Re: NLN playoffs
Boston lost 15 games this season, yet they’re in the playoff final - it just shows what can be achieved.

To be fair, the Chorley fans threw the flares into the young York fans on the pitch and the young yorkies threw it back into the chorley stand back at themtheoriginalfatcat wrote: ↑Sun May 15, 2022 1:45 pmYork fans caused some damage on Weds night. To celebrate they trashed some seats, threw flares about and generally kicked off a bit with the Chorley fans.
What would have happened if they'd lost?

Re: NLN playoffs
Rare you see 6th v 7th in a play off final so well done and hope yous win it, would be a derby game for gateshead
I may not live in the north east anymore but i still support the north east teams
Re: NLN playoffs
85 miles between them for a derby game.Really??shildonlad wrote: ↑Sun May 15, 2022 8:35 pmRare you see 6th v 7th in a play off final so well done and hope yous win it, would be a derby game for gateshead
Re: NLN playoffs
Appreciated, I can't stand Paul Cox and we lost both games against them this season, they're just brutes. Strange that we lost 14 games and Boston 15 yet we both got to the finalshildonlad wrote: ↑Sun May 15, 2022 8:35 pmRare you see 6th v 7th in a play off final so well done and hope yous win it, would be a derby game for gateshead
Re: NLN playoffs
Actually 5th v 7th I think but I agree not the final you might have expected.shildonlad wrote: ↑Sun May 15, 2022 8:35 pmRare you see 6th v 7th in a play off final so well done and hope yous win it, would be a derby game for gateshead

NLN playoffs
Always get this point made every year the play offs come around and Stoddart made the same point on Twitter yesterday. I don’t recall anyone on here going on about it when we were in the hunt. Total hypocrisy really.

Re: NLN playoffs
watched Brackley v York highlights and have to say Pete Jameson MOTM for York who were hanging on just a bit
Re: NLN playoffs
The playoffs are brilliant. They absolutely make the season more interesting at the end and the games themselves are so good to be involved in.
I was gutted we lost in 99/00 but I am still glad we had those semi-finals against Hartlepool were able to go to Wembley. Going to those games are the experiences you never forget.

Re: NLN playoffs
Yes, I agree. In our league if you finish 7th to 2nd you get a ticket into another competition - tough on 2nd and 3rd but that's how it is, and not forgetting that both Brackley and Fylde missed an evening game and were guaranteed the semi final at home, yet they both still cocked it up!!lo36789 wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 10:38 amThe playoffs are brilliant. Re: NLN playoffs
Slight deviation from topic, but according to the Hartlepool Mail, Gateshead manager Mike Williamson is attracting interest from Hartlepool and Barrow. I think that would come as quite a blow to Gateshead if he moved on at this critical point.
Re: NLN playoffs
Given how fantastic a job he has done at Gateshead, losing him would be devastating for Gateshead. After what he has done for Gateshead, I can understand other clubs considering him for a vacancyMaurice_Peddelty wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 12:21 pmSlight deviation from topic, but according to the Hartlepool Mail, Gateshead manager Mike Williamson is attracting interest from Hartlepool and Barrow. Cannot see Williamson being remotely interested in the Poolies vacancy.loan_star wrote:6 and counting......QUAKERMAN2 wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 3:40 pmOut of interest, how many managers have Poolie had since Raj took control?Must be at least 4 .spen666 wrote:Given how fantastic a job he has done at Gateshead, losing him would be devastating for Gateshead. Re: NLN playoffs
I hated the idea of play offs but I've changed my mind because we've had so much fun and outings with some heartaches thrown in! Hereford away leg was one of my favourite ever away days.

Re: NLN playoffs
Exactly this. Lets hope im right in thinking gateshead is more of a project for mike and hes not in it for the money. He joined gateshead as a player and got paid peanuts and stuck by them when they nearly went under and kept the young players going. He took the managers job when no one else wanted itspen666 wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 2:29 pmGiven how fantastic a job he has done at Gateshead, losing him would be devastating for Gateshead. Re: NLN playoffs
I reckon Williamson will be gone and he'll then take Langstaff with him.

As far as I can see he finished the project. Imagine it will be time to find a new one that pays better now he's proven himself.
Re: NLN playoffs
Williamson is a big follower of the Japanese concept of Kaizen – or change for better – constantly seeking continuous improvement everyday.
If he pitches in with Singh and the Poolies he may also eventually be looking to follow the path to hara-kiri.

At least Poolies have a cheap & radical preventative for spread of monkeypox.

Re: NLN playoffs
Three cheers for York - it might have been us but they've somehow got there though I think they'll need an upgrade if they do go up. Besides Boston is a nice day out. Brackley and Fylde shouldn't trouble us next season as we know how to win there.
Re: NLN playoffs
Hoping for a Boston win today. Love a day/night out at York! Really enjoyed our first trip to their new ground despite the result.
Re: NLN playoffs
Really hoping for a Boston win. York are one of the few decent away days left, and they always bring a few hundred to boost our income.
