Re: DJ Interview 18/07/22
On an associated note, is there a clear explanation of how the new stadium is being funded anywhere?

Re: DJ Interview 18/07/22
I'm fine with padding out the squad with a couple or three loans, it is where we are at. I remember a few seasons ago, Hereford won promotion from L2 under Graham Turner and literally 4 of their starting 11 were 20 year olds on loan from local Championship clubs. AA has done fantastic to get the pl...

Re: Kidderminster Game
First half - nothing in it. Perhaps Darlo were slightly the better team. Kidderminster's half time team talk was effective as their work rate seemed to go up significantly. They were able to maintain this to the end whilst we tired, and made ineffective substitutions. Out of interest, how many full ...

Re: Darlington V Gateshead
I thought we were lucky to get the game finished due to floodlight issues. The corner by the dressing room was in semi darkness and I'm not sure how the ref. could see his assistant's signals properly in the second half.
Presumably the landlords will rectify it before Saturday.

Re: Fan owned club
Some interesting posts on this. Success definition is multi-faceted, isn't it. Speaking purely personally (and not with my DFCSG hat on...), I'd say that success for DFC is a sustainable, well-run club, with lots of two-way engagement with the fan base, with the club sat at the heart of the communi...

Re: Fan owned club
For me, one of the main risks of our model is attracting the calibre of volunteers required to do a good job of running the Club. Right now, we are in the fortunate position of having some exceptional people at the helm. When, inevitably, they retire or decide that it's all too much hassle, there co...

Re: Reminder Fans Forum tonight
My guess is that a new stadium would be owned by the investor and we would be secure tenants, but still owners of the Club. There would, presumably, be other attractions than just rent from us. It could be that the provision of a facility for us is the leverage required to gain approval for a broade...

I doubt if there's a queue of more competent people waiting to fill any vacancies on the National League Board.
Why the hell would anyone want to do it anyway?
The outcome is more likely to echo The Who's wise words: "Meet the new boss.....

Big decision.
To my knowledge the Club has never refused to play a league fixture in it's 138 year history.
Fully understand the rationale behind it but it still leaves me with a numb feeling.

Re: DFC Voted for League to be Null & Void
There will also be Clubs who were hoping for the grants to mitigate losses which would have occurred even with fans attending. In the event that there are no further grants, the cynical side of me wonders if some Clubs have seen an opportunity to avoid losses with the furlough scheme and have theref...

Re: League restarts 6 February
Worst case scenario: we refuse to continue (for sound business reasons) and are punished by relegation / expulsion from the league. I would hope we would have the opportunity to fund raise to make up the ongoing shortfall before accepting any relagation / expulsion event. If there isn't an appetite ...

We have overcome worse than this to maintain our 100% record, since 1883, of fulfilling all of our fixtures. Sometimes against great odds like in 2012. It's something I'm particularly proud of as a Darlo fan. Worse than a global pandemic that has already killed over 100,000 people in this country! ...

Re: League restarts 6 February
It's the first time all the Clubs at lower levels have a communal reason for getting into the "financial mire". A reasonable number of them manage to do so every year without Covid. The current situation is simply providing a smokescreen for the underlying problems. The Cheltenham Chairman, on live ...

Re: Season at risk of finishing early
Perhaps it was a bit optimistic to start the season with a set amount of grant money on the table, which was insufficient to sustain the full programme without (potentially) any turnstile income.
Benefit of hindsight and all that.

Re: Season at risk of finishing early
We may be legally bound to pay players' wages anyway. I understand that the earlier Covid situation provided for a clause in their contracts which said that payments began only when the season began, but I didn't hear of any further clauses cancelling their contracts shoud a further Covid stoppage o...

Re: Boston Game To Be Replayed
Although Boston may count themselves unlucky, it's the correct decision. As Gramps said, where do you draw the line otherwise? To be fair, the goal came very quickly after the injury so I wouldn't accuse their players of unsporting behaviour regarding this particular incident. Normally, when there i...

I realised today how much I want to see the inside of a stadium again. If nothing changes re covid, then i think our first opportunities to see anything will be the jan away fixtures at southport, chester and kettering, all Tier 2 for the moment. Or will they automatically just ban us because the r...
