Re: Boost the Budget
This is the bit about fan ownership that I am beginning to dislike. When Singh sold us down the river, fan ownership was the ONLY option (in the end). I welcomed that in the hope that the Club could be run for the right reasons, in a transparent manner, and be self sustaining. This was, more or les...

Re: Good luck Steve Watson
As sensible appointment as we could've made I think, and with hindsight probably the one that should've been made a couple of months ago. You'd expect he'll get the backing of the vast majority of our supporters having solid experience at this level and being from the north east. Nice to see the art...

Re: How is this being paid for?
Don’t worry Martin Gray says he’ll work for free…that’ll help IF this is true I don’t see that we have any choice tbh. Beggars can’t be choosers Depends what the actual financial situation is and who else is available. I'd take Fenton if finances allow, over Gray for free. Gray will further divide ...

Re: Who next?
A "director of football" is surely daft. If you have someone overseeing how you play and taking care of player movements then you may as well bin the manager's job - thereby making the DOF the manager. I agree, a Director of Football is stupid at this level of football and with our resources. It is...

Re: Who next?
For me Martin Gray is the obvious choice until the end of the season, he's available, he take's no prisoners - dropping out of this league will set us back years, the people that don't want him back need to bite their tongue for now if it means we stay up. There is no obvious other choice. Needs mu...

Re: Who next?
Fenton was a previous Hodgy signing…him to manage with DH as DoF? Why would we bring in a Director of Football, considering we're already way over budget on management costs? Fenton has plenty of experience. If it were to be him, there'd be no sense in bringing someone like Hodgson in. There's been...

Re: Who next?
There's zero evidence to suggest that Martin Gray has the skillset required in our current situation. He succeeded when he had the biggest, or one of the biggest budgets in the division, while he was supported by a scout who had huge knowledge of the local non League game in Harry Dunn. He's not wor...

Re: Hodgy
I think this whole discussion could be summed up as "relegation is not something we want to happen as it will probably create more challenges than opportunities but is an ordinary part of football experienced every year by about 15% of clubs and it doesn't have to be the end of the world". Oh, and ...

Re: Hodgy
Don't think away followings are much of a money spinner. The bigger clubs all know that the facilities are crap, and there attendees reflect this. Yes, the facilities are rubbish at Blackwell Meadows. However, over our seasons at BM, we have benefitted from Scarborough, Shields, York & Gateshead al...

Re: Hodgy
Relegation would be a disaster. Firstly, we would lose c£40k in central funding overnight as a result of dropping out of the National League. We would also play x2 less home league matches = less revenue. Also, as far as I am aware, there is no NPL streaming service. I’m not saying we make a lot fr...

Re: Hodgy
Cant believe that people think relegation may not be a bad thing..... Yes it may ease the wage bill somewhat, theres less panic over ground gradings too. If that's considered a good point then lets just f**k off back to the northern league and it'll be even cheaper! Struggling to see anywhere (in t...

Re: Hodgy
I'd say a lot of steam has already gone. A relegation followed quickly by a promotion could reinvigorate the club - however there are plenty of examples of clubs being relegated who don't bounce back quickly (or at all).

Probably realistic, however these things can only ever look backwards in the information they use.

Re: Jacob Hazel
Whatever the merits or otherwise of the JG / DR (et al) as a management team I don't think that I have never seen any new/relatively new manager / coaching team at DFC get quite such a raw deal from any group of supporters from pretty much day 1 as this one  Its as if, for all their contacts/...

Eight. I very much doubt it was 8  Obviously you are right and i will be wrong... List your 8? Taylor, Lees, Sukar, Rivers, Nelson, Hazel, Felix, Barnes. Oh, and by the way, that's the least of the players he has sent back, sold or transfer listed to 'freshen up the squad'. There are others t...

Re: Jacob Hazel
I'll ask the question for you if you really want to know!! I was told about the number of off field staff by someone who was surprised at just how many extra bodies are turning up now that were nowhere to be seen before Gowling arrived. Do we take it this is someone within the club actively stirrin...

Re: Jacob Hazel
Wtf is Gowling doing trying to creatively stretch the budget, why isn’t he throwing his toys out of the pram and giving self serving interviews about how stacked against him everything is like the last clown in charge ? Did Armstrong shag your wife? I’ve not seen a vendetta like this in years. If y...

Re: Jacob Hazel
Aside from the Kit Man and his assistant, I would expect all of those mentioned to attend training out of necessity. We have no idea who is being paid to do what, but I'd be shocked if we didn't have the Manager, Coaches and Physio attending when Armstrong (or anyone else) was in charge, and analys...

Re: Jacob Hazel
The fact we have signed an undercooked striker, yes with some kind of ability, and seems like everyone is pinning hopes on him. Isn't it more of a worry that we don't have the personnel to create the chances consistently? Yes, possibly an upgrade on Hazel but no guarantees he will bail us out on hi...

Re: Darlington V Rushall
And like loan_star has said, Gowling had repeatedly tried to get rid of Sukar before bringing him back once Burton had been recalled/Lawlor got injured. Similarly, he did this with Tommy Taylor. Ironic that Gowling is now relying on Sukar who, like you pointed out, is now back in the team & playing...

Re: Darlington V Rushall
As much as it opens up the possibility of two reprieves I'd sooner not see us stay up on a technicality. At least we can call it all square on when we missed out on the play-offs on a similar technicality. Beyond me why we let Hazel go knowing Asante was miles away and Nelson missing. Basically lef...

Re: Warrington
The fact Warrington, who were less than ordinary tonight to say the least, occupy a comfortable midtable berth while we are languishing in the bottom 4 speaks volumes for the sh*te we're in at the moment. I couldn't get my head around how pedestrian and negative they were in the first half against ...
