Re: Darlington v Hereford
Doesn't look like reinforcements are rushing over the hill just yet which is frustrating, but none the less the players who are here need to stand up and be counted and start dragging us out of the mess we've gotten ourselves into. Siddik being fit is a boost and hopefully Barrow can shake off his ...

Re: Darlington V Scunthorpe
Is this game being streamed live? I've bought my pass and the game doesn't appear on the NLTV schedule? It was in the schedule until we’ll after 7pm. I too paid for a pass after I saw the team announced on social media. I assumed that the announcement of the team meant it is definitely going ahead ...

Re: Boost The Budget January 2024
For those with long memories I remember a proven goalscorer called Gary Lineker looking bang average for England until they found the right partner to bring the best out of him. Hazel was in a similar position, playing in a formation that didnt suit his style of play, under both Armstrong last seas...

Re: Boost The Budget January 2024
Dont think it is crap at all. Think it’s another one that splits the fans. Some had enough of him and thought losing him was correct. Others like me think a 20+ natural type of goal scorer 4/5 seasons on trot would have come good and still reckon Watson would have got him firing again. Strikers are...

Can’t believe anyone who regularly witnessed Hazel mope around every Saturday believes we should’ve persisted with him. Doesn’t mean the replacement is the right one though.

Re: Southport
Okay, I will try to answer these points - it's just my personal POV though... Usually when a team is actively looking for promotion and sitting top of the league at Xmas the board/manager push on that extra mile to bolster the numbers - like Gray did in our last promotion winning season. But we did...

Re: Southport
Yep, the board. They have to shoulder some blame and responsibility here for starting the malaise and allowing it to fester. Last Xmas when we were top and firing on all cylinders I suspect certain members of the board got twitchy and were perhaps relieved when the malaise set in. It always seemed ...

Re: Southport
sadly the squandering of a record BTB by AA alongside the horrendous appointment of Gowling has killed us and gives Steve Watson a near impossible task. From what I heard the budget was actually lower this season despite the record amount raised by the fans. And the extra they found for Gowling was...

Re: Southport
Well at least SW has seen first hand the job in front of him. Very typical performance from this Darlo side. We compete okay, defensively we’re not a disaster but are well short on quality going forward. Tamworth, Curzon & Scunthorpe to come. How we’ve managed to entice SW to walk into this I don’t ...

Re: JG sacked
Bearing in mind the club have come straight out and told us the length of Watson’s contract, I find it strange that J.G’s terms/contract details are still hush hush. I still feel that his dismissal might not be costing too much. I suspect it could be more in response to the criticism they received ...

Re: Southport
Feels like the gap between us and safety has been about the same for some time, tonight is a massive opportunity to make some real ground on it. Like to see Lawlor back in the side as he was probably one of the only decent performers over Christmas and will be suited to the long ball tactics you usu...

Re: Good luck Steve Watson
Talking of forwards, the mention of Curry brings back the question of his fitness to play. I think I had heard that he was due to be ready to play around now. Does anyone know what his current state of fitness is? Looking at him trying to run prior Scarboro game it appears the quality street had go...

Re: Good luck Steve Watson
Just seen Hazels goal, fantastic finish. Know we have to move on but what we would give for a front 3 of Felix, Barnes, Hazel going forward. Creativity, pace and a finisher, exactly what Watson has to somehow get back in very quickly. So many very poor mistakes by AA, JG and the board. Quite a task...

Agree 97. Someone said in a other thread regarding the squad that Alun left, until Howling dismantled it. Re: New manager poll
Word on the street is two Directors threatened to resign if Gray was appointed on the commentary chat. Quite right too, Gray would have split the club. I find it hard to understand that so many people wanted him back. All would be forgotten very quickly if we started winning. Don’t underestimate th...

Re: New manager poll
You’d be surprised if there are experienced managers like Fenton & Watson that would want to walk into that dressing room. If they are, brilliant but if not the board seriously need a rethink on their MG stance.

Re: Who next?
Steve Watson is the only sensible solution now. First of all, we shouldn't have sacked AA so early in the season. But, as we did, we should have picked Watson there and then, for me it would have been a literal no brainer. Now the echo says Watson, Stockdale and another one I can't remember are in ...

Re: Who next?
100% this - no way Gray unites the fan base. The same can be said for Hodson too - far too many people see Frank Tweddle's book on us as their sole source of managerial inspiration. The only thing that will unite the fanbase is winning matches. The reservations about MG would be largely pushed asid...
