Spennymoor Boxing Day

Post by Old Git » Thu Dec 24, 2020 2:34 pm

First of all hope the game goes ahead as plenty of rain forecast Christmas Day night and Boxing Day. Sure Darlo Pete can provide his assessment of the weather situation to keep us informed.
Important game for both teams as they will both be looking for points to kickstart their respective campaigns. Usually a good game of football when the sides meet and expecting a few goals on Saturday. Hope we can start converting more chances and can come out on top this time.
Merry Christmas to all whoever you support and a safe and secure New Year.
Of course being an old git I really should be saying bah humbug to the lot of you!

Don't want to disappoint you OG. Someone I was talking to today said they had seen pictures of the pitch with lots of lying water.

The forecast is for it to be dry on Christmas Day & on Boxing Day light rain from 13-00 & it only turns heavy at 18-00, so if the pitch can recover from the recent rainfall the game should go ahead as planned, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a pitch inspection on the morning of the match.

Yes the last thing we need is games postponed, otherwise we'll be playing 3 games a week till the end of the season.

But if there is a positive from that it could mean we're playing matches in front of fans rather than empty grounds?

If we have to play 3 games a week, some people won't be able too or willing to pay top see all those matches, especially if we are struggling at the wrong end of the table.

I’ve seen pictures of the pitch with lots of lying water as well. They were from 2017 before we got the drainage put in since when we’ve had very few problems with “lying water”.

Where is our "fan walking the dog" correspondent when you need them to report on the state of pitch?

Conversely quite a lot will though Pete. In the last two months of the season (April/May) there are loads of matches lined up and those willing and able will be able to pig out on football, home and away.

some people would probably do anything to watch a football match after nearly a year without

Looking forward to it, providing I can get the stream. Missed out on the last two games, constant buffering on the entry screen despite numerous reboots. Thank God for DFR.

Flash scores shows it as postponed - but then it has it as being play ed at Spenny so don't assume its true.

No way is the game off, looks like flashscores have us playing away to Spenny as well as at home.
Weather fairly mild, no frost.

If had been at Spennymoor, it would of been certainly on, the pitch is in perfect condition, thanks to the excellent drainage system

And of course the stewarding & gates would be able to cope with the DAFTS massive 😄

Flashscores generally is pretty appalling. LiveScores is better.

The number of times they show a goal only to change their minds! It’s infuriating!!

Well we have now first Campbell with a great chance and then Sousa both completely fluff their lines!

Given we've only got into their box once this half surely we just need to try some shots from anywhere
