Local Clubs Released Players
Local Clubs Released Players
Thought it might be an idea to have one place for plays released from local ish clubs that we might be looking to sign.
York are the first to announce with releasing Connor Brown, Aidan Connolly, James Gray, Sam Muggleton, Daniel Rowe, Michael Rankine, Luke Simpson, Connor Smith, and Theo Wharton.
Not interested in any of them. Next... (how long till next season again?)

Re: Local Clubs Released Players
You don’t want James Gray?!
Re: Local Clubs Released Players
I genuinely laughed at his performances when we had him on loan first time round. How he has gone on to have another 5 years in professional football is completely beyond me.Darlo_CR wrote:You don’t want James Gray?!
I'm a 24 year old accountant, but he genuinely gives me hope my shot at full time football isn't over.

Brown is decent full back, but nothing better than what we have/could get.JE93 wrote:Thought it might be an idea to have one place for plays released from local ish clubs that we might be looking to sign.

Connolly thinks he's much better than he is.
James Gray is James Gray.
Sam Muggleton has an absolutely massive throw but not much else.
Daniel Rowe was a panic signing.
Michael Rankine has health issues meaning he'll likely not play at anywhere near this level again.
Simpson is a decent keeper but some way short of the likes of Talbot, Bartlett or Pears.
Smith works hard but isn't up to it.
Wharton couldn't force his way into one of the worst midfields they've had in years.
So yeah, next.

Re: Local Clubs Released Players
Noticed Jaz Singh was released by Telford the other day. Goalkeeper, has played for Gloucester in recent times. According to the article was getting interest from Kidderminster before joining Telford.

He's not played much football mind in recent times. Could be midlands based I guess?

Sunderland must be getting rid of some!
But probably not as good as who we already have in the squad
(Thought I would get that in first!)

Re: Local Clubs Released Players
Nathan Jarman is leaving Gainsborough Trinity. 10 goals this season in a pretty poor Gainsborough side.
Also, Jon-Paul Pittman has been transfer-listed by Torquay United. Sure we agreed a contract with him last summer. 13 in 28 when he last played at this level with Harrogate Town.

That would be some commute!

I think Connolly has talent but perhaps him and Gray didn’t get on. Not sure if he’d be good enough for what we’d want

Connolly hasn’t gotten on with any of the York managers
Re: Local Clubs Released Players
The ability is there, but he seems to think of himself as League Two player minimum which reflects in his attitude and training.D_F_C wrote:I think Connolly has talent but perhaps him and Gray didn’t get on. Not sure if he’d be good enough for what we’d want
Has a record of injuries too.

Kabongo Tshimanga been released from Boston had a decent record for them, think he’s played for TW before might be worth a look for a back up option

Boston fans surprised by that decision from what I have seen. 15 goals last season in all competitions. Only 21 and played under TW at Corby.

But would he be injured that week
Re: Local Clubs Released Players
Not a local club but Sam Russell released by Forest Green. If he was coming back up north I’d like to think we’d be interested. Former team mate of Wright and White.

I think Sam Russell was always a possibility. This may well happen if he's not got a better offer - he's 35 now.piggy wrote:Not a local club but Sam Russell released by Forest Green. If he was coming back up north I’d like to think we’d be interested. Former team mate of Wright and White.

still young enough to do a job
Re: Local Clubs Released Players
Could be a good shout if he's looking to return to the north east and still retains some of the ability he had 6 or 7 years ago.
