Re: Safe Standing
Why do we not get the warnings about standing on the grassy bank at BM open end like we used to get at Bishop? Don't think it is a priority for us at the moment with home crowds only about 1400 and still only mid table. Also any news on the community stadium or plans for the sports village? That wh...

Re: DFCSG Board nominations required
Shawry - have you checked spam otherwise email membership secretary. Swansquaker - did you read last paragraph of infrastructure report. Yes, it said the following: Moving forward, it is anticipated that the infrastructure workload will continue to be centred on meeting future Ground Grading/Footba...

Re: DFCSG Board nominations required
Darlopartisan - if you are a member best read the report that was emailed to you on Tuesday especially the work the infrastructure group have been doing. I notice we're still looking at the pipe issue... if that issue can be resolved then structurally we're ok in terms of development, but let's be ...

Re: Management
Maybe some of us on here got too used to the 1883 steamroller years. They were good but couldn't last forever and we all need to remember where we came from and what has led us to this point. That's not the case, and actually it's a little bit patronising to anyone who believes TW is underperformin...

Re: Management
The bottom line is if the club is in serious danger of spiralling into a full-on relegation battle then the club/board should act in it's best interests. It is on record that the expectations this season are much higher than where we are now and we are not looking likely of achieving even the bare ...

Re: Am I the only one - balanced view
Yep, some improvement there! When you look where Donny (& Swansea) are now, you do wonder where it all went wrong though. Yep, when I followed the Swans we played each other regularly... I started going to the arena when the Swans were in the league above... maybe 13/14 years ago, I'd only just mov...

Re: Am I the only one - balanced view
I may be the only one, but getting a little bit disheartened at the negativity lately so thought I would review the last 12 months or so, to give myself a balanced view. We get a new CEO in, who has lots of senior position management experience. I completely agree with this, Johnston fills me with ...

Re: Am I the only one - balanced view
The post makes it sound like anyone raising doubts about our long-term prospects under TW is somehow just negative, impatient and not a real fan. When some of those people have also contributed a lot of cash to the club over the years and broken their backs clearing snow etc. I genuinely fear that ...

I've often wondered if supporters of all teams have this weird obsession with bringing back former players/managers or is it just us? No way should we take Gray back... and no way should we appoint Atkinson... don't know why people are obsessed with the next manager being ex Darlo, not exactly work...

Puzzles me how they make training twice a week liveing so far away Well, they finish work around 3pm, meet up to car share (I hope, as we're probably paying their travel) get on the road for 4, by the time they meet and get out of Birmingham, and drive for around 3 hours on a very good day, 4 more ...

Re: Aldershot V Darlo 6 Sept 2008 League 2
One comment has a particular resonance even today. "There seems to be an epidemic of apathy amongst the majority of the populace" And the Leeds and Newcastle support... as an outsider who came to follow Darlo later on due to moving here, I've never understood that - especially Leeds. I now travel a...

For fluck sake. It’s not unwinnable, but it could have been a *lot* easier, and I can’t imagine it’ll be a big crowd either. It will be if we do the sensible thing and charge a fiver with kids for a quid... flood the advertising across town so that everyone knows and we may get a fair few thousand....

Re: Darlington V Alfreton Match Thread
As I said elsewhere, if we continue to struggle, at some point we need to question how long we leave it. That's what I was saying, it's just that "some point" isn't now. We have the 8th highest average attendance out of 22 teams... if we were in the south we'd have the third highest... we'd be in t...

Re: Darlington V Alfreton Match Thread
Looking back at the comments on this and the TW tactics thread there do seem to be enough of our posters who are either wanting or expecting a change of manager as they believe without it our season will be over before it has begun. I confess to being one of those less certain members of our commun...

Who knows where he goes from here!? It would be a huge gamble on Singh’s part to get him in at Hartlepool - Bates got his first win of the season yesterday as well. Where does he go below us though? South Shields aren’t going to replace Fenton so he’s looking at Northern League - Bishop...? With gr...

Re: Sporting Village
Another question is - where does this leave Darlington Rugby Club - could they potentially leave to go to this Rugby hub and Blackwell Meddows be left for football. Now that's an interesting thought! They own the club house and first team pitch... wonder how much they'd want for it... we can level ...

On first glance difficult to see how we would fit into this plan. Has as been said appears all about MPRFC and the World cup. One interesting note on the Northern Echo feature is the name Richard Upshall appearing again, strikingly similar to the vision he was proposing a few year back, but in a di...

Re: Temp Seats at HP
Alternative is to knock down the clubhouse and build there, which would be the most convenient in terms of location. But the obvious problems are that A) we don't own the ground and unless there's a substantial benefit to do so, I don't see the rugby club allowing it and B) the old chestnut, financ...

Re: Coming up to the NLN next season from the EvoPrem
The proposed Sports Hub has gone very quiet, but is one last chance for the Council to do the right thing by our club and give us some support. They must realise by now that unless they take some prompt action, the town will continue to decline. Darlo council won't do owt for us... they never have....

Re: Coming up to the NLN next season from the EvoPrem
Hereford clearly retained or have re-established their fanbase after they went pop - 4,556 at their home game yesterday. Could be very competitive next season. One of the main reasons for their success has been the unequivocal support from the local council who have just completed the 10 year lease...

Re: Coming up to the NLN next season from the EvoPrem
Yep, playing at Bishop certainly put a cap on the potential crowds from the start. Both Chester and Hereford saw huge increases when they started again under fan ownership at a lower level. I think critically, being able to play at home in an appropriate stadium from the start was the factor. They ...

Spennymoor's game against Kidderminster scheduled for tomorrow night has now been moved to Harrogate Towns ground. Decent chance we will be playing our game against them on Thursday there as well. There literally must be nowhere for the rain to go. With more rain tomorrow in the North East, there must be doubts about Tuesday at least, if not our game. Even if it doesn't rain, it'll need vertical-draining and lots of water pumped off, or they need to borrow a super-sopper from Chester-le-stre...
