Re: Best Darlo Loan XI - Thread
I believe the popular folklore about mcarrison was that he kicked a pools player up the arse and was sent off immediately, then never seen again.

Re: New Shirts
Some clubs seem to have different prices shirts depending on whether they are a replica or a match-style, so maybe arsenal do have a £110 shirt as well, but I'm afraid I don't really understand the difference.

Re: Aaron Martin wanted from Gateshead
My understanding is that Craig is a totally committed fan like all of us and some of the comments are out of order. Seems like we were on the verge of signing Martin and he was probably told that, maybe jumped the gun a touch, and then something happened to change the outcome. Sadly for me as think...

Re: Aaron Martin wanted from Gateshead
Tough to judge this one. Has shades of Cassidy about it, but then he was prolific in his last spell in the NLN. He looks like the big burley bugger we want, but then so did Jacob Blyth.

Re: Goodbye Jack Lambert
Given he's played in Scotland before I think he'd probably travel if it meant a full time deal. Beck did the same after all. So I'm sure there's plenty of potential destinations still open to him.

Re: Chorley
I'm also not sure that either Wycombe or Portsmouth have made the kind of break neck speed progress that would make you say the sale to private ownership was absolutely brilliant. I think Wycombe are in the same league, and Portsmouth moved up one - but who would argue Portsmouth belong in league tw...

Re: New Signing - Jordan Mustoe
It sounds like this is the first time he has played at that level - he has mostly been full time overseas before so the fact he is coming directly from Warrington rylands is maybe a bit misleading.

Re: New Signing - Jordan Mustoe
Certainly had a varied career, albeit he doesn't seem to have stood still for too long anywhere. Hope he finds a home here, sounds like something we might have lacked at points last season, bit of balance at left back.

Perhaps this thread illustrates the mindset of some of these “business men” when they buy into football clubs. They’ll take chances, borrow money, load up debt without much care for the town/community, or heritage and fans. What’s the worst that can happen? The club will go bust and they can walk a...

Re: Chorley
Yes, that's an excellent post that puts into perspective what it is we're trying to avoid. Yet it really barely scratches the surface when it comes to the line about fans of non supporter owned clubs being perfectly happy with their lot. Manchester United, Chelsea, Everton, Tottenham are four exampl...

Re: D.J. interview online now.
I believe Wycombe were fan owned up until a couple of years ago, so some of their most successful seasons were under fan ownership. They have used a supporter share scheme to underpin their finances, and have kept hold of the ground after the club was sold. They also benefited from player sales. htt...

Yes, good player etc.
BUT
He was a regular in a low scoring midfield that most people accept was badly unbalanced last year, in a team that finished 12th. Is this really, truly the end of the world?

Re: Purver to Scarborough
Well he's definitely not ab attacking one. Which is likely part of the problem in central midfield last season. We will miss Purver. He was excellent last season and we will be hard-pressed to replace him. That's pretty much the point I was making. I just wonder whether the two statements you've ma...

Re: Purver to Scarborough
But as many people have argued, we have two defensive midfielders in the team when purver and moke play alongside one another.
Purver was very good last season, but he didn't chip in as many goals as liddle, and I'd like to think the qualities he brings can be replicated without *that much trouble.

Brackley giving it a thorough bottling here, kiddy going up.
Very odd, kiddy were really pedestrian at their place in the autumn.

Re: Local clubs released lists
Mitchell Curry (striker)- former Boro youngster, has experience in NLN with Gateshead might be on the radar. Believe he’s been released by Harford Athetic (American club in the second tier). Now that's the kind of leftfield thinking I crave over the summer. None of your resigning former players non...

I think him and Curtis Edwards came at about the same time to get some game time in England possibly. Edwards also played for Graham potter in Norway, I think, but not sure if it was before or after us.

Re: Meeting with board
Which ones? Newell probably the only one for me but hard to say he was too much of a success because he was part of the team during latter season drift. Howe was no good, Blyth just disappeared in the last few weeks with no explanation (although a combination of never scoring goals and Armstrong alw...

⬆️ No. You wrote that he might need 2 weeks away to come back and say "If I stay, we do this". I mean, who's he going to direct this towards? D.J. his boss? And in the meantime all things at the club go to sleep! Although I'm sure Alun does have emotions, I'm positive he won't take an age to lay do...

I think it's probably less to do with standards set by other clubs as supporters wanting something to get stuck into after what feels like a horrendous period of drift, particularly when we're trying to drive boost the budget. So I think you're right, but also understand the impatience as it feels l...

Does anyone know whether we ever used the third night of training that went into players' contracts this season? Seemed a big deal last summer.
