Re: Darlington v Gateshead Match Thread
I think Raj will have begun to understand that there's something uniquely entertaining about Darlo. Great comeback. If we can round that off with two winning trips to Wembley AND a move back to Feethams I think we can safely add those to our previous feats (such as getting knocked out of the FA cup twice in the same season).

Re: Darlington v Gateshead Match Thread
Hopefully things will stay quiet off the pitch during the next week and the optimism and enthusiasm from today is carried over to the second leg!
It's going to be a tense one, I don't think there's been so much anticipation surrounding a game since the play offs!

Wow. Just got in from having to go into work today, and all I knew was that we were 2-0 down at half-time. I'd actually accepted the defeat until I came onto the board! Brilliant, absolutely brilliant, and the players deserve all the plaudits they get.
Just wish I could have been there to witness it.

Re: Darlington v Gateshead Match Thread
The ultimate games of 2 halves! First half they looked like scoring with every attack, the second half they never had an attempt on target! Great second half performances by Chandler and Hatch especially and I never thought I would say this but Modest made a BIG difference after he came on.
I really hope we don't try and hold out for a draw next week as they are a dangerous side. Also hope that Hatch's injury isn't too bad but he looked in agony going off.

Re: Darlington v Gateshead Match Thread
C'mon lads. Less of the negativity for just one night please. Let's just bask in the result just this once.

Have to agree Modest was really bad today....loved the bit where he tried to stare the linesman out on the other side of the pitch instead of running through on goal!quakerray wrote:i thought modest was rubbish, i thought brown had a great game got plenty of crosses in.
Dan Burn was good today...not his best performance overall but I thought he looked solid for most of the game!

Modest was offside and He Knew It. Hence the Stop Start Nature of his Run...sacko_uk wrote:Have to agree Modest was really bad today....loved the bit where he tried to stare the linesman out on the other side of the pitch instead of running through on goal!quakerray wrote:i thought modest was rubbish, i thought brown had a great game got plenty of crosses in.

Re: Darlington v Gateshead Match Thread
may or may not have been offside, i sit level with the 18yrd box but can't remember if he was or wasnt but why did he stop, your supposed to play to the whistle, not stand there for 5 minutes waiting for it to blow.

Re: Darlington v Gateshead Match Thread
If he was offside, why didn't the linesman flag when he eventually put their defender under pressure, therefore becoming 'active'?

Re: Darlington v Gateshead Match Thread
Thanks everyone.
I was doing the co comentary with Ray, and yes, I did the one against Fleetwood.
I have been going to Darlo since 1968 and Darlo is in my blood.
If you cant get excited about Darlo scoring, especially in a game like yesterdays, then you dont watch much football.
The atmosphere was electric yesterday.
I was excited and extremely nervous at the same time. We all know what Darlo does to us as fans!!!
I would like to thank Ray for asking me along to co comentate. It certainly is an experience.
And yes, I too heard the reply at 6.05 on Saturday and I could not believe how loud I was!!!

Re: Darlington v Gateshead Match Thread
This was what everyone was saying around Me. However, from where I was sat, Modest looked clearly Offside. If he was 100% commited to get that ball and never stared out the linesman then He would of been flagged offside for becoming 'Active'quakerray wrote:may or may not have been offside, i sit level with the 18yrd box but can't remember if he was or wasnt but why did he stop, your supposed to play to the whistle, not stand there for 5 minutes waiting for it to blow.
