Season at risk of finishing early
Re: Season at risk of finishing early
Option 2 is means tested. Ultimately though it will be clawed back - only those who benefited (ie received 'grants') would have the money clawed back from them.My opinion wrote: ↑Fri Jan 22, 2021 12:37 pmTwo questions..(they may have been touched on earlier in this thread but I can't find them if they have)
One. If the second option is taken by the National league only,(National leagues north and south both ended).
Does the repayment of the loan still fall onto every team in all leagues.
Two. If option two is accepted by all three leagues, Will that give every club an equal share of the money or will the top league once again grab 60% of the money leaving 40% to the lower two leagues..
Sorry if I have missed the detail if it has been mentioned.
But in reality nothing would stop the NL changing the distribution payments across the board in order to balance their own finances following taking the loan.

Re: Season at risk of finishing early
Does this mean we furlough for two weeks?

Re: Season at risk of finishing early
No income coming in from matches, and no funding yet to be provided from the league/DCMS for January, so yes presumably we will have to.
Thankfully it appears that all of our players/management have been employed by us prior to the furlough cut-off date of 30 October 2020.
Re: Season at risk of finishing early
Accept you cannot eliminate risk totally, but most industries have safety at work policy, PPE, hi-viz & so on to mitigate risks but the National League is not even insisting on Covid tests for players. Not sure the FA is enforcing their own recommendation on goal celebrations. No point in having HASAW & Covid policies if they are not enforced.

It’s up to the employer to enforce them.jjljks wrote: ↑Fri Jan 22, 2021 3:22 pmAccept you cannot eliminate risk totally, but most industries have safety at work policy, PPE, hi-viz & so on to mitigate risks but the National League is not even insisting on Covid tests for players. There are strict Covid-19 protocols in place at this level, which clubs enforce, along with clubs carrying out their own risk assessments.
However, we do need regular testing at this level if we are to continue (in order to reduce the risk & transmission), aligned with our Premier League & EFL ‘elite’ counterparts.
A player can refuse to attend the work-place on H&S grounds, a club could also refuse to play on H&S grounds, but this is where it can get a bit messy and very legal.

Re: Season at risk of finishing early
It now appears that option 2 is off the table, the National League is no longer considering taking out the loan itself and distributing this to clubs as a grant.
So, it has to be a DCMS u-turn (to provide funding as grants) or null & void.
Crikey.

Great overview from the Chester point of view and where we are at now. Loans fully off the table.
Re: Season at risk of finishing early
It's clear that loans won't happen and there'll be no more grants which leaves ending this increasingly chaotic, ridiculous and failing season as the only realistic outcome now.

Re: Season at risk of finishing early
Perhaps it was a bit optimistic to start the season with a set amount of grant money on the table, which was insufficient to sustain the full programme without (potentially) any turnstile income.
Benefit of hindsight and all that.

Re: Season at risk of finishing early
I now believe that the league management has lost respect within the football fraternity, one cockup after another, the only way out of the mess that they created is to end the season now ,null and viod it,restore sanity ,start again in August all things being alot better a new season with new optimism that health wise the country has got a grip of the virus, the league management distribution of the £11,000000 was an absolute disgrace yet the criteria of the distribution has not called for the league management to answer in full how they came to the conclusions that they did.,everyone knows how skewed their decisions were, I really think that the league management committee have to be taken to task over it, maybe if they published how they came to the decisions they did it might help repair some of the damage caused.
Re: Season at risk of finishing early
Hopefully these 2 weeks will give the League management committee time to reflect on the mess they have created. Not expecting any miracle so perhaps mass resignation is the least they could do. Certainly don't expect the FA or DCMS to come up with a sensible solution.

At the moment that is the position

Not had any acknowledgement from our MP, let alone any interest in the plight of soccer at our level

You can email him here, peter.gibson.mp@parliament.uk , he will reply , I have emailed him in the past when we were trying to get grants etc. before the season started, but as I am not one of his constituents he is not allowed to act on my behalf.
Help get the club back to Darlo by helping to spread the word about the "Back to Darlo!" fund. The image on the right will be constantly updated with the latest total so please feel free to use the image link below the thermometer on your own signatures, blogs, websites, etc. | Image link: http://www.mydarlo.co.uk/img/BTD-therm-350x100.jpg |
