Re: New Signing
Another great signing
Re: New Signing
Looks like an interesting signing. A player who has maybe lost his way a little but could still have plenty to offer if we can help him rebuild his confidence. Really looking forward to seeing him play and he should hopefully be a good replacement for Campbell and Maguire.
Local lad as well so no issues there.

Re: New Signing
Seems a good signing time will tell. Hopefully more to come. Wonder if we paid a Transfer fee?

New Signing
Like the look of this signing. I get the impression from looking at his career that confidence will be a big thing for him.
If he gets off to a good start and the fans get behind him, he’ll be great. But if he struggles to get the first goal, and a few fans get on his back, he might struggle.
Hope very much it’s the former as he’s clearly got great potential.
A front three of Mondal, Charman and hopefully Sousa is very exciting.

Re: New Signing
Maybe get Chris Senior back so we have a Junior/Senior strike partnership.

Re: New Signing
Signing doesn't excite or disappoint me to be honest, hopefully the lad comes here and it works out for him. Not sure what to expect as he doesn't have a prolific record but then I haven't really seen him play enough to say he will be good or bad.
He didn't score any league goals last season for Fylde but he was largely used as a sub I think and they didn't play that many, he did score two in the FA Trophy v Curzon Ashton and 1 v Boston in the FA Trophy though.
A signing of lets see how he does and hope he fits in well and gets firing but not heap any great expectations on the lad.

Re: New Signing
I didn't understand the comment "Agreed to sign him in principal" (you could see him signing on the dotted line in the video) but I get what you mean about being out of contract thanks.

Re: New Signing
Not watched the video to be honest, maybe his contract doesn't end until 31st May.bga wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 8:46 amI didn't understand the comment "Agreed to sign him in principal" (you could see him signing on the dotted line in the video) but I get what you mean about being out of contract thanks.
Re: New Signing
This. He can't contract with us until he is no longer contracted to Fylde.super_les_mcjannet wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 8:48 amNot watched the video to be honest, maybe his contract doesn't end until 31st May.bga wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 8:46 amI didn't understand the comment "Agreed to sign him in principal" (you could see him signing on the dotted line in the video) but I get what you mean about being out of contract thanks.
I also don't think we can transfer his registration until 1st July.

Help get the club back to Darlo by helping to spread the word about the "Back to Darlo!" fund. The image on the right will be constantly updated with the latest total so please feel free to use the image link below the thermometer on your own signatures, blogs, websites, etc. | Image link: http://www.mydarlo.co.uk/img/BTD-therm-350x100.jpg |

Re: New Signing
Interesting signing. Must have something about him to have played 41 games in a promotion chasing league 2 side at a relatively young age, but looks like it's not come together for him the last couple of seasons.
At thi stage I'm viewing him as a replacement for Sousa to be honest, although of course I'd like to be wrong on that point.

Re: New Signing
I don't think any of us had seen Campbell play before he came to Darlo and similarly he didn't have a prolific scoring record in EFL2, but the stats proved he did well for us at NLN level. So I'm optimistic that Mondal can do the same for us.super_les_mcjannet wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 8:45 amSigning doesn't excite or disappoint me to be honest, hopefully the lad comes here and it works out for him. Re: New Signing
I must admit that this was pretty much my first thought. Could you really fit both in the same team? I'm not sure.al_quaker wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 10:22 amInteresting signing. Re: New Signing
I haven't seen Mondal play, but I'd imagine Sousa and Mondal either side of Charman would be a pretty decent front three if we went down a 433 route.H1987 wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 1:42 pmI must admit that this was pretty much my first thought. Re: New Signing
Maybe Sousa is looking less likely if Mondal mainly plays as a winger and we already have Holmes and Rivers.
Re: New Signing
I’d be worried about having only Mondal, Rivers and Holmes with Holmes’ recent fitness issues. Hopefully Mondal is Campbell’s replacement and we’ll see more of Sousa next season.
Re: New Signing
Totally understand that we could lose Sousa to a full time club but remember he is 26. I know Jamie Vardy and a few others have been late developers but normally at his age he would be considered too old to sign.
He may move on but I understand from a source in the know that he is happy here and if no full time offers come in he will stay. We will have to see what happens but not certain to be leaving if what I am told is correct.

Re: New Signing
Is Mr Q still under contract? There's been no news regarding him and he hasn't sighted for ages.

Re: New Signing
Yep Campbell didn't have a great scoring record either, the difference is Mondal didn't have a fantastic scoring record at Whitby or Fylde either so our level and lower. It does depend where we play him also, is it striker or wide striker, anyhow I hope he does well but I am keeping my expectations fully in check and letting the lad have the opportunity to show us what he can do.Maurice_Peddelty wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 12:15 pmI don't think any of us had seen Campbell play before he came to Darlo and similarly he didn't have a prolific scoring record in EFL2, but the stats proved he did well for us at NLN level. Re: New Signing
Resigning myself to the fact that Mondal is Sousa's replacement (anything else will be a bonus). Even if its not football league I have a feeling that one of Halifax or York will be interested enough to give him a year as a pro again and have seen his agent putting his highlight video out there on Twitter, which after what he was showing he deserves.
As for Mondal, excited to watch the lad play. Has good pedigree staying at Boro that long and must have done something right to accumulate 40 odd appearances in a strong L2 side in FGR. In many ways he sounds similar to Sousa, diminutive wide player, direct style likes to get on the ball and run, football league experience. Still a very decent age. Let's hope that again we can be a good shop window for players to come in and show their talents and potentially get back into the full time game.
