Womens football

Post by theoriginalfatcat » Tue Apr 07, 2015 4:12 pm

I watched the Women's football show on BBC last week and it was entertaining on so many different levels - but it was the punditry that really tickled me, with the lady pundits trotting out all the tedious clichés that their male counterparts always use. Lines like ---

"It's all to play for"
"Giving 110%"
"They'll be there or thereabouts" - and all that sort of thing.

I like women's football but I think it would benefit from a fresher type of TV coverage, not just aping the accepted norm, as it's all very well bigging up the big Arsenal Ladies v Liverpool Ladies game but it looks a little daft on the highlights when there's hardly anyone watching.

Anyway, with the Women's World cup nearly upon us I was wondering (just for fun) whether a top quality Ladies Team, England for example, could compete with a Mens team out of the lower leagues? Darlo for example?

Or to put it the other way round, could Darlo compete with the England Ladies team?

Obviously the men would be stronger and that would be a useful advantage, but would strength and power be enough to see off what could well be the more skilful playmaking of the Ladies team?

Imagine, Darlo v England Ladies :) it would raise some money for charity !!

I find it very very hard to believe that even the best women's team could beat a side like ours based on standard rules over 90 minutes.

Size, strength, pace - just not comparable even if the technique was. I've seen enough women's football to be pretty confident about this.

We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.

Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

Premier League Womens football is at the same level as my 10year olds primary school league....

We would win 20 nil easy even with our current level team

Terrible mistake by the Ref!

However, we score the penalty and go through.

The current Darlo team would absolutely muller any women's international team. It would be no contest.
