselickers? Re: Make or break season for AA
I agree with the two responses to Pete's post and I'm sure there'll be more in a similar vein. The make or break bit feels like a carry over from last season. We should know by now that Armstrong is a more than capable manager who didn't turn bad after Christmas - other factors etc. well known by no...

Re: New players and targets
Thanks for all that Frost stuff, he may have helped us hang on to our league status because we were terrible at times during that campaign. It seems so odd now - I dug out a team picture of the squad in August 1972 and it included Peter Graham, Colin Sinclair, Nattrass and Alan Sproates plus several...

Well, I'm saying better in the context of that team but I remember him on Frosties' film scoring two against Cambridge in a home game we drew 3-3 so he looks okay there.

Is Toby Lees any relation of Norman Lees ? If so he could be a good 'un - Norman was one of the better players in the 'David Frost Team' as I recall.

Re: Pools for sale
I find the Wrexham duos reported interest in Pools a bit unlikely but you never know. A source tells me that Al Pacino has great plans for Neasden FC and someone who looked like Johnny Dep was spotted at Stockton after Rishi Sunak's visit - what a twit, he didn't seem to grasp that Long Eaton beat t...

Re: 20 years ago today
Playing Leyton Orient and two down at half-time then Wainwright came on to score two goals and transform the game. Good memory of a player I liked a lot. Thought Feethams looked a bit tatty that day but still think Reynolds should have spent his money doing the place up.

Re: We Can Still Reach Play-offs Ginge.
It would be wonderful wouldn't it? I think our last realistic chance was the Curzon game though and that was a hard watch - the free header their lad was given for the second goal showed a demoralised disorganised team who really should be allowed to end the agony as soon as possible - tired, demoti...

Re: Every cloud has a silver lining.
It's a bit rich smirking at Pools situation - what do we think their fans make of our floperoo? Also, our set of choirboys would be up for a punch up if we ever play them again. I feel some empathy with your average Hartlepool supporter and its not good that the region has lost it's only league team...

He's done well in his short managerial career managing a club at an extremely low level in the pyramid. Of course you are correct, but don’t forget he was Gray’s right hand man during our rise through the leagues. Some have said he was the brains of the operation, not sure if that is true or not. A...

Impressive memory skills mcfc. I can’t beat that but I’m old enough to remember Chicory Tip/Son Of My Father at number 1. Just. These cross-cultural references often link up with Darlo concerns. I looked up Son of My Father and found it was a hit with Ain't No Mountain High Enough by Diana Ross and...

This is wonderful - my first game was the Luton Town match in April 1966. Bobby Cummings headed the only goal from a corner. I was also there for the first game of the next season when Pev scored the only goal against Watford. England were world champions and Darlo would be playing QPR and Middlesbo...

Fan owned is good in many ways but it does get frustrating Does it? I'm not sure I agree that not spend more than you bring in is "frustrating". It is for me just stark reality. If we're looking at stark reality we'd have to accept that the club can't afford to go up as things stand but when have f...
