Warrington

I say 2-0 to Darlo; three points, clean sheet and forget all that Chorley stuff. We could also have something else to debate then endless interpretation of various posts.

What I would give for a Dave Speedie Alan Walsh Peter Skipper and a Jordan Pickford line up
Peter Skipper - God bless him - would have been the one to pick right now.

Re: Reality

I feel this thread needs pumping up because, in my view, reality hovers over some of the other threads, but leaves the building with others. Anybody seriously hoping for better things after Chorley needs to look harder at the 'highlights'. I didn't go but just looking at some of the goals we let in ...

Re: Gowling MUST go!

I'm only guessing but I don't think it will cost a lot to get rid of JG - I think he will be on a monthly contract as we are still paying for AA - which is one of the reasons why he was given the job in the first place - it was his opportunity to impress while we pay the remainder of AA's contract....

Re: Darlo v Chester

Full marks to the management. A really encouraging outcome and I was glad to see Rivers getting a start, as far as I'm concerned he's a gutsy attack minded player who can score goals. If JG can live with the pressure as well as he seems to who knows what can happen next - six points out of nine whic...

Re: Reality

It's great to see AA continues to live rent free in your head. I agree it's time to let AA go to a deserved rest - he did a number of good things for the club and was the only decent manager out of three since our last successful one, but people fell out with him as well so what - realistically - d...

Re: Reality

I think JG is statistical manager but as I said before statics don't get point on the board, he's reading to much into them ,we need players to fight for their place and the club not some statically brilliant players who really isn't up to the job, I don't think I'd subscribe to the notion of givin...

Worth remembering when fans criticise Armstrong - he got us there and it was always about more than Beck and one or two others.

Wonderful, we can have realistic hope now. The players really showed some character after recent games and JG should be able to build on this - is this the pattern JG has referred to? It looked the business today -football bloody hell.

Farsley

The six matches thread showed this forum at it's best with lots of real support for the club but for me it really comes down to this game. We really have to win it - anything less and I think that's it for this campaign. Farsley are beatable and if JG's elusive pattern shows itself it could happen b...

Re: GOWLING OUT

Also, what’s Danny Rose’ role in all this? He’s seen what the players we had were capable of last season with the correct additions, yet they seem to be intent on a total rebuild….. So they'd look half decent again if we added a Beck, Lambert, Dodds and Leesley? Good luck with that. Truth is a lot ...

What pathetic support they have considering their league position, we'll take more to Farsley next Saturday, a lot further away and we're on a terrible run of form. Can't wait to win the competition for biggest settlement population relative to league level and position cup in future. Smart arse. T...

If Gowling goes, sooner rather than later, could Hatfield be player-manager? Assuming he'd want to. We know and like him and I've lost a bit of faith in the board not to appoint another dud from outside the club.

Re: Spennymoor

I thought we didn't do too badly in the first half apart from their first goal, which should have been saved. We looked pretty poor in the second half and their second was from a really good move with a cracking finish. Robson made a couple of great saves in the second half, even their keeper appla...

Have to agree with Lucan. I can't see any way this can be salvaged - virtual relegation before the clocks go back. We may as well keep Gowling because no-one else could do anything and who would we get to come? I feel Hazel deserves any credit that's going because he's been maligned and mocked but a...

Letting six goals in also lets in the worm of doubt - even we haven't done that yet - get an early goal and we can win it. Let one in and that's it of course but as Marvin Gaye sang 'Change Has Gotta Come'. He also sang 'What's Goin' On ?' which might do just as well. We've just got to go with what ...

Re: Tommy Taylor

Surely one of the factors for a goalkeeper is the quality of your outfield defenders and how many hopeless situations they make for you. If we had a half-way competent back line Taylor would be able to keep out more goals. The clean sheet the other night was very welcome and we might have got a luck...

I’ve had the crystal ball out and I predict 6 points from the 2 games this week, both by a 1-0 score line. Yes nurse I am coming for my medication 😂 We must have similar balls. I think it's possible too - this new manager seems to be setting about things and stirring up some hope. One decent result...

Re: Questions from the Board Update

What do people mean by describing players as 'too comfortable'. I can't believe any of them feel comfortable losing all the time and playing poorly. Do we want them to suffer a bit more? I don't think anyone would seriously envy their lot. Incidentally, how many of the goals the new keeper let in wo...

Re: Hannah returns to Boro

I think Rivers should be used more creatively. The goal he put in on our last home win - see the clip helpfully provided - shows what he can do but I feel his game is about more than this; passing and causing a defender problems would enable Hazel who has been starved of support, to do his stuff. Ki...

Mention of Xmas miracles put me in mind of other religious imagery; both KL's goals were real parting of the sea stuff - twice. Even without all their N's they managed to win, possibly our worst result so far. There were positives for us, but conceding after 15 seconds then again 5 minutes after equalising - well done Hazel - tells it's own story. Why couldn't we score another? Refs. in this league will always be unreliable,...

Would it be the worst idea in the world to invite these 2 lads to train with us for a couple of weeks ? Why don't we play Rivers more often? He might be a bit in and out but In my view he's capable of making things happen up front. Would he and Salkeld be a good option? The manager is going to have to get something out of what he's got in attack as he initially seems more inclined to shore up the defe...
