Boxing Day

Post by Old Git » Tue Dec 07, 2021 8:36 pm

Haven’t seen any ticket arrangements yet for our away game at Spennymoor. I would have thought this would be all ticket at least for our supporters. After the shambles of the last visit I am guessing we may only get around 800 tickets for the side of the pitch. With less than 3 weeks to go and only 1 home game before Boxing Day I would have expected details to have been published by now. Anybody heard anything?

I used to enjoy going to Spenny , but after fence gate and the accusations that followed, I decided I would never go there again, so I’ll miss the Boxing Day , but not one penny of my money will go to that club.
Rant over.

My feelings are similar, however thanks must go to Spennymoor for giving us use of their ground during our promotion run in.

I can understand your feelings as they were bang out of order but if we don’t go and support the team will we be playing into Spennymoor’s hands. Surely a large and vocal away support has to be a help to our players, and a lack of it a help for them.
Wonder if we are going to see some sort of a boycott from our fans.

Can understand both sides of the, to go/not go debate, however the statements made by Spennymoor after the farcical fence collapse ,the way the stewards reacted during the game before and after the fence collapse, left me in no doubt that it was not safe place to be in, so I won't be going, which saddens me because Boxing Day football is something special.

Only 600 tickets, which is probably the safe level their away end can hold.

I'm not going - if a club can't guarantee my safety and take ownership of their responsibilities, they aren't getting my custom.

I would think it's a possibility selling 2000 tickets, Spennymoor have an average crowd of 1608

I'm 99 percent sure I won't be going.

The bottom line is that football should be safe and enjoyable. At that infamous game I didn't feel particularly safe and it certainly wasn't enjoyable.

I wasn't directly involved in the fence situation but I saw it unfold and found it predictable, avoidable and unpleasant.

Have they been giving them away or something? I was very surprised to read the attendance against Telford was 1554.

Try not including all the free season tickets / giveaways / non attending season ticket holders in your attendances and count how many actually turn up.

I said after the Shinnanigan,s of fencegate that I personally wouldn't ever go to spendeylot again I haven't changed my mind ,they just won't accept that they created that horrible situation by bad saftey management, I will stay at home safe. It's a shame that fans were blamed for their mistakes,
I will miss going to a game for the first time in 50 years, but I feel so strongly about what happened
With fencegate and their denials.so I wouldn't give them my money on principle, I am sure that 600 Darlington fans will turn out .

And Ferrets Loanstar. Don't forget the Ferrets.

One with a sparkly collar actually walked down the pavement with me towards the ground one night - I've put this little story up on here before so won't repeat.

Was recently asked by a Darlo exile coming home for Christmas whether the Spenny game would be ticketed & if possible could I get him a ticket so we could go together. He was shocked when I said no details had yet been given, but in no circumstance would I be attending after previous experience.
Instead, gave him the details for mixlr.com Darlo Fans Radio. They cannot match the atmosphere of being there, but at least my money is not going into Spennymoor's coffers. Will be at BM to watch the lads in the New Year.

I think Bradley Groves is a decent guy, and those around him at spendylot have let him down Badly.

Details of the ticket sales have now been released by the club. 400 will be available for sale from 1.30 at BM to Season Ticket holders and DFCSG members only. Any remaining from those 400 will be available to buy from Quaker Retail on Sunday and Monday, again for Season Ticket holders and DFCSG members. The remaining 200 tickets will go on sale online from 7pm on Monday evening which will also be for Season Ticket holders and DFCSG members only. Any still remaining will go on general sale online from 9am on Tuesday.
Think I have got that right. Full details on official website. Would imagine they will be snapped up pretty quickly.

I have to say I was there at the fencegate game and I remember it was David Johnson who came over and sorted the problem out and arranged the clearing of the seats so fans could move down that end and create some space, it was a shambles from Spennymoor. Saying all that I for one will be going, would not miss it for the world, even if I am on my own😁

Fylde will bring 50-60 on Saturday ,Gateshead and Evenwood Utd will bring 250-300 so around the 2000 mark hopefully is the best we can hope for, the only reasonable away following is York and understandable that this has fallen due Covid and results.
Would be nice a few Boro supporters make Gateshead game or a few Northern league fans who haven't got Xmas games perhaps

I think you are being a little optimistic if you think that Spendy and Gateshead will bring that many supporters to Darlington. Maybe 150 but not any more than that.

That’s dedication! I’m going up on Christmas Eve for a few days. Managed to get a ticket for the Spenny match so will be my first time seeing a match in the North East since Covid. I came up for the first match of the season but we know what happened with that!
